Crazyded

I want to report Crazyded for running away continually in the Trafalgar today for the Large Event.  All he did was run on survival upwind where no one could catch him.  He wasted all of our time for a long time.  As of right now it has been 37 minutes of running at least, and we still have 8 minutes left.

As we get together once a week to play magnificient battles of grand scale, such behaviour is stealing other players time and twarting player driven content. Who wants to play another battle like this right after? There is nothing else but to call this intentional, malignant griefing.

This was a common behavior for people who start participating in the events. We have seen this before in the Sea trials 1. Players were trying to save a ship or attempt to win by running down a timer.

Battle circle is bugged now i think - it should have solved this problem.

  • Captain will be warned.
  • Battle circle will return next week.

Could you modify it so instead of the player that sails out side of it just exits the battle instead of sinking? And award the win to those that are left in the battle?

I'm confused. What is the relevance of ending the battle with one inconsequential enemy vessel still afloat?

Everyone knows that your side won, and the game doesn't assign victory to a side.

Well will try to explain

You lose ships in the events now.

Some people prefer to save the ship and run around in circles. Because if another side exits then their ships are lost too.

I haven't been in the big fights yet. Are you saying that if someone that you can't catch runs and you exit the battle then you will loose a dura? So if we join for these fights then we need to either win or sink. Its an all or nothing fight. Don't run as a rule?

Why do you require all or nothing wins, since that is the core motivation behind this behavior? Instead of battle circle, why not add combat timer for teams. If it runs down without combat, players can exit and team with advantage is credited with a win. If someone wants to run and save their ship, let them, just acknowledge that retreat is a form of defeat. Give XP and gold bonus to winning team so that fighting and then retreating is not as advantageous as fighting and winning.

Even with battle circle, all or nothing wins still encourage griefing behavior. You make it harder to run or avoid combat, but given all or nothing conditions, then a player that is faced with certain and quick defeat if they fight and no possibility of retreat is still encouraged to draw out the match as long as possible to make the maximise time consumption and frustration for the winning team. Battle circle is just an ugly bandaid for the core problem.

yes :)

1) partial sinkings needed for victory

2) ability to exit if you are out of combat and have already destroyed 80% of enemy fleet.

3) etc...

Please propose ideas in the list format explaining how that should work. and not here. this is a tribunal topic.

start a topic about events please - its important because rules in events are important for port battles. Whatever does not work there will not work in PBs
