Would like to see the lifeboats actually matters in the complete game

As the topic suggests, I have noticed that now ships sinking will leave a few lifeboats on the water for a while.

I think this is a great detail and I would like to see it expanded in the completed game.

The tabletop naval wargame I play, General Quarters 3, has rules for flotsams and lifeboats.

Where, you are required to rescue the survivors or at least not run them over or machinegun them.

Fail to do so will earn you atrocity points and potentially put the admiral on court martial for war crime.

How does it sounds?

Rule the Waves has a mechanic where you can order a destroyer to break off and pick up survivors from a sinking ship so it's definitely a concept that could work.  The actual consequences kind of depend on how the overall campaign works, but things like prestige and morale effects, collecting intelligence (if you pick up an enemy crew), rescuing specific officers (if you're assigning named officers to your ships) are all possible just to name a few.
