  1. Well, Devs should decide what kind of game they want to make? They would like to make a   hardcore, realistic, and beautifully detailed naval combat sandbox or they try to make a fantasy, RPG sailing game. I think they are advertising their game realistic, and beautifully detailed naval combat sandbox so I would expect   1 hull and 1 rig repair maximum and zero crew repair.Off course If they changed their minds and develop an XP grind, hello kitty fantasy RPGs.Well, in this case, I think the current system is perfect.

  2. Well, this kind of content was good 15 years ago but I expect more from a game designer in 2017.Sorry, it's nothing else just massive grind, absolutely pointless. If I want to unlock a reno for solo-play, a Connie for group play,  Agamemnon for 4rt PB and a first rate for 1st rate PB I just guess but if it takes 500+ mission. It's mean 100+ hours pointless grind.Sorry, I can not and I do not wish to do it.At least I would expect a different path to unlock this slots.I don't mind its gold or combat mark just don't force me to do missions.Off course best option for me if they remove this feature. Also, they're throwing out (real)skill based PVP on the window. I think put together a good pvp team is starting in the shipyard but I lost ability to design my ship because I can not finish it without upgrades. So my ship quality will be decided by time and sooner or later I have to decide I can or can not handel this huge disadvantage.

I know OP post was higher level ship but this feature is destroying my gameplay (and I don't think I'm alone)  an evrey level.

Ship slots were removed because the old two and three slot ships were never being used. The currant system is far from perfect but it enables any player from any skill background to (with work) get the maximum slots!!!

I don't see how that is unfair! You said it yourself it's two grindy to unlock ship slots! How else do you unlock ship slots. Of it was for money say 1 million per slot would you be happy (I thinks not), or if you had to travel say 1000miles to unlock the slots, would you be happy (again I thinks not).

Would you be happy getting all the slots for free! (now I thinks you'll be happy)!!!

It takes time in any game to get good with a skill combo or gun. In naval action it takes time to master a ship skill...

Sorry, you didn't master anything you just spend a lot of hours with grind. That's it.Mastering ship skill was a  real skill before its turn to world of shipcraft and I can give you a very good example later if you wish.Anyway if I have to choose between hundreds of PvE mission vs 1 million gold per slot I'm glad to choose  1 million gold/slot options.Off course best options is removing. Before you start ohhh they want free everything....  we didn't get free materials, gold, labor hours, upgrades, blueprints, shipyards and time to collect those staffs. So thank you very much indeed but I love to see this feature in the bin.

  4. This ship knowledge system is horrible.Repetitive, boring, zero thrill, zero challenge if we don't count The finished the mission before server crash feature. Mastering a ship used to mean you were able to use your advantage of enemy players in a PVP battle. It was a real skill. Now its mean you killed hundreds of ai monkey.

A Rear Adm mission sinking a Santi in it would grant about 700xp.  Since the second knowledge slot take 37000 xp, I have to complete 50+ missions to unlock the 2nd slot.  It will take me a very long time to unlock all 5 slots and I do not expect to ever sail one of the other 1st rates as I don't wish to grind 500 missions a second time.  This makes unlocking slots a PvE grind and turns the game into a second job.  Please up the rewards for the missions or reduce the Knowledge requirements for the lineships.

Why dont we take ship knowledge system and throw in the bin?

There is a perfect solution.  If you are far from the batte when it starts, you have to sail a long ways in battle to get there.

It was never that way.  The only time you spawned far away was when there were no battle timers and someone actively sailed away so the batte moved away from the spawn points and someone joined a lot later at the original spawn point

Yes thats right, but  y are not circle around  spawn point.

Well, let's get some facts straight here.

The current join timer is 3 minutes, so if your friends can't be there in 3 minutes they weren't close and thus should not be allowed to join. Do you know how bad of a mechanic it's to have long join timers? We once had 15 and even longer join timers, the fights were most of the time over when someone could still join in to fight, this led to you being the winner of the battle to being the loser because someone joined in 14 minutes later after the battle started.

And yes this is a revenge fleet situation, if you arent close to each other you should not be able to end up in the same battle, because that is how it worked. I couldn't be 20 miles away and expect to be at the location in 1 minute. And also you're saying that we personally benefit from our thinking that "what you see you get" yes and no. If we see 20 ships attacking us that will be what is attacking us, If I see 1 ship and I attack it that shall be it and nothing more. Your system will benefit you and those which likes ganks, nothing else.

With your system, it won't be a group. It will be a big task force system which can be spread out miles and miles around which can come to someone's rescue (this doesn't even happen today, today we use ASM but even those takes several minutes to reach their targets depending on distance and they fly several 100 Km/h)

No offense but its not true. That time was huge battels because peoples joined from both sides(teleport). If someone joined in 14 minutes later after the battle started he was so far you was abel to leave the battle very easy.So yes i prefer that system if i went with my freinds and attack someone near to enemy capital we know we will be in disadvantage but we dealt with it.

Both system The short join timer plus battle screen and the short join timer without screen is the perfect setup for gankers.

How about if we could build fake trader ships?

The enemy sees ow the trader brig. But it's a camouflaged battleship with crew strength and armament like a navy brig.

I had fake trader before wipe.Indiana or Lgv, crew space, hammock, 6pd or 4 pd guns, gold marine and few upgrades. When a brave pirate was y it was a big surprise for him.XDDDD

    NO....

free ports are Trade ports between geographical borders

Teleport (gankers) to free ports prevents trading between nations

and it allows ganking on a unwanted scale on traders (the easy pray)

and ..it is also a request from the lazy sailor,so  .............................NO...................

its an escape button for the people who get stuck in OW when lost..

    OT...

let me shout back to those who want free port teleport s.....

perhaps it is better for gankers to  SAIL back to their ports.... instead of teleport to a friendly port and remove the teleport button totally  for them.....

If teleport unapccetabel.Maybe we should decrese map size with 50%.

Snoopy already put up the numbers of 3rd rates nearly equalling 5th rates at that time. The only reason they were mostly in Europe was due to the blockades otehrwise there wouldve been more in teh Carribbean but yeah people with frigates bitched enough to get this pushed. My point is that the current iteration is still not gonna 'fix the problem'.

Devs cant fix this problem because the problem not "the sols". Real problem is the players.

Honestly you guys are all individuals who aren't into lineships. Every single nation is working on them whether they actually have players who enjoy them or not. There is no denying that. As long as so many Lineship ports exist Lineships will continue to be built no matter the grind or the joy.

The Spanish jsut didn't have a clue how to deal with fireships. Good first rate fleets can deal with them quite well - just look at the hudnreds of port battles where fireships barely managed to disturbe the formation but didn't actually do any significant dmg.

@Gizbo I ain't crying. I love SOLs and in my mind there could be hundreds around but thats not what people want so I am thinking of ways to actually make them rare.

I love SOLs as well and i love frigates as well but i dont think  SOLs was a problem. I think it was made by players whos love frigates and please dont throw in "the realistic card" because we are making peopels from rum...XD(at least we should call bandage:))

Thinking about marks and mechanics, here's the problem I see right now:

There is no particular pressure the game puts on anyone to attack. Maybe I want more marks but I can get them next week just as easily as today. We're going to sit back until we have 537 First Rates and then we're ready.

What we need is war pressure. I need to attack you today. Today, with this half built fleet and store-bought Surprises. TODAY. NOW. READY OR NOT, HERE WE COME.

To that end, what if ports generated contention against each other automatically? Neighboring areas just contend with each other all the time simply for existing. It can be influenced by players through various means (particularly to adjust the time it's going to land) but even with 0 player activity, ports A and B are putting contention on each other.

So the British and the French didn't really want to fight over Haiti. They weren't quite ready. Only 487 First Rates built up, not time to attack yet. But now there's a port battle scheduled because of automatic contention generation and any couple of random British newbies who blunder in there are going to take the place over unless some French defend it. And, you know, here's this small British clan who wasn't much into RvR or contention flipping but you know, since the port battle is right there, just inviting them in, why not give it a go? Better bring more French defenders now. And who wants to leave those poor British fledglings by themselves? Might just bring a few first rates, just for a show. So the French better bring some too....

The game basically pushes us into port battles.

This is also a mechanic for upsetting alliances.

You'd better have 100% of your team on board with that Pirate-Danish alliance because when natural contention generates a port battle between them, it's not going to take much to turn that into a flip....and then maybe another flip....and another. Sooner or later someone is going to have to take real action.

    Conquest marks encourages defense.

I think we need generated pressure to encourage offense.

I think you can do it so much easier.

First you MUST delete all the staff what you can get with conquest mark ships, blueprints, conquest marks. Its shouldnt be a problem because most of the players get from fake PBs and let me honest i think its  a cheat.we can give any name for this (under cover dealXD, bla-bla) Its just a cheat.

Second step: you make one easy rules.

-y get 1  CQ mark after every kill or assist in a PB( or maybe a winner PB) .So if y took a part in a pb and y had 1kill and 2 assist y get 3 QM if y had 0 Kill/Assist y wont get anything.

This way much harder to exploit the system, you will generate pressure on players to do "real" PBs.
