How do I use campaign ships in the custom battle section?

There are two things I would really love to do in Ultimate Admiral: Dreadnaught.

One would be to have a "library" of historical designs to use in Custom Battles.  Like have the HMS dreadnaught face the USS Baltimore.
That would require generating the designs for historical ships.  I think fans would volunteer to do this job.  I'm sure this has been discussed before.

The other thing I'd like to do is probably easier.  Have my ship designs from the "Campaign" saved to a location on my computer and be able to open these files in the custom scenario section.  This way I could test some of my designs against each other.

The AI often designs some interesting ships that I'd like to "examine" more closely.  I have taken some enemy ships in reparations just to open their design in the shipyard and see what makes them tock.
