    To find the perfect damage model we must conduct experiments.

    Even if you already love the damage model there might be changes that need to be tested that you personally won't like - but they will allow to close some doors to never be reopened again. Such experiments are needed and you should not react negatively when they are tested. They are good for the game because sometimes they will help to uncover interesting options we could miss if we did not do it. We promise - the closer we are to release the less experiments like that we will do - but now its a perfect time to continue experimenting)

     

    You can always say in the future - we tested them and they are not fun. But sometimes we can find something very interesting because of such experiments.

     

    We have tested very tankier ships of the line and the result is obvious - battles are much longer in ships of the line and on average they are tediously long which is not a good thing. Raking is not yet a viable alternative for disabling the ships. Gun loss is a lot better now but crew losses sometimes feel inadequate even if you did a perfect rake.  

     

    Regarding ships of the line armor. 

    We have found the solution that will allow to keep medium frigate combat (that people say are fun) and increase the fun factor on ships of the line

     

    We plan to do the following changes next hot fix (again changes will be slow and gradual)

    • Tune medium and heavy gun penetrations (increase them a bit for 9 and 12 and reduce it for 32 and 42 as they are too strong for 
    • ou consider frigate battles fun (compared to older versions)?
    • Do you consider ships of the line indecisive historical battles fun?
    • Should marines be tweaked?
    • lower lineship armors)
    • Tune armors for ship accordingly (reduce armor and reduce live oak bonuses a bit)
    • Tweak mast hp and strength (i think we have found the sweet spot over last 2 fixes) it was too high in 9.8 and too low in 9.82
    • Tweak raking crew losses 
    • Tweak marines strength and preparation growth

    there are 2 things that might change dramatically in the next content patch that are long overdue (ETA 20-25 days)

    • fixes of bugs and improvement of old acceleration and deceleration behavior of vessels
    • fixes of turning, terminal speed and rudder influence on speed.

    Patch will be deployed next week (hopefully)

    In this patch the PVP EU Three  server will be closed down and merged into PVP EU One.

    All resources and assets will be compensated and/or merged into PVP EU One as redeemables.

     

    Resources merged into PvP EU 1

    • Gold
    • Resources from warehouses
    • Ships
    • Upgrades
    • Known blueprints
    • Outposts and buildings will be lost but the price of construction or upgrades will be compensated in gold

    Important points for players from PVP EU 3 (this info does not concern players from all other servers)

    • Assets are transferred automatically, you don't have to do anything
    • Assets are transferred to account - not as players. If you wanted to change the name or nation - its a good chance to do it.
    • All merged assets will be given to as redeemables 
    • If you had 200 various types of resources, ships, items you will have 200 redeemables in your list. To minimize the redeemables list feel free to optimize your warehouses selling assets you don't need. 
    • Merged assets are provided for server account. It does not matter if you have a player on EU 1 or not
      • If you don't have a player on PVP EU 1 you can create a player and he will have all merged assets from the EU 3 server in the redeemables list
      • If you have a player on PVP EU 1 he will have all merged assets in the redeemable list
    • Deleting vs creating players
      • Do not use redeemables if you are not sure about the existing player his nation and his name
      • If you don't have a player you don't have to worry about the assets - create the player and redeem the assets
      • If you do have the player please think carefully about using the redeemables. Better be sure if you want to play for that nation or keep that name

    Suggestion for safety 

    Do not use the redeemables until you are absolutely sure about nation choice - keep them in the redeemables list. Un-used redeemables are tied to account and will always be on the redeemables list.

     

    Please translate this information for the national forums. Be careful as these instructions are important.

    TLDR version

    • All assets will be merged as redeemables
    • Do not use redeemables until you made up your mind about the nation and player name

     

    Lets discuss if everything is clear and we will post this announcement on steam as well.

  3. I chose pirates because there is no faction related to my country of origin (Italy)...and btw Malta order( Knights of St.John) is a great idea, is like a neutral faction, people of all nations joined the order ...

  4.  So, this is a simple suggestion/discussion and I'm sure most of you will just read the titles, and that's fine. I would like to see at the next wipe (ports/money/ships) that we merge the servers back together. The major influx of population from the release has no calmed down as most of us were predicting, and if we want to keep playing with a decent number of players we need to go back to a single server.

     

     I don't see any major downside to this, I personally didn't like the idea of splitting the server between regions to begin with, and most of you had agreed with that. So please use this thread to discuss and vote on whether or not we should merge the servers back together the next time there is a wipe, that way nobody will lose anything.

     

     I'm keeping the poll stupid, simple, and to the point to get the best gauge of what the player base feels like.

    I agree with merging the servers, but only if you get to keep player rank,crafting level and as i said in another post the blueprints i've unlocked.

    I, as many others, always played in server PVP 3 mirror and we don't want to start all over again.

  5. Honestly I don't understand the confusion over this vote.  The questions are succinct and it's pretty clear to me what's being asked, at least if you trade regularly?  Also, IMO these two particular questions do not need to be related.  They are simple yes/no, pretty clear cut.

     

    I voted yes for both BTW, in spite of the fact that I've made millions (8-digit millions) from the two things above since the update.  In spite of profiting from it I voted that way because the challenge has sort of gone away, at least for now.  I am still for a future complex system of trade, with deliveries, trading companies, trading fleets, delivery risk factors, armed escorts, strategic route mapping, all of that stuff, etc.  But for the time being until such a thing can be developed or approached, I think a "yes" to each of the two questions above would at least re-introduce more challenge back into the trading gameplay for now.

  6. Thanks, but I am still confused given a return to old prices has nothing to do with teleports and cargo and vice versa *shrugs*

     

     

    I guess he wanted that his Suggestion is:  to go back to the old price system and to disable cargo

     

    Then the poll would be -> Yes good idea / No bad idea / I have a better idea

     

    but I also got that wrong. His 2 Suggestion are only one and he want to know what other think about that suggestion of changing two parameters/behavior. ´so, now that is clarified and we can vote :)

    i know that my english sucks but seriosly, what i wanted is simple, a poll on 2 things i'd like to change, of course i know that are not related, i just wanted to know if someone else wanted to change the same.

     

    I will be happy if you could help me to explain this in a proper poll.  :lol:

  7. I don't understand your poll..... but if u want some ideas how trading/eco System could be improved, that would be my current idea

     

    1) reduce buying price of goods by NPC (Standard: price of gathering of the ressources+ 10 % in non consuming ports and price of gathering of the ressources + 25 % in consuming ports)

    2) make teleport to every outpost possible, without time restriction, but disable teleporting of ships

    3) ships can be transportet (without goods) to an outpost (cost Money and time, could even be capured maybe during Transport?)

    4) reduce income of missions, so player need to do there eco and think about what they are doing

    5) increased OW speed  (x2)

    6) distribute the ressources over the hole map. so there is a need to capture ports which are far away or you need to trade with other nations in free ports (only if OW Speed will increase)

    7) create a new port class. currently we have capureable ports and free ports. lets call it free trade ports

    8) define free trade ports near each capital

    9) only Trader ships are allow to go into those free trade ports

    10) allow to build  buildings in free trade ports but increase the gathering cost of ressources in those ports. free ports can produces any goods. so even smaller nation will have all ressources which are needed.

     

     

    that's it for now, even thought I didn't finished my thought so there could be some isues/problems with my "Suggestion". that free trade port idea could also be used that there are exclusiv materials there which are needed for crafting of higher ships. then those prots shoulndt be near the capital. than you have to drive there, buy stuff and you could be ganked during the Transport. but i'm a lazy slug and other can also think about some ideas

    i would like to propose something that i'm pretty sure will improve gameplay and i would like to know if someone else agrees with me.

     

    These are the things i would change:

     

     

    1 Old resources prices (before patch 9.7)

     

    2 Cancel the ability to Teleport your ship with a cargo

     

     

     

    In this way, getting a good price for a resource will be much more dangerous, realistic ( and fun), probably players will group much more to form trading convoys to defend from ganking.

    I think all the trading thing and the game itself will benefit of this.

     

     

    Let me know what you think about it and feel free to add every idea that you have on this topic.

    i have a suggestion for you,

     

    i would suggest to convert the neutral faction (useless) to another nation called "trading companies" or something like that so that all that people that don't have a nation to join is not forced to serve as a pirate.

    The nation would be unique, the player of this nation won't be able to attack other players except for pirates of course or if the player doesn't buy a "corsair letter" from other nation or the trading companies that require one against another particular nation.

    This of course will make trading more exciting

     and will give a sense to those trading ships like Amsterdam and la grosse ventre and others u will chose to add to the game in the future.

     

    I hope you will consider my suggestion.
