Please post your major annoyances

Approaching a lone trading ship and going into battle to discover he now has an escort ship or two that have teleported into combat from nowhere.

Not much point checking the horizon for ships when this happens.

Ship availability and pre-installed modules. Because ships are limited to 2 module slots the content of the pre-installed slots vital. Most ships I find have undesirable combinations.

The description of the green addons of the ships. I have a small screen (15") and can't read them (On 25" I can read, but this screen is not always available). Please check the readability of your screens also on small sizes.

The description of the battle is not enough, you don't know if they are NPC or humans inside (perhaps a membre of the nation who needs help).

National chat is hidden in battle.

Ship with 30 % damaged sails and half (or less) crew stiil at almost same speed as me, turning (in those circumstances) is far too well.

OW Spyglass

Ability to control yards to turn sharper in OW.

Some basic guild features like a guild tab would be nice.

Major annoyances:

 

1. Not enough players (testers) OW is loosing players interest as we speak. Players have a short attention span. Invite a couple of hundred more i'd say, or decrease the area of operations.

I feel, something big/ new needs to be tested, whether that is crafting, port capturing or increased PVP fighting by inviting more players to OW. I understand testing boarding and  the trade system need to be tested, But i believe that could be tested alongside things like port sieges and skirmish mode. That way, every  type of player has something to test. But yeah, just more players would do just fine.

 

2. I feel lately alot of thoughts/ topics etc have become just fights between guys from certain guilds. I think regardless of which nation we fight for or which guild we belong to  ( if any ) we should just accept that not everyone has the same opinion and perspective of thinking. And that is a good thing, that will make sure feedback and suggestions are being discussed from multiple angles. What i would like to see is, that if someone argues against your case, just accept that their point of view is not yours. 

 

3. It is to warm in here. Need a beer:)

The devs won't open up servers until they are sure servers can handle more people.

Don't wanna break open world do we?

Sure, thats why i said we dont need thousands:) 

New testers brings new fresh feedback with it. Nothing that can beat that. The guys that have been around have been spoiled with older features:) New look on things from players that did buy the game, but are not made aware of it due to lack of communication ( no blog update whatsoever for months now).

They said they had 7000 pre-orders, just send an email to 10% of those, randomly selected i dont know, and thats it:)

( and obviously not all of that 10% will start playing OW, if 50 testers stick around, thats awesome)

1 - Diversity of AI fleets

2- AI fleets that are set to certain BR levels (100,300,600, 100, 1500, 2500+ etc) 

3 - defence fleets should be set out in a ring lower BR fleets furthest away higher ones close to port.

Since the last patch, whenever I try to capture an unescorted trader (of any class) a whole fleet (6 to 10) npc ships of my own nation jump into the instance and try to sink my prize.  This does not happen if the trader is escorted, or if if it is from my own nation smuggling contraband.  (I have filed F11 reports).

New ships have only 1 or 2 modules while the old ships like mine still have 5 which I think is very unbalanced and unfair towards new players. But who wants to give up this advantage ? Unless it is changed by the DEVS.

1) Trading.  It's annoying that you can only buy one 'slot' at a time (100 oak for example) while you need 30 'slots'.   Please improve that slider so it goes up at least 5 times more.

2) Battle circles in OW need to be more accurate  (I clearly escape from AI enemy, yet the battle starts).

3) At the store - please, bring back more stats for ships' description.  For example, right now you can't see the speed of the ship.

Smoke needs to dissipate based on speed of the ship and wind velocity.  It makes no sense that it would hang around your moving ship.  Even a slight breeze or tacking into the wind should move the smoke out quickly and it should dissipate more rapidly.

 

Tab targeting would be nice.

 

Targeting could be better.  It would be nice to be able to set an elevation and have that held especially if you get into a running line fight.  My gunners will know the proper elevation once a hit is made. Maybe there is a better setting for mouse sensitivity for aiming, but you need much faster sensitivity for looking around.

 

These are hardly major issues for me but the ones that bug me the most.

I was in the process of teleporting to an other port just outside a nation port. I was AFK to get something to drink and suddenly saw the "Entering Combat" screen when I came back. After the battle the teleport was on cooldown and I have to wait 8 hours to use it again.

 

I would suggest something like a small area around the national ports for a limited time protection. It's really frustrating to get attacked by a fleet while in the process of teleporting right NEXT to a port of your nation.

Imho damage on sails should be higher,  i am focusing on pvp right now and 90% of time   the scenario is: or 1 guy running from others and take even 40 min to chase him, since you slowly dmg sails he repair and go on until time run out  (at list sails dmg should slower more the target)

 

 

 IN 1 vs 1 is pretty much impossible to hold down another player, he will simply sail away, unless you spawn very close and can throw 2-3 good shoot  , or unless you are in a much bigger ship 30-40+ cannons able to damage a lot his sails before he run away

 

Nobody use chain shots becouse  balls are as much effective+ they destroy mast , chain shot need to be double effective than now tbh.

Current chain is much more effective for reducing the sail percentage quickly than ball.  Ball just has a chance to demast, but that takes time.  Sounds balanced to me.

 

If sail damage was easier to achieve, I have a feeling all fights would be shoot everyone's sails until they can't move, then go for hull.  Don't know that's a good idea.

1. Spawn points for enemy AI in battle.

    Working on placement in OW relative to the enemy fleet. When I have the wind, I start the battle, but the fleet ships (not the one I         tagged) spawns upwind from me.

 

2. Not alot to do other other than farming.
    Some national goals like protect that area ore block that trading route ore something like that.

    To make this bouth profitable and meaningfull the game will need some sort of reputation system towards the different nations.

    This will also lead to PVP if two nations get the same "mission".

 

3. Hmmmm. Hard one. I did not expect you to release as mutch content as you have, so I'm overall really happy with what we have right now.

    If it have to be one more thing, I think it has to be that the "world" seems smaller now than the first releases off OW.

    I specially noticed that after the reworked OW graffic.

World is the same. We overdid the heights in virgin island and around Gustavia but the map (distances) is the same

It feels small because you have grown as a captain. Just like your childhood yard. It now feels small for me too.

Would be nice to see the occasional small SOL fleet (2 or 3) to give us loners a challenge. Usually its big SOL fleets and suicide to attack.

I think what fight against big SOL fleets is a challenge. But if there are a small SOL fleets they should be reinforce by a few frigates, 2nd rate, 3rd rate.

Have not read the thread so apologies if a duplicate:

 

Buying/Selling trade goods needs 'sell all' and 'buy all' buttons per item as well as the current buy and sell buttons....I want to be able to sell, for example, all my pine in the hold and buy, for example, all the iron available in the port upto the limit of my hold and gold.

 

Also the limit of 2 upgrade modules....3 would give more flexibility
