Yeah, using priority is a net negative effect.  If you didn't use any, you probably would be average.  That's my experience.  That's why I don't use them.

Yeah, Technology is still way off.. i have 21billion GDP, which is average and relatively close to US 27billion (1908), i had technology slider at 100% entire time and never used priorities, yet im VERY BEHIND, while every other faction is AVERAGE..

 

Yet, they are still sailing old pre-dreadhought battleships, while im already building Dreadnoughts and are able to wipe the floor with everybody quite handilly.. i have longer range torpedoes than others, etc..  in 1.6.0.6  i would be ranked as VERY ADVANCED, yet in 1.6.0.7 its VERY BEHIND... makes no sense

The old AI ships may be outdated, those that are built, but the technology will be rated always compared according to what is accomplished for each player.

The new campaign AI is more efficient in technology funding than before. We have already reduced the tech research bonuses for the AI difficulties due to this. Do you play normal or other difficulties?

I play NORMAL when testing Betas. My only issue is, as player, i do not have any direct impact on Technology, besides the slider, and making sure i have high GDP.. so If Im investing 100% to technology, its very strange to see falling behind. Yet, on battlefield, it doesnt feel like im behind. AI might have slightly better ships than if autogenerated, but they are still way off in terms of technology compared to my ships.. simply put, certain tech is more valuable than others.. I end up having Krupp II armor while they are running Harvey, i have Dreadnoughts when they still use Battleships.. yet, im VERY BEHIND no matter what. (sometimes it goes to just BEHIND, but it quickly goes back to VERY BEHIND)

The rating is average of all techs, so if some techs are more important in combat, it does not mean that overall all your technology is better, which in a long term campaign it should show the impact. Usually players complain why AI cheats (???) and sinks so many of my transports or I cannot have good battles vs AI or why AI has more money or why AI builds ships faster etc. It is much depended on technology.

I dont mind that.. its just inability to catch up in this build.. in 1.6.0.6 you can easily control the technology research. Priorities can speed up important research, without being way too damaging, so it feels like I have control... in 1.6.0.7, control is gone, and im passive observer.. its never a good game design, when "Dont Touch anything" is the best course of action for player...

There have been fixes already on technology priorities. We improved things that the majority of the community have asked, to not have so harsh penalties when we prioritize on technologies and not make techs too easy to get prematurely like the radar technology. Yes it plays differently but is more realistic this way, and it should still be beneficial to use priorities according to needs.

What about making BEHIND and VERY BEHIND thresholds a bit larger, so you dont end up with that so often? Make AVERAGE rating wider, and BEHIND and VERY BEHIND less likely to appear (unless you are truly completely behind vs others)

 

FYI, cant reproduce that hang, second time i loaded the save it worked. anyway, when it happens again, i will report it (didnt know i could Ctrl-J on loading screen - maybe put the "bug" icon there so players know they can do that?)

Maybe if you wait it will load? How much did you wait to load?

Average thresholds for technology work accurately at the moment. We will see in practice if AI is too strong for players to modify its technology manipulation.

And it happened again :) this time with bug report submitted. 

 

It just loads the battlegroup, and wont move from it..  left it load for 5minutes but nothing.. usually it loads it quite fast (got new PC, 7800x3d, 4070 Super and 32Gb ram so game loads quite well)

Hmm, it seems it was corrupted. Can you attach the save found in your saves file, it is not deleted from the folder.

Search files with name save_0, save_1, save_2, save_3, save_4 which are the 1 ,2, 3, 4, 5 saves of the campaign save slots.

 

EDIT:
If you have edited saves, then this can be a reason for the bug and the game just prevents it to load, so that it does not cause a fatal crash. But we still look to it, just asking to be sure.

Another question,

Did you load the save, you have seen the empty list battle, but you continued to play next turns?

Or you exited the game immediately?

It will help to know step by step what was your procedure after loading the problematic save, what were your actions, if you remember.

yeah, it was empty, so i clicked on withdraw, it didnt work (fleet did not escape) so i clicked autoresolve, and it just hang again and was unable to load the save anymore

I did not edit the save

how to attach it? forum wont allow .bin extension (should i use Mediafire or something else?)

In the meantime, we probably found the reason, we will let you know. Can you zip the files and attach?

zip is not accepted either

Thanks again to everyone who contributed in the beta! The new update is released. As a small mention, we have fixed a few more bugs that you reported including the retreat button not working in some Task Force battles of the campaign.
