Need help with refits

The refit button is always greyed out for me, but im 99% sure it said it was added in version 1.05. how do I refit my old ships?

You'll need to create a "refit" model first. To do this, select an existing an existing ship design, click on view. Enter the refit mode by click on the wrench icon. Make your changes and save the design. The refit button should now be available. The ship(s) you want to refit must have a status of "normal" they can't be in battle or repairing.
