Can't Save New Game

I've played Ultimate General Civil War for a long time with no problems. But now, during a campaign, when I save the game during a battle the game duplicates an older saved game. Once I get past a certain point in a battle, if I save and then later load that saved game, what appears is a saved game from days ago. So, I can't progress in the battle or campaign and save the game.

I've tried deleting my old save games, but that doesn't work.  I believe I have lots on room on my hard drive.

Any suggestions?
