Sandermatt
I am normally playing with only 1 battleship and this time I actively tried to start as many wars as possible without escalating unrest and prestige loss to the point I get replaced and all on legendary dificulty. At the beginning, there is a high risk of loosing the campaign and it felt really like a challange to survive. The thing is as soon as I get ahead in tech and the sailors get experience I can pretty much sink any fleet I want. Within less than 10 years, before even reaching dreadnoughts the advantage is extremely hard for the AI to keep up with and as soon as dreadnoughts hit it will have zero chance. There should be ways for the AI to keep up. Things that could help are: 1. Make experience less impactful. This way veteran ships don't become quite as oerpowered 2. Make tech scale less with investment to prevent the player from outpacing the AI too much. 3. Introduce a higher difficulty where the AI builds even more ships. xPorkulusx
I'm actually curious about the build for this single-battleship navy... How'd you do it? It sounds like a fun challenge at least at first.
Sandermatt
Not a special design, focus somewhat on speed and defense over firepower so I can get away if things turn south. I typically use mostly 9 inch guns many 2 inch guns to sink torpedo boats before they get close. Eventually I will have mark 2 guns, veterans and rangefinders. When you have a 50% chance to hit while they have 2% its pretty much shooting sitting ducks. I max out tech research, crew training and transports (no need to finance much else) and typically build multiple ships in parallel and pick the one with the least flaws and scrap the others. Whenever decisions pops up I focus on GDP, unless its a very favourable tradeoff in favour of naval budget. Dont micro BB too much, AI is good enough. Humans on other hand dont have instant reaction vs torp, unlike AI.
