Trim types do what?

Recommended Posts

Ah I knew it was out there somewhere, thanks.

Where does Teak fall in that?

And planking says more to less. What does that mean exactly? I'm not seeing the outcome of that.

Trim :

Build Strength:              More hitpoints to your ship

Crew Space:                 More crew

Rigging Quality:            Better yard, rigging management

Planking:                       Decreases the amount of leaking/ the rate of leaking.

Wood type:

Fir:                               Fast speeds/ Worse armour stats

Oak                              still speedy but less than fir/ little bit better armour stats than Fir.

Teak                             Slower speed/ Good armour stats.

Live Oak                      Biggest speed penalty/ Best armour density

This is how i have learned it , correct me if i am wrong.

I think with SOL's you are better off with teak/live oak  and frigates oak/fir.

But again, correct me if i am wrong:)

I'm pretty sure it goes Live Oak, Oak, Teak, Fir, You inverted Teak and Oak according to http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/7029-ships-inherent-characteristics/

Actually that thread doesn't clarify Teak at all that I can see. See lots of questions on Teak but no answers there.

Fir > Oak >Teak > Live Oak Log

That might be the order of crafting menu but doesnt reflect the stats, an Oak built ship has more amor than a Teak one, but the Teak is faster, so its Fir-Teak-Oak-Live Oak (from fastest/weakest to slowest/strongest)

Fir = Best Speed boost (+) / Low Armor stat (-)

Teak = No speed bonus (0) / No Armor stat bonus (0) / Low price (+)

Oak = No speed Bonus (0) / Normal Armor stat (0) / "Planking" (less leaks then Teak, but no speed nerf) (+)

Live Oak = Low Speed (-) / Best Armor stat (+)

I've heard people say Teak is faster then Oak, I built all kind of ships, compared 2 ships of the same kind and never got a Speed boost out of Teak.
