Trading and economy feedback

Recommended Posts

More information would be better.  The market interface and lack of information is struggling to keep me interested.  I understand that other game mechanics are demanding more attention, but to develop a successful economy and a market for humans to deal with other humans there needs to be more tools and information presented.  Allowing individuals to be able to do more would help fill the current void in the economy with player based goods and content.  The game environment's immersion factor depends on it.

In my opoinion is the main Problem, that there is no tutorial, which explains how the system work! There will be grafics needed to explain the system simply! Like the following grafic, this is good examle how to build a tree for a prduction concept and the related resources.

Hello - A few thoughts on problems and solutions. Trading

The implementation of standard trade goods weights has caused a problem - It has effectively taken approximately 50% of trade goods out of play - see following

For example - A Indiaman in game currently has a value of around 100K - so lets look at the economics of using one for trading.

Allowing weight for Guns and repairs leave a carry weight of 3900 or 39 items of trade goods - the figures are as follow current profit margins are at approx 80%having be lowered from the previous 180%. Weights on lower value good has been raised to 100 weight per unit.

A Indiaman with goods of Rs 5000 value can make a profit of Rs 4000 X 39 = Rs 156000. This gives a reasonable risk reward factor.

A Indiaman with goods of Rs 400 value makes a profit of Rs 320 X 39 = Rs 12480. This is extremely poor risk reward. I for one will not risk a 100K Indiaman for such a low profit.

This has removed a lot of trade good from being traded as the risk - reward is to great on lower value goods.

This could be corrected by reintroducing the weight to value system that was previously in place, on release the Player numbers should jump significantly and this will increase the trading risk even further

. Many players decry trading as being Carebearing however try sailing 4 Indiaman full of trade goods when every sail u see can mean death and destruction and a significant loss of Reals. If you want a Adrenalin rush try that on for size - sailing a high speed ganking ship that runs from every fight unless its a sure win is the real care bear player.

Regards and good health

Low value trading goods could just weigh 10, in sted of a 100. Then you can carry 10 times more per haul making it them more balanced compared to high value items. With more players there will also be more traders buying trade goods, and then there might be a shortage..

This is not entirely correct. Production value and even NPC value of the resources needed to build it doesn't even come close to 100k reals to build an Indiaman.

On the Player Market prices perhaps but that's not how much it costs to build a Indiaman, not even close.

One, that's not the main point, his main point stands even if 100k were to be exaggerated.
Two, if the value does apply in the player market then that's no different, if you can sell an Indiaman for 100k to another player than that's it's value. You're still risking 100k if you can sell it for that much.

i wish that the trader tool stays in game, and also want to express my wish to increase npc traders again, also looking forward for trading patch, because at this moment meany ports are empty or the wrong goods are there so u can bairly make money (trade goods whise) for example in britain its a dissaster. also the npc traders passing is totally not good, some people do enjoy pve to on a pvp server, im not speaking here for myselve im speaking in general. i also would love to see more goods in the ports again woods and all sorts of them , now u can sail the whole gulf of mexico and find 95% ports empty, what is totally strange because there is bairly any server population these days, aldo it has risen to 500 on good days, mostly its arround 300 and we need to go back to 1000 plus continously and more... greetings, a vet.
