Both at first (if I'm allowed to), to try.  :)

Just two thoughts about the PVE server :

1) I'm just curious about the way the PVE server will handle real players :

- Will they be invisible from each other in OW or

- will they be visible but unclickeable (no attack bottom available) ?

Likewise, how about joining ongoing battles between a real player and NPCs, between NPCs ?

2) Admin characterized the PVE server as "calm and peaceful". In my opinion, these are two scary terms for a Age of sail combat game  ;). "Even" a PVE server should also bring its share of dangers : http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/7391-interview-of-naval-actions-admin/

Both as well. Monsieur LeBouteux makes a very good point. I NEVER imagined s PvE served as only calm and peaceful. Thought of it as an arena where players could cooperate against AI. A training area so to speak. With areas that are conflict free to practice aspects other than combat.

i hate the black and white PvE/PvP border its only a matter of how we implement it.

in the end we could simply make an far away region for PvE like Canada or Europe

I'm saying PVP now, but I have been in maybe 6-7 PVP battles in OW and every single one results in immediately going to boarding by whoever I'm facing. It's really really annoying.

Its the current meta-game, likely wont stay that way forever....

Im not playing on a PVE server...

PS: Your poll is worded all wrong :P  Why wouldnt you have gone with:

Q:  Which of the following servers would you be most likely to play on at this time?

1. PVP

2. PVE

Un-biased polling mate!

I do not see what is wrong with the current setup, A little of both if there's going to be Player escorts implemented or a way of paying escorts it will need a change in trading profits to offset this, a purely PVP server would be boring a Purely PVE setup would be boring. You need the un certainty to make the game what it is. Please do not go either way a mix of both, I guarantee if you go either or, eventually people will leave through boredom. I must admit I do not PVP much trying to hone my skills before attempting player combat but if it comes along now I will give it a go, but as previously stated it has become a battle of the boarders. Not combat skills, there needs drastic changes to current boarding dynamics, Imo. Suggestions have already been made in other threads. Slowing down sailing ability and cannon reload time, damage to vessels that just ram and board at full speed increased, the crew are preparing to board  so will not be able to do other functions as effectively. There are a lot more qualified people than me to suggest penalties on boarders. Bring back combat no more boarding fest. I love the game apart from that keep up the good work.

Don't worry : there'll always be AI bots on the PVP server to compensate potential drop of player attendance on the server when needed (if I remember well what Admin wrote). But the reverse isn't true on the PVE server  :).

I think when the game is introduced people should have a choice in what they want to play, PVE OR PVP it should be up to the individual player to choose. PVE should be exactly the same game as it is for PVP. still choose your nation, play with friends, craft ships, capture ports. All other nations are your enemy apart from the one you are in. It would be good if you could introduce this now for anyone who is interested to test. This will also give the devs an idea of how many people are playing and which one they like the most
