Core Patch 1.0 News *The upcoming changelog*

In the sense that they attempt to cater to the same base of "naval history enthusiasts", yes, they are competitors.

If I’ve learned anything from being on this forum, it’s that those people are not enthusiasts in the same way as Jutland Pro,Totem Games, Victory at Sea, Silent Hunter, War on the Sea, RTW, CMO players.

WOWS and WT are ultimately shooters.

Still, pedantry aside, any community needs community engagement and a community manager. I peeked over at Steam and things are just as, maybe more, tense over there. It’s something that needs to happen as development stretches into 2022.

Wow, 1960s technology. Exactly what you need in a game about the First World War.

Wow I cannot believe I read past that without catching. @Nick Thomadis please revisit that idea. That isn't even WW2 technology, see HMS Grey Goose. I mean hell nuclear reactors went to sea the next year.

You don't. You constitute the loudest. There's a large variety of comments here, in style and form, and the majority of negative ones are being spammed by a single person (not you). You are loud, yes. Your posts are numerous. But the number of people posting optimistic messages is greater.

Funny, I see his post has 10 member likes and yours has 0, and his post is one of the top 3 most liked in this entire thread. Pretty sure that means he speaks a majority opinion based on that alone.

I'd be glad to be a community manager if it means we get better info, and i keep people in the loop better. Im just hoping they won't try to strong arm me too much when it comes to things i can or cannot say, but if it gets too much i can leave anyways.

Not sure what game labs stance on community managers (from the community it-self) is, I reckon they should have two managers one on here and another on steam as this forum is basically perma-tabbed on my browser so it's instant for me to access the forums as well.

And im glad we are finally getting the new patch, however that doesn't mean we can just let the devs off lightly. There was a lot of info in why they did the things that they did in those posts that weren't mentioned which would of calmed most people and also made them understand more.

Which is why communication is vital, otherwise i wouldn't be surprised if people go mental in chat. Imagine the forums if this was the call of duty community lol.

You can call me slow on the trigger, but i just realized what Nick said

No way, really? Saying nothing about your plans to pull, from your words, three core patches into one and delivered as one in November might have been a good thing to tell us? Oh gosh spare the thought.

And it still doesn't answer the big question, how will the rest go? What about the fourth patch? You're gonna pump it out in a month and all that while releasing the game on Steam while giving us no time to provide feedback for you to integrate? Or are you simply not gonna do it this year and spend the rest of the time fixing whatever bugs come?

See this wouldn't have been a problem if five minute was taken to type a message and update to your 2021 development plans while the Steam forums basically had a thread calling to mass report your steam page for scam concerning the delays and redirection to your own website for the 50 bucks edition.

Hey Nick, thank you for the update. One question though;

But if you notice what we promised and what is going to be given within the year is literally 3 core patches into one.

Does this mean that with this patch, the game would be up and available to be purchased on Steam?

The way I see it, there are two practical choices for everyone bored waiting:

  1.  Understand that there's a global pandemic going on that's disrupting everybody's work at the moment, take what you can get, civilly nudge the development team in the right direction, and play a different game while you wait; or
  2.  Continue getting uber-buttmad every other month when the patch doesn't drop exactly when you expected it and discourage and alienate the people working on it in the process.

I don't know about you guys, but I sure as hell wouldn't want to keep putting what is doubtlessly mountains of effort into my passion project if thousands of people I've never met before are relentlessly shitting on every decision I make with it.  I'm pretty sure this game is only being worked on by one person, so cut them a little slack.  It's entirely possible that your particular make-or-break issue isn't even being tracked yet.  There's a Bug Reports section on the forums that nobody ever uses and even a reporting tool built right into the game.  Use them.  Slow development isn't the primary issue, slow development without communicating, is.

Whether or not "passion project" is the acceptable development cycle for a product that costs $60 up-front is a separate debate that 100% needs to be had, just not in 30+ pages of incoherent screeching on the patch announcement thread.  Please.

I want to be excited for this news but I'm just not. It doesn't sound at all like the game I bought. I played the leaked campaign, I have no idea how that compared to the full vision at the time but I liked it. Now to hear it was totally thrown out and replaced with something that sounds most definitely lesser is just sad. This doesn't sound at all like what the game was marketed as, still marketed as I may say. And it's been well over a year now where you've "just been working on the campaign" and this is it? No peace, no diplomacy, no overall map, no complete tech tree, just a random duel to the death? I'm obviously not privey to the details of what's been happening with your company because that just doesn't make sense.

I'm aware this is early access and being disappointed because the dev decided not to make the game that you bought is the name of the game. Which is why I'm never buying an early access game again. It's also why I'm strongly considering never buying a games-labs game again, this development has been so bad I don't trust the company anymore. Guess Ultimate General and Age of Sail were flukes. Could we get a solid explanation of why the previous campaign was entirely thrown out? It honestly seemed good, wasn't complete obviously but it looked good. Exactly what I, and everyone else I know that bought the game, wanted.

Even the steering gear part being added is probably going to be non-sensical just like the different rudder options. I looked it up, as far as I can find the biggest difference between the different types of rudders has to do with what happens when the rudder jams. But for some reason, in a naval game that tries to say it prizes historical accuracy, rudders can't be jammed. Amazing work.

I could go on but I don't trust this to be good after hearing the previous iteration was scratched

For my parts Thanks for the info and the new patch. I perfectly understand delays, bumps and change to a roadmaps. This ok to have this kind of update in a Alpha game.

2 concerns:

A- Why focusing on no-German / British hulls when they will not play in this patch?

B-No Hulls from 1890-1910 ... sad!

1 critic:

All the negative in this forum came from the absence of communication. So please, keep us inform. Have a post once a week just saying hello and where you are.

They won't listen, they're too stubborn to comply with that. But if they do communicate more often, then consider me corrected. And surprised.

Just want to stay positif and have them realized most of the critics they seen come from the lack of communication and not directed at there works

Understandable, and I get where you're coming from. But I feel like it is a futile effort either way.

The good news is if the devs are not checking the blogs and forums then they have no idea how much they are getting shit on.

I asked them the same question. Why are they releasing a crap ton of Japanese hulls when the only play able nation will be Germany and Britain? Hopefully all the extra ship parts will allow us to build a larger variety of ships.

Do not forget we have not much from 1890 -1910... and usually the 1st stage of a game is the one we will play the most!

try to build a ship from 1890 area, totally repetitive and boring

Yep! Ain't gonna be much variety in the early stages of the game. The strat is probably finding a ship that works, then mass produce them for each class. Wait until you get more tech and hulls, then switch up as variety is an option.

Agreed. 1890 is going to be extremely boring, you have almost nothing to work with, weight is a huge problem, you cant do much in general.

yes, but at beginning we should have plenty of choice of style, placement, looks of ship etc.

and those choice should influence all our campaign.

Example, chose between 2 or 3 inch for small gun, and focus your recherche, supplies.  on this caliber

Early ships are completely unable to hit each other except for very short range in this game, so early battles are always really weird. Personally i just want more of the stuff we might guess from the name.

Give us more early hulls, give us more dreadnoughts, hell give us more pre-dreadnoughts! I absolutely loved the missions where you have to build a monitor or a confederate ironclad but its the only time it happens and feels awfully out of place for having two pre-dreadnought hull with wheeled cannons models.

More small ship would also be wonderful, the advanced italian torpedo boats, the armed-to-the-teeth french destroyers, hell, give us the japanese line of gunboats and escort ships if you wanna keep around that region

Focus just feels all over the place

So, we receive modern hulls again. Great....

At least we can try the campaign. I mean, a part of the campaign.

So what will we have between 1890-1910? The same hulls... I am sad, because we don't have many hulls in this period, and we begged for old hulls many, many times.
