Ned Loe
I would like to see editable ship figureheads. Those can be made by players as well as sail pattern designs. You can also sell some cool looking sail patterns/figureheads for $. Post figurehead images that you like:

Månis
The figurehead of the Vasa. A roaring lion from the north holding the coat of arms of the king.
PegasusUK
Pretty cool figurines. Always wondered why one would dump so much decor onto a ship making it heavier, did they not think back in 1700's that less is more? as in more speed while sailing. Lemonater47
Everything has to be about money with you. You could simply give them a million dollars. Anyway how would you go about making the figureheads for the game. Every ship is different so it would be very hard to make figureheads fit on every ship. Same specs and same back part for all figurehead models. Figurehead can be auto scaled for each ship. (Duplicated for each ship size and used on request). Lemonater47
In case you haven't noticed the bow of each ship is different. So each figurehead having the same back won't work.
Mirones
the arms holding the shield and the head of the lion would be recylable geting the torso is the least hard part since it is not as detailed. thats we he means not just Call for Money like Ctrl+C -> Ctrl V. Because the ship themselfs wasnt only a weapon of war, they were a tool of propaganda. A way to show the wealthness and culturistic power of a nation. But also to put fear into the enemies by wearing symbols that seamen where afraid of etc..
admin
right now static figureheads in the future probably. ps you won't be able to see enemy figurehead from distance - and when enemy is close you will be on deck firing or preparing for boarding. so its going to be mostly for yourself. Perhaps one other avenue to display these would be allowing a player to "walk the dock" and look at any ships that happen to be docked in the port that they are in at that moment. While it may not add a lot to playability it would add to the overall ambiance of the game.

Salty_Jack
I just wanted to bump this topic, today I was thinking it would be cool to have craftable figureheads for ships, some would be very basic and others would be more elaborate, perhaps that would inspire the crew somehow? It would be nice to personalize a ship a bit

I think people making youtube videos and such would probably enjoy having an extra personal touch to their ships.
mouse of war
I think it could be an added income stream for the devs - for a (small) price the opportunity to buy a different figurehead - perhaps even a more distinctive paint scheme All within the bounds of historical precidence of course
