[Wind Scale, wind effect on a Ship]

Some variation in wind direction would definitely make the game interesting.  When sail racing it's the crews who can make the most of wind changes that come out on top and so it should be in Naval Action, imho.

I have not read the thread in its entirety, but please may I recommend that when I hit "enter" after using chat box that it takes me back to normal game play. . Meaning no need to hit ESC... And the Eventual keyboard pounding that occurs when I cannot understand why I am either STILL turning or cannot turn at all

 

This catches me out so often ...!

As a complete noobie to Naval Action, and indeed Age of Sail combat in general, this is a excellent guide.  Although the terminology did take a little bit of getting my head around and I need to re-read the whole thing again....

 

flip = turn to the other side of the wind while having the wind blowing from your back at all times

 

 

I presume that is is the same as what I know to be a gybe / jibe maneuver, as in: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jibe ?
