  1. I absolutely agree. There is not reason why ships, which are only a small distance away, when the ATTACK happens,

should not be able to join and help their allies.

I think the two circels is a great thing. The smal circel prohibits the cheezy gamey defensive countertagging by being so small that ships that are irrelevant are not able to be tagged.

The big circle includes ships that are within sight of the battle when it happned are included but can chose to leave if they wish. You need to remember that the timescales are very different betwene the timeaccelerated ow and the battle instances. Allso there were no cell phones or radios back in the day. Taken together, that means a battle is something that should only include ships that are within sight of the battle when it starts.

Another thing I would like to suggest: FREE PORTS should ONLY be allowed for TRADER VESSELS.

That would stop that lurking in and hopping in and out of such ports.

Unfortunately that would mean that the chance of pvp would be drastically reduced. Fewer players would have warships available in in fewer parts of the map. NOT GOOD!!!

  2. Did you know that in spring of 1801, Great Britain invaded and ockupied the swedish port town of Gustavia with only a dozen marines?

Sweden was enraged and immediately sent a frigate with several dozen soldiers, all the way from european Sweden to retake it. It arrived in july the same year and quickly retook controll of the island. Great Brittain agreed to pay a large sum of money in compensation for their naughty behaviour.

(Quite different from the portbattles in Naval Action, dont you think?)

Did you know that during "The War Of 1812", 20% of the entire US export was transfered through the little swedish port of Gustavia?

Did you know that in 1877, Sweden decided it no longer wanted the expensive toy colony and decided to hold referendum on the island. 351 inhabitants voted for "sell the island back to France", an one inhabitant voted for independence.

  3. We allso have had a sudden occurence of a fleetship refusing to retreat. It sailed bravely for half an hour with 20 crew to trade broadsides with an enemy Ingermanland instead of retreating. A workaround that works for caprured ships is to not give them enough crew to sail. Then it will just sit out its two minutes and then escape.

  4. I agree to the fact that we have an OBVIOUS problem in the that we have two big alliance blocks that will probably never change with current politics mechanics.
How to go about solving that problem - I dont know whats best but something clearly needs to change. Opening up the possibilities in voting, making it less restricted by the current state of war and alliances or restrict the number of allies a nation can have to only one. The last one would make for a VERY interesting game i think.

  5. This 1.5 BR rule simply got to go. One of the worst game mechanics introduced so far. Naval Action feels yet a little more like arcade now.

If I want only evenly matched, staged fights I go for World of warships or Warthunder or whatever. Is this really what Naval Action wants?!? Now people are sailing in circles across the edge of the battle cicle waiting for the join button to light up. Once an enemy joins, then I can join. And thensnother ship from each side, and then anorher. This makes for very "gamey" behavour and totally ruins strategy and open world tactics as well as any historical or realistic feel for the game.

  6. Let me clarify. I'm not complaining or blaiming our loss on anything being unfair. Misshaps will occur from time to time. Sweden might still be more skilled in tactics but the dutch are superior in industrial capacity and can afford to attack again and again, waiting for the swedish fleet to have these freak occurances happen all of a sudden. And then - BAM! Swedish fleet needs to be on top our game EVEY battle to stand chance and that wont happen. As yesterdays battle showed.

  7. I made this post just to clear up that the majority of ships in this battle on the swedish side did not get dragged in but actually joined this(can only assume mistakenly).

Thats correct. Not by accident. Some of our biggest, badest ships with the most skilled captains and the port battle commander got dragged in though. We had to make a split second decision.

    1. Leaving them in the external battle to fend for themselves (getting sunk) and have the rest of the reduced port battle fleet join the port battle imideatly as planned under ad hoc leadeship.

    2. Sending everyone still not in the port battle, or the external battle, into the external battle to help finish it off quickly and then join the port battle late, together, everyone.

The decision had to be made quickly. You only have 2 min's to join the external battle and it takes 90sec for the cool downs after you leave the port. That gives you 30 sec's to make up your mind. Just getting to grip with the situation and communicating it over teamspeak took over 20 of those 30 seconds. The commanding officer of the day was fortunately an extremely cool Finish guy with big enough balls and calm nerves to make that decision without hesitating. He chose no.2. Resulting in some people having allready joined the port battle and the rest joining the external battle. We hoped we would get the big boys out of the accidental external battle and into the port battle in time to win the port battle. We didn't. Noone blames the commanding officer for making the decision he made. We are all fully confident in his capabilities. It might have gone another way had he made another decision. We will never know. It was an accident and we did the best we could. Not even the guy in the cutter is getting any hate. He made a misstake.

    You live, you learn.

We have now evaluated the situation and improved our communication and organisation further and we are now an even more effective fighting force than before.

  8. We're not the ones lying in Nation chat, if anyone is lying it's KF telling new players that a treaty is preventing them from doing what they please. "Knock yourselves out ganking danish noobs and traders and capturing undefended danish ports" Really? This constant slander and basically saying that we're so bad we can only gank noobs and attack undefended ports, is the exact behavior that turned us against you. It's fine, if you want to keep insulting us with these lies go ahead, at least we actually captured a Danish port :P

  9. If I were the Swedish council I would want use drunk as a weapon, a group of guys willing to take risks and go where most wouldn't. They don't always win but what a pain in the arse of any enemy they must surely be. Perhaps a temporary exchange of two or three higher ranking players between drunk and HRE/ KF, just for a couple of days or a week might help people to understand eachother that little bit better and see that things are a lot simpler than people think.

You don't know what your'e talking about. I've sailed alot with DrunkenSloth. That was when he was a member of 13th, before he he went rogue. You can say alot about him but the guy has balls. He saved my ass more than once. I've built ships for him and so on. The problem I have is their attitude in the nation chat and on the forum where they (not Sloth) spreads desinformation in the swedish ranks, trashtalking KF and HRE. I would LOVE to take them under my wing again. We could surely use a bunch of reckless lunetics in the war against the dutch. But they are hellbent on stiring up tention with the danes. ...for some reason.

  10. At the beginning of the war, both sides were full of mutual respect. Now we have almost reached the level here, which there is between Danes and British. That's too bad. That you do not like standing idly by almost two hours, should be clear. Why is discussed? The Dutch like other things not good. This will also be discussed. Why both sides do not take the easy times for information only. If this post to one or other food for thought, I am satisfied. Actually we want to just play and have fun.

I dont know what it sounds like on the dutch TS but in the Swedish community, on HRE & KF teamspeak, most people seem very happy with fighting the dutch. The only thing swedish players are really dissapointed with is the really few but loud dutch players that whine and complain on the forum and make bad excuses for this and that and whatever. On the high seas however, there seem to be alot of respect.

We like our new enemies. :-)

  11. At least we're not so full of ourselves that we think we represent the Swedish nation, Drunken Sailors is named after the sea shanty and not after me.

Passive-aggressive drunk strike again. Straw man arguments ftw.

Listen up drunk! You do your thing, we do our thing. No problem there. But what I do want you to do - stop the bullshit. KF and HRE never claimed to speak for anyone but ourselves (overwhelming majority of the swedish playerbase). We stroke a deal with the danes because we needed ports for industrial capacity. You don't agree - fine. Knock yourselves out ganking danish noobs and traders and capturing undefended danish ports. But please stop lying to the new players in nation chat.

  12. Yep, thats hard, but you swedes fought well. /tiphat

Yesterday the PBL wanted to wait for better wind, because we were outgunned. Then the wind was getting bader and bader... ^^ (wtf)

Seems like the dutch finally realized - in NavalAction, the wind is allways against you. :-D

  14.  I'm curious has there been any decision about whether the Pirates Nation will have access to the Diplomatic system or if it will be different compared to what the other nations get?

How long will the pirates remain "a nation" at all? I dont know. I dont play the pirates, but if I did, I'd be very dissapointed in what the current state this game brings. The ability to capture territory and construct warships doesnt feel very piratey.
