  2. Battle 20: Lieutenant Maxer der Grosse, Surprise 38 guns Saturday, 10-Oct-2015: Late night Saturday, I headed south around the western tip of Haiti and saw a battle between 3 British ships and 7 French vessels. Once in the battle, I saw Captain Tricks and Captain Edward Revnon. The third British officer was sinking and I missed his name. I am extremely proud of the way the British officers threw their ships into the middle of the action distributing damage on as many sides as possible. Unfort...

  3. Battle 19: Lieutenant Maxer der Grosse, Surprise 38 guns Saturday, 10-Oct-2015: Looking for traders again I found another Spanish Trade Lynx. This time I concentrated my fire on his sails, reducing them down to 50% before boarding. It was an easy boarding and I am now the proud owner of my second Trade Lynx.

  4. Battle 18: Lieutenant Maxer der Grosse, Surprise 38 guns Saturday, 10-Oct-2015: After repairing my Surprise I went out looking for traders and one I found. Completely, an unfair fight, I took my Surprise in against a Spanish Trader Lynx. After almost blowing it out of the water, I attempted my first boarding. I came to close to the enemy and too fast in my first boarding attempt, which was interrupted in the middle of boarding, because I initiated the boarding and then sailed past him. A seco...

  5. Battle 17: Lieutenant Maxer der Grosse, Surprise 38 guns Saturday, 10-Oct-2015: Heading North from Jeremie, I was closed to the Southern tip of Cuba where I saw a battle taking place. 4 British against 4 French ships. I joined in hoping to even out the odds. Within a minute of joining a British vessel was sunk. The ships were mostly brig sized vessels. When I joined the battle I came in close to two french brigs and engaged them. Firing two broadsides, I saw the other British in the battle be...

  6. Battle 16: J. Lieutenant Maxer der Grosse, Surprise 38 guns Friday, 09-Oct-2015: Leaving Jeremie with my freshly painted Surprise I headed north to where the French and the Spanish trade routes cross. Just South of Cuba, near Haiti, I usually sight fat traders overloaded with goods. Following a trading Brig to a Port on the North side of Haiti, I waited for the vessel to leave the port. When he came out, I took him apart. Unfortunately, he had sold off his grain, and bought rum for his crew....

  7. Battle 15: J. Lieutenant Maxer der Grosse, Surprise 38 guns Friday, 09-Oct-2015: After repairing my Surprise in a neutral Haitian port, I spotted two large American ships heading towards Jeremie (a 74 and a Constitution). I sent out a lot of messages to all British officers listening in on our communications and a good group of fellow officers took on the 74 just outside of the port of Jeremie. As I approached, the other US vessel came upon me and I engaged with two other British vessels, ne...

  8. Battle 14: J. Lieutenant Maxer der Grosse, Surprise 38 guns Friday, 09-Oct-2015: I went hunting for Frenchy’s tonight and I found them, or at least one. I found a lone French trade Brig and engaged her. Upon entering battle, I saw two additional ships. Two Spanish Trade Cutters were also there. I think the French was AI and the other two real opponents. I sunk the French Trade Brig fairly quickly, and then turned to take on the two Spaniards, who had been taking long shots at me the whole ti...

  9. Battle 13: J. Lieutenant Maxer der Grosse, Surprise 38 guns Wednesday, 07-Oct-2015: Tonight I attacked a French Trade Brig with my Surprise between Cuba and Haiti. I wanted to practice the maneuvering of the vessel against an enemy, whose ship was smaller then mine, but not that much. Entering the battle, I saw my adversary and started sailing toward him. Within the next few seconds other ships joined in on the battle. After about 5 minutes there were close to 15 British yachts and myself ag...

  10. Battle 12: J. Lieutenant Maxer der Grosse, Surprise 38 guns Wednesday, 07-Oct-2015: Close to Jeremie today, I took my Surprise out for the first time. What a feeling. It is a real ship with enough guns to put a grin on my face. Unfortunately, I had a rude awaking regarding the handling of the ship. In a battle with two other British vessels, both larger then my Surprise, they out sailed and maneuvered me, putting themselves correctly into position to fire upon the enemy. I was lagging behind...

  11. Battle 11: J. Lieutenant Maxer der Grosse, Yacht 12 x 6-pd long Monday, 05-Oct-2015: North of Jeremie I engaged French trade cutter and shortly after beginning the battle, a French Brig joined in on the fight. I was able to sink the cutter, but the Captain of the Brig was extremely skilled at backing his sails and maneuvering his ship so eloquently that he sunk my yacht in the end of a long engagement. With the additional proceeds from the trader and damage done to the brig I bought a Surpri...

  12. Battle 10: J. Lieutenant Maxer der Grosse, Yacht 12 x 12-pd cannonade Monday, 05-Oct-2015: Between Cuba and Haiti I engaged and sunk two Spanish trade cutters loaded with extra planking. I sold the planking for a good profit in Port Saint Nicolas, Haiti and replaced my 12-pd cannonade with 6-pound longs for my yacht.

  13. Battle 9: J. lieutenant Maxer der Grosse, Yacht 12 x 12-pd cannonade Sunday, 04-Oct-2015: Outside of Jeremie, Haiti I saw a Pirate yacht and engaged her. Indecisive battle. I took out half of his armor on both sides, until he realized his long guns were out of my cannonade range and took advantage of it. He had 4 pounders, which didn’t do me much damage. With the preceding’s of my battle I was able to purchase a Brig. I have 44 men and room for 110, so I am looking for able-bodied men on any...

  14. Battle 8: Ensign Maxer der Grosse, Yacht 12 x 12-pd cannonade Sunday, 04-Oct-2015: Using intelligence received from another British ship near Port Jeremie I headed North-West in pursuit of am American trader. After a short distance on that heading I saw my foe (thank you for the enemy intelligence!) and I engaged an American yacht. One-on-one, we were equally balanced, but his battle tactics were much more refined then mine. With my cannonade, I didn’t want to waste time in long distance...

  15. Battle 7: Ensign Maxer der Grosse, Yacht 12 x 12-pd cannonade Sunday, 04-Oct-2015: I sailed from Port Royal in Jamaica, to Jeremie on Haiti. Outside of the port I saw a pirate ship engage a British ship and joined in on the battle. Once in, I saw 8 or 9 other ships. One I identified as a pirate, so I thought the whole British fleet came to help in the battle. As I approached the remaining ships, I identified them as almost all pirates. There were two medium sized British ships and myself and...

  16. Battle 6: Ensign Maxer der Grosse, Yacht 12 x 12-pd cannonade Saturday, 03-Oct-2015: After returning from Haiti, I stopped in at my homeport of Kingston (Port Royal) in Jamaica. As I was leaving the port I saw a battle starting and approached with great haste. Upon entering the battle I saw there was one enemy ship. A Spanish 2-decker of great size. On the British side of the fight, we had two brigs and three yachts. It was a brilliant fight with the yachts targeting the rudder of the Spania...

  17. Battle 5: Ensign Maxer der Grosse, Yacht 12 x 4-pd long Saturday, 03-Oct-2015: Just West of Jeremie, Haiti I saw a single Spanish Trade Cutter and decided to engage. When the battle started I was up-wind of two French Trade Cutters. (Does this happen often in the game?) I sunk both of the cutters, but only gained 3 k gold. It doesn’t seem like much compared to my previous battle. On the positive side my xp moved up quite a bit. Does anyone have any advice? Should I purchase a trade cutter or...

  18. Battle 4: Midshipmen Maxer der Grosse, Yacht 12 x 4-pd long Friday, 02-Oct-2015: Coming out of the battle I was again surrounded by French naval vessels, so I turned North to Cuba (Guantanamo Bay to by exact) where I saw a lone Spanish Cutter. As the battle commenced, I saw my lone Spaniard accompanied by two other Spanish ships; two cutters and something else small. I started firing upon all of the vessels, but they were well organized and only out of luck, was I able to break one ship off...

  19. Battle 3: Midshipmen Maxer der Grosse, Yacht 12 x 4-pd long Friday, 02-Oct-2015: After leaving my homeport of Kingston /Port Royal on the Island of Jamaica, I sailed to Haiti, where I was constantly dodging large French vessels. Every time I would find a trader ship, there were simply too many large French navy vessels to attempt an attack. Being nearly surrounded by French vessels I stopped at the neutral port of Jeremie on Haiti. I saw one British frigate and decided to attempt a crossing...

  20. Battle 2: Midshipmen Maxer der Grosse, Yacht 12 x 4-pd Wednesday, 30-Sept-2015: Off the coast of Jamaica, near Port Morant, I saw a British trader and hailed him. His non-response lead me to believe that he was carrying contraband (along with the message I received stating that he was carrying) and I choose to attack him. As the battle started, I came into a scene with a British ship much larger than my own positioned on my side. My heart sank and the only think I could think of was to fire...

  21. Battle 1: Midshipmen Maxer der Grosse, Yacht 12 x 4-pd Monday, 28-Sep-2015: Off the coast of Jamaica, near the port of Kingston/Port Royal, I saw a battle starting. In my very first action on the high seas, I entered the battle in progress to see an American Constitution fighting against 3 British ships. Five ships were involved in total, including my humble yacht and I was confident that we would take the lone enemy and I would have a good chance to gain some experience. Being merely a mi...

  22. Today, was my first day on the high seas. What a challenge. It took me 5 minutes to figure out how to raise the sails. Are there any tips for beginers in any of the forum discussions?
