. How about national ship trees per faction and ship type(frigate) progression

Recommended Posts

In world of warships each nationality has a ship tree with only its historical ships that one can grind through. Plus you have to take a ship type line to grind through, destroyers, cruisers, battleships or aircraft carriers.

I suggest this because ship progress may be linear hence forth to ensure everybody plays in ships and ensures all thr great work of the devs on ships duly appreciated.

for example you join the British faction and start in a yacht (starter ship is always nice): Bit then must choose a tree branch:
merchant, frigate, light frigate, heavy frigate, brigs etc.

The tree for a ship type can of course require you first have a ship from another tree first so people do not for instance start on a Bellona grind right away..... Or maybe they can?

But my main point would be that if we are going to be linear hhow about we eventually aim for national historical ships or at least that some ship can only be gained by playing a particular nation. For instance if you go American you may eventually get a Connie but cannot get this as pirates or British.

P.S. Sorry this was typed on my mobile... have a look below and pay particular attention to the arrows.

Note that in naval action the levels would mean nothing because of the open world and that lower ships in the tree would still be useful.

It's more from a collection standpoint. Note that it is possible to grind multiple ship types (columns) at once.

Progression is nice, but lets stay away from linear progression like that, please lets stay away from that.

However one point you bring up, id like to see nation specific ships like the pirate frigate however they should be few and they should not be more powerfull than the all nation version.

edit: also regarding linear progression, i think it will do the opposite of making people like ships, they will make people hate otherwise fine ships, i have experianced that plenty of times in warthunder, world of tanks and world of warships, if i have to fly a plane for whatever reason or sail a ship or drive a tank, sometimes il grow to love them, other times it wont matter, but most often il start slowly hating it because i am forced to sail/fly/drive them.

The way I see it you can still customise the buggery out of each ship, this just does what the admin wants. Stops people from only playing OP ships and ignoring particular ships they have spent a lot of time modelling at least initially and with the national restrictions it will also stop a flood of the same ship types everytime you login. Problem is the devs would have to flesh out the national trees significantly.

Once you have a ship you can then build and.use the 5 lives of a.hull of.its type all you want. Like grinding plans to use.

this does not adress my concern of forcing people to sail what they want, people were mad when we are forced to sail 2 ships to rank up(i dont have a issue, wish it was rates rather than specific ships but i understand), this system will Force people to sail all the ships, it will turn some ships into hated ships not because they are bad, but because they are forced to sail them, perfectly good ships will be just grinded through and not enjoyed because they want to get to the ship after, sure all the ships will get sailed then, but only a few will be enjoyed, if we have this system with the amount of ships we have now, i would think that the amount of different kinds of ships people enjoy now, people wont enjoy anymore, it will just be this eternal grind to get to the victory and depression as you are forced to sail ships you dont like, i dont want that, the admin and devs have been kind and given us a nice progression system, i think they should keep on with this track rather than go the entirely oppisite direction and make it a chore, a grind rather than a fun experiance.

Yeah, I was hoping to see this in NA. Clean and organized way to show stats, upgrades and ships. In this case devs will need to introduce ships in packs for each nation. That can take more time, but if they open up donations for new ships it can be done. This tree can also make sure that everyone tries all ships.

Tree Branches:

-Light Ships (Maneuver ****, Firepower *, Armor *)

-Frigates (Maneuver **, Firepower ***, Armor ***)

-Merchant/Warships (Maneuver *, Firepower **, Armor ***)

-Lineships (Maneuver *, Firepower ****, Armor ****)

Why would you want this? a tech tree would be cool to see all the ships in game but i sure as hell wont a progression system like world of tanks or world of war ships, being forced to sail ships you dont want is bad, it is alright now as you dont excactly need to sail them to sail another ship(you can sail the frigate without ever touching lets say the yacht), but if this system is introduced and you are forced to sail the yacht, it will turn players away(example is better when more ships are introduced)

If you want people to try out all ships, i got a tiny suggestion( i know im in this thread a lot but i hate this idea so much), why not allow people to try all the ships in a battleroom? them alone with some targets(which dont shoot back or anything, that just lie there)

there will be no grind line like that. the Naval Chareer will look diffrently with some mix of the honor kills and a selection of Ships with diffrent orders for certain parts of the Map.

but yes some sort of tech tree were you can look at the ships with more detail would be nice.

I don't agree that we should have linear ship trees.

Not everyone is going to have the time or patience to grind through linear trees. Total freedom in a game to pursue any ship, class, trade, etc. is what will allow the player driven economy to function. We already have had the addition of honor kills required to progress in naval rank, and I think that should be enough to force players into certain ships.

This game does not need to become a World of Warships clone set in the Age of Sail. This game needs to differentiate itself from the others in the market, as it has done so far, and push toward development of a believable, living, and immersive experience in the AoS; in so much as is possible with PC Gaming.

I still like the idea of having to use specific classes of ships for specific duties. How to determine what duty would be assigned to which class of ship would have to be thought out by the developers. This would make the sailing of each class of ship within the game a necessity throughout the life of the game. You're not then forcing the player to sail all classes of ships just for the sake of forcing them to do so, rather, the player is sailing them out of necessity for particular monetary rewards, goods and materials, exploration, escort duties, or xp. Once again, this is just a fundamental idea on how to utilize all classes of ships for the players benefit, so that they would want and need to sail all classes of ships throughout the life of the game.

dont think of the tech tree as grind but as overview what ships are aviable for wich nation and so on like this:

- A naval career with missions, honor kills and ship affectation (?),

- And ships availability depending on your faction (nation) :

Are they two hot news from the devs or simply two ideas of yours ?

The Commerce de Marsielle is in game already? And the Niagara? Are you sure?

I made that graph, the ships in white are either ships that are ingame or ships that have been build but not yet available to us.

So yes, i am sure, i am very sure.

EDIT:

Note how it says existing instead of 'ingame'?

no they are confirmed ones that are in the work and WILL be ingame. the others are just proposed ones to fill the gapes+ were plans are aviable. as admin said the new ships come when the time is ready. focus is on game mechanics like Port Battles, Crafting, Fleets for testing the AI reacting to comands and how they deal with these. after all this is done we will get some new shiny toys fore sure.

the current system is not the final one you will get when you go the navy way( you are still free to go as trader or crafter or on your own as privateer)

the Admirality will then hand out missions next to honor kills wich are basicly the same just with certain areas of the map to Patrol etc. to make the progression more dynamic and not so dull and linear.

Fraction ships depends on how you look at them they wont be restricted on nation but i am sure there are some patriotic players who will sail either French/British,Spanish only if they play for that nation.
