There is going to be an Early Access Launch but we don't have a safe release date yet scheduled. We want to launch in Early Access at the best possible game state, so that the game is playable, stable and enjoyable, not rushed out.

Can't wait, this looks good, any idea when this game will get an official announcement?

It is a completely different project entity, not having any similarity to the previous Ultimate General games which were about land combat. It is a bold project that we finally decided to make, after years of interest on this time period and the corresponding naval genre.

This is great, really interesting era and topic

    Hello again,

It has been quite long before we updated this thread with more information about our upcoming game. We would like to post two pictures showing our work in progress: "An armoured cruiser in shipyard".

    UltimateAdmiral_Shipyard2.jpg

At this time we want to announce a round description of what this game is about:

Ultimate Admiral: Dreadnoughts or short version “Dreadnoughts” is going to be a single player game on ship design and combat covering real and fictional wars from 1890 to 1936. Like all the products from Game Labs it will give a fresh and unique look on that era with great attention to detail and realism of ship fighting.

More official information is going to be provided in the coming months in this thread. Thanks for reading!

So is this a continuation of the Ultimate General games or a new entity all together?

    ... and Vampire Hunting!

Now seriously, as a spaniard and from a foreigner point of view, got some questions: How was the CW in places like California, Texas, etc? Totally non-existent? If you moved there you were save? What about the local enmities between some states (like Jayhawkers and Bushwhackers feuds) as reasons to support the war, aside from slavery/anti-slavery? Do you consider those feuds a firestarter also, which would end fueling a secession?

    * Being myself an avid fan of Ride with the Devil and Outlaw Josey Wales...

The Civil War was very existent in the West. The Confederacy attempted an invasion of Nevada early in the war but it was repulsed at Glorieta Pass and Valverde and the the Union government was worried that local rebels in California would attempt to seize San Francisco. I would argue you'd be less safe out West as the locals tended more towards handling their debates themselves if you know what I mean. Also, the fact that the Federal Government was focusing on a war wasn't lost on the Native Americans and they heated the region back up during the war, even as far North as Minnesota. As for the state enmity question, the "Bleeding Kansas" feuds continued through the war, the only difference being that the two warring parties were now backed by governments. And yes, I consider "Bleeding Kansas" to be the opening skirmishes of the war and a huge arguing point for North and South.

    Ultimate General: Blitzkrieg!

Zoom the map out so that instead of individual farm buildings, you have towns and cities.  Units become divisions (along with some smaller artillery and specialty units) and the player controls up to Army Group level.  Operational/Strategic level.  Campaigns, not battles.  Real chain of command- i.e. give orders to Corps or Army HQs (or Fleets/Task Forces & Air  Forces) to cut down on micromanagement.  Includes Air and Naval.  Be able to build stuff like fortifications, airfields and the like. Scenarios include Fall Gelb, Campaign for Guadalcanal, Operation Typhoon, Operation Overlord, Mediterranean Campaign.

Thread said 'no matter how insane'.

This could be good for WWI as well! Dig trenches, Units are Divisions, Massive European map plus Africa and colonies

Agreed, customization weapons wise would be limited.

The Napoleonic era does offer 3 types of infantry (light, line and guard), 3 types of cavalry (light, line and heavy) and 2 types of artillery (line and horse). Cavalry and artillery can also be given a further customization as guard. So while weapons customization is limited, unit customization is quite varied... which would be especially nice if you could see the difference on the battlefield.

    Now, this is a hint!

Bah, if we think about it in a cold simple way, a napoleonic game is totally obvious : it's the most money making machine, it's a natural ambition for a game designer to want a make a great game about this holy totem of an era. I mean you nail Waterloo and such properly and your game becomes the Sid Meier's of its time.

So I am pretty confident I will get to play an ultimate general Napoleon by next christmas time. Book it !

    I'd say sooner than that
