  1. Totally agree, Jaques, I would add my 5 cents, if I can:

Decide to have navy or shipping career on the start:

Strong limits about the high grade in the sea (Very hurting to see 6 Santissima in fleet)

Much thing to personalize the captain (the avatar)

Interaction with the crew in the sea (where's my pig head brine?!?)

Add random event in navigation (Need to learn from Paradox, I do not know: when you are in nav, pop-up appear with "saint elmo's fire - moral lost for 10 minutes") ecct.

  2. Amazing story about the last victoriuos Admiral of the "Serenissima" (Most Serene). A glorious 1000 years history of republic closed with the service of this great man.

Great admirer of the Royal Navy, tried to modify the Venetian fleet on the model of Royal Navy. Unfortunately he didn't have enough time.

Thanks a lot my dear friend for this article, and made from a RN sailor, give that much more value and significance

  3. Ahoy captains!

I've noticed that with the last fix, the bottle spawn rate was slightly decreased, and when you find one of it, the wreck are located very far from where we open the bottle.

Indeed, after I found my last wreck, with a travel that lasted 2 real hours , I was the bad idea to open another bottle that I had the luck to find during the same travel. It located for other 2 hours again!

Honestly immediately I thought that the game was trolled me!

Unfortunately much of us haven't the time to sail so much in the game, we have a job, a family, and this is a entertainment product, a game, not a job.

I think would better, to improve any game mechanics, allow to the wreck spawn much more nearby, like before the fix. Highly decrease the spawn rate, to make bottle really rare (and increase the value of the treasure hold in the wrecks), but not so far to find!

    How did you think?

  4. In the first times, the Venetian Republic disliked the galleons, and for a long time rent it from Netherlands, instead produce from his shipyards

Venetian fleet ("Armada" or "Armada da mar") was divided to 2 types:

"Armata Sottile", where we translate in "light fleet", and "Armata Grossa" or "Heavy Fleet"

in Venice, on XVIII Century the fleet was divided:

    - Vascello di I Rango: twodecker with 68/74 cannons

    - Vascello di II Rango, or "Fregata Grossa" (Heavy frigate): twodecker with 60/66 cannons

    - Vascello di III Rango, or "Fregata" (frigate): twodecker with 40/50 cannons

    - Vascello di IV Rango, or "Fregatina" (light frigate), ship with less 40 cannons

Of course we can see in the late XVIII century the equivalent venetian I class is comparable with the third class of the other navies, but for "prestige", the classification wasn't never changed.

  5. I've never had an issue to boarding and also posted the F11 to the boarding, he was LT commander and i was 1st LT so not overly different, i had Exceptional Marines and Swordfighting then Mastercrafted Grog, Axes and Boarding Parties which is complete overkill for a Mercury that had 20 less crew then my Niagara during the time of boarding, where i see that the bug or problem started was during the 15 second start time for the boarding the 2nd time when i was on about 60 odd crew vs his 14 then as battle started i had 13 and somehow lost 50 crew just in the startup. that's the issue i'm discussing as it has never happened before and i'm thinking it might be a random rare bug or something as there is not explanation to how it could happen normally

Have you prapared the crew for the boarding before? (key 9)
U used the right attacks against the enemy? (example, attack against granades, deckfire against defend)
Little hint: reduce the enemy crew under the 55% before
  6. The size of that castillian banner is just absurd :o or was it used in the rigs ?

The union one I saw on a article from a while ago after being auctioned. "Experts" claimed it still retained the smell of gunpowder...

in the past, navy flags had to see far away, so they was need build it big, very big! About the UJ, i don't know the fate of that flag, but is sad to see this piece of history going to acuction  :(

PS. the Spanish flag, if I remember right, was used on the Nelson's funeral, some people cut piece of this like a souvenirs!

  7. Totally agree, especially about lighthouse. We need in the open world to see the light far of the sea, to look the position of the cities and make a good navigation point.

Would be great to see the lights in the sea, especially in raining day!

Would be intersting to add some navigation instrument, starting to pencil, protactor and ruler, to build the route in the map (like some aircraft-sim), and why not, in a far future, a sextant

  9. ...but is very frustrating to see the ship that you killed all crew captured by others, after 30 mins of battle...

Anytime I enter in another instance, after the hail, I ask if they want to board or sink, I think this is the right behavior...but if you try to stole my ship, after I worked hard to make a good boarding, sorry but this is an infamous

  10. Thanks a lot mate!I just have to clarify that a lot of people were involved in this search

Unfortunately i know nothing about it either!I haven't heard of venetians in the Caribbean. My guess is that they were mainly involved in trade in the Mediterranean. If you come across any articles i would love to read them as well :)

That's what we are trying to do!Proposing ships that weren't made by the usual suspects and as you can see by yourself, most of my posts in the shipyard section are just like these

Yep I see! Would be interesting to see any articles about Ottoman ships, they used a nice vessels
