  1. ... and make them similar to how crew works.  The player would then have two pools of men (using men as generic tag, no offense to the ladies) from which to assign to their ships.  You could outfit a Constitution with 400 crew and 50 Marines, or rage board equip it with 100 crew and 350 Marines, whatever you choose to set the sliders to.  This would give alot more flexibility to players in choosing their play style and setting up their ships.

Now Marines would have to be more expensive to purchase and also probably have a separate medkit which would require some additional stuff to make it more expensive to match the prices (iron ingots etc for muskets, or muskets as a new craft item... devs will figure it out).

Another option is to limit the Marine pool to half the amount of the rank's crew pool or to put a limit on the percentage of Marines onboard ships to half like the best current Marine module.

This could also make Port Battles more interesting where there is a fort(s) that has to be taken with Marines so you will have "troopships" that need to make it in and land their unit.

    Just thinking out loud.

  2. As for this Naval Action addict I can only say THANK YOU DEVS for working so hard to get the server back up and running.  The frustration of not being able to play this awesome game is nothing compared to what this outage is costing you in terms of data gathering, project progression, and worry of player/monetary loss.  I hope my fellow game captains could find it in their hearts to send words of encouragement and support instead of pessimism and beratement.

  3. Looks very interesting.  I actually sent in a F11 bug report last night after spending the entire day (20 game days) at sea off the East Coast fishing and not finding a single sealed bottle.  I had 3,111 fish meat when done after selling off the Bullsharks and made a fair amount of gold selling it all at a consumption port that wasn't saturated.  I tried varying speeds, varying directions (north/south, east/west, northeast/southwest, circles(umm not what you think)etc), varying locations, but no success.

  4. I like the changes being made, in theory they sound great.  One thing I would like to suggest, however, is to change the crafting recipe for 4th rate ships from requiring high grade notes to mid grade notes.  This would unify the 4th and 5th rate ships as truly a "mid-tier" class using mid-tier crafting.

Low Tier - 7th and 6th rates, shallow port battles, low grade notes

Mid Tier - 5th and 4th rates, normal deep port battles, mid grade notes

High Tier - 3rd through 1st rates, regional capital deep port battles, high grade notes

    Just seems more fitting.

  5. I somewhat like the idea but would propose instead of limiting crew as a physical commodity of sorts make it a background system where there is a national pool of reserves and have a supply/demand matrix where the larger the nation the more expensive replacements are.  I would rather see crew become a gold sink in the game by claiming some of the battle earnings and actual cost to replace in port similar to repairing damaged ships.  However you decide to do it I will still play this awesome game.

  6. Sorry to hear you are leaving, the game has lost so much color now that crayon is gone.  I just hope it can draw in more people like him and fill in the open spaces to make a vibrant game.

srsly, hope this is not true.
