  1. I don't think the initial hostile responses were at all warranted. It was a suggestion and opinion and there was a serious points made and ideas that were worthy of discussion.

The eye point made was how to keep the longevity of this game. The Eve model was obviously successful.

NA potentially does not have that scope because of where it is set in a very finite space.

But the long game must be considered very very soon and how to keep people coming back year after year not just month after month.

We are already struggling with player numbers now.

I have no issue with the OP making suggestions...i do get a little pi**ed off with the "drama" attached to those suggestion...i.e. "if you don't do this to the game devs the game is going to die!"

    Its totally unnesscary.

  2. The problem is not server population, it is that the population is boxed into one role, that of serving a historical nation to flip flop around on ports that ultimately mean nothing except port battles.

this game is repeating the very same mistake POTBS made. DEVS did not strip the majority of the ports from the historical nations and give them over to players to "create their own" nations that can be conquered and changed over time, ports that can be player governed and mean more to player society economies (ie taxes, tariffs , player empires etc)

Imagine EVE online ,if eve forced all players to play for all the AI nations to fight for them and whatever the player built or fought mattered nothing but for the AI terrority... EVE would have been long dead. EVE survived because players could own systems, create empires of their own, and fight wars and gank around them.

If this game does not take a similar approach, no matter how pretty the ships are it will die out like POTBS did because players will eventually get tired of working for European kings.

the reason POTBS lost so many players had nothing to do ingame factions/nations thats just a ridiculous idea. If you love Eve so much.. play it.

  3. an hour in advance is what i think makes sense. why does the warning come only 30 minutes prior. it should be as you suggested an hour.

i disagree. an hour is sufficient. then as they do a reminder every 15 minutes.

    there is a 60 min warning a 30 min  a 15 min a 5 min and a 1 min...what else can they do.

  4. I think there should be a "cooling" of period or a demotion in rank for turning pirate. The mechanic is being used to settle nation clan disputes as we are currently seeing with SS and the American clans. There is a real danger imo that pirates will become over populated which would not be good for the game over all. I would like to add that a nerf for pirates in general would also be a bad just make it a little harder to switch.
