kjg000
I don't play UAD often any more as I was unhappy with the direction the game was, and in some instances still is, taking. However I still occasionally check in here and on brothermunrow's channel. I'd like to commend the brilliant work brothermunro, o Barao, NathanKell and others have done. Lets hope some of this ends up in the core game. Speaking of the core game I'd also like to applaud the progress the Dev's have made over the past few weeks. in my opinion they have made more progress recently than they have over the entire period from the end of Early Release to 1.5.x.x. Sadly it is not yet enough for me to resume playing or to recommend the game without mods, but it is getting there. Not being a fan of micro-management (in games or elsewhere), I find the lack of player AI a game breaker, the UI still needs extensive rationalization and improvement, and end/beginning of turn information needs to be better presented and available for review by the player throughout their turn. For the latter I'd commend the Dev's to look at games such as Grand Tactician:The Civil War's UI. Certainly not perfect but a much better example than is used here and certainly better than the one item at a time torture we have now!. Fleet management and TF functionality also needs a re-work. For a start, stop TF from randomly merging just because they happened to cross paths somewhere along the way, as well as better list management including the ability to filter the fleet page by at least 2, preferably more, columns. Dare I hope for this to include the ability to name TF and treat them as unique entities? One such named TF could be a special case in which the player could deposit ships intended for convoy escort duties, including convoy ASW. I must admit, when I do play, I remove Subs and Flaws as I don't think they are balanced or add to game-play. OPTIONS gentlemen please! BTW the earth is not flat, and what you have does not simulate, or even suggest, using a naval chart! Having said all this, and acknowledging that this is by no means a comprehensive list, I am more hopeful about the game now than at any time since it's premature release into Early Access.
