Markus1985
Recently there was quite the debate going on about the front heavy ships something my self could relate to in my recent campaign. During the recent patches I've played an Austrian campaign starting from the very beginning until the 1930's so far, which have gone pretty well. But during that time I encountered front heavy hulls which frustrated me and led to my post in the recent update patch topic. But when I took a closer look it seems like it's not as far stretching problem as I feared, and that not all of the hulls are front heavy and that it is actually possible to design ships that are well balanced. That being said there are still several hulls that I believe are balanced wrong, in the sense that the white line of balance is placed too far in the front of the ship, which by some reason tips the scale in favour of a front heavy ship, which doesn't make sense when you think about it. Thus I went through pretty much all of the available hulls through the unlocked customs battle mode to see which ones run the risk of being front heavy. Among the identified hulls most are DD's, CL's and CA's, the one thing most have in common is that their hull isn't flat and feature highs and lows, where the line of balance is placed close to the front transition between these high and lows. This bring further difficulties when you try to balance the hull, since you are limited by the hulls topography and can't place things as freely as you can with a flat hull, thus making it harder to balance. Down bellow follows screenshots of most of the hulls that I believe should be edited, so that the line of balance is placed further back to the middle of the hull. It should be noted that I haven't tried to design a complete ship for all of them, only opening them and eyeballing how close the line of balance was to the front. So feel free to correct me if they aren't as hard to balance as I believe, as well as if there are more hulls that are unbalanced and should be corrected. Markus1985
An example of what I mean. This is the experimental Cruiser. Although it isn't necessarily the best way to build or optimise a ship, this CL still looks like a balanced and aesthetically pleasing ship to me. Even if most of the weight is visibly at the back of the ship the fore weight offset is still 24.2 %. If you try to build the ship you'll also notice that the white line of balance barely moves to adjust to whatever you remove or add onto the hull, as if it is frozen in place. Zuikaku
With all the info given I hope they are going to adress this.
Северная
They should address this, but don’t get your hopes up. At this point, it’s basically just modders working on the actual issues of the game.
