Maybe they could have one more popup box like are you really really sure you want to do this and if you do there is no going back?

 

You did have click the box that warned you..............

People can make mistakes in their haste in the heat of the chase.

Maybe they could set it up so that as a pirate if you send enough enemy ships to the admiralty they will re-instate you.  

["Duel Mode" With friends/group members]

I support this wholeheartedly.  It would be a great way for new players to do a bit of training with their more experienced peers.  Or just knock the hell out of your friends to prove once and for all who is the better captain.

When I try to select a character it does not let me begin playing.  Instead I get this error message.
