Plans for Reputation and Sailing changes

alts are not a problem is they are used correctly. There are rules about it, with clear forbidden activities for alts. But how you can control alts for preventing them to exploit a mechanic like Karma? the answer is not implementing the port bonuses crafting in that mechanic

please, can you bring back the first cannon damage patch also?  the patch where a 1st rate can wipe a 5th rate with a single full broadside.   was the best patch in the last 4 years, cause it gives a meaning to the struggle to use and craft a slow and fat 1st rate. a slowly deadly machine, as it should be

this continues, you can kill a 5th rate like a surprise with a broadside, and almost a belle poule, the changes in that patch are for fix penetration of guns.

Naval Action is managed by Game-Labs, all players should assume "Labs" means Laboratory  8))

From EA to now, long after final release, constant experiments are being implemented. 

It's amazing but little worrying...

I dont understand this part could somebody explain me? is 100m2? and what is the first sail area  and the last sali area?

thanks i'm not a sailor, i suffer of sea sick and i'm barely able to float on sea

yes, sqm are meant.

If you are on a sail boat and hoist and trim the first sail your boat will start moving. Let's say you set 10sqm of sail and your boat accelerates to 2kn of speed. If you set another sail with 10sqm your boat will not accelerate to 4kn but only to 3kn. So, the second 10sqm you hoisted are not as effective to boat speed as the first 10sqm. Boat speed is not a linear function of the sail area. There will be a speed which is the highest achievable speed of the boat. Setting still more sail area will not make your boat faster anymore.

no you can't, a trinco will resist easy to a single full Santi broadside.  in this old patch, every 5th rate was destroyed as it should be also losing masts and crew other than hull and structure...

5th rate has the power of speed and manouverability, 1st rate has damage and thickness/hp...so using a 5th rate you can be a danger for a 1st rate but if you make 1 single mistake...game over.

now if you do a wrong move with your trinco you can easily say ''ah ok, i take a broadside, rep taking distance and come back again'' ....no this is a crap, 1st rates are useless then

World doesn't suffer from people who correct their mistakes. World suffers from people who do not correct themselves, eventhough they have realized that they were wrong. :D

@admin Sad to see the delay, but good luck working out the kinks in the Karma idea. I hope that you guys continue down the path of national reputations and societal consequences -- but I get that it could go very wrong if not done well.

National reputation + NPC open world behavior changes (aggression and evasion) seems like the final piece of the puzzle. Adding that sort of depth would effectively step this game up from an MMO to an MMORPG and would broaden the appeal quite a bit. The game still feels "unfinished" in a way, without this system.

From the looks of it I doubt we will see the karma system for a long time, it will be another of those ideas that will just fade away same as clan warfare which was watered down and changed so much from the original idea that most liked.
