New Feature Proposals - Art and other various featurs. (Not related to combat, RVR, DLC or Economy)

Please post your ideas related to ART, Texts, localization, and other issues not related to RVR, Combat, Economy and DLC proposals. 

Standard rules apply.
 

Please propose your ideas in the following way.

  • 1 Post = 1 Proposal.
    • Players will vote on 1 proposals only. Multiple proposals will mix different subjects and confuse.
    • Multitiered or multi subject proposals will be removed.
  • Keep the proposals on the topic subjects
  • Do not comment. The thread is for proposals only
  • If you want to improve on other people proposals contact them so they can update the post. 
  • Best proposals will be brought up by the system based on likes and we will comment on them once in a while. Proposals which dont get community attention will be ignored and will sink to the bottom.

Would be awesome to hear a whistle and the rumble of drums when you start to tag another ship. If sailing in a group it would be helpful for them if they hear that sound as well.

Caribbean climate realism proposal

  • Caribbean climate realism change rationale
    The look of the climate and weather should be something like the real-world Caribbean. Making this change would brighten up the whole game and make the environment more realistic and less depressing.
  • Caribbean climate realism and whats wrong
    As it stands, the climate/weather in-game, is just too gloomy and reminiscent of the North Atlantic.
  • Proposal on Caribbean climate improvement
    Have a good look at what the climate is like in the real world Caribbean and please emulate that in the game. I've always said that this is one of the most imperative changes the game needs, to make it more convincing and uplifting.

Generosity of loot and mission rewards proposal

    The loot and mission rewards seem unnecessarily miserly.
  • Generosity of rewards: what's wrong
    The loot from most AI ships, and the rewards for many missions are incredibly stingy. Take, for example, the Group Kill mission, where three first rates have to go up against five AI first rates. Completing the mission involves some risk and takes time, and yet, after the rewards are shared equally between the three participants, it amounts to (1) a silver chest, (2) a mission chest and (3) 1500 doubloons. The silver chest and the mission chest invariably contain items of disgustingly negligible value. The 1500 doubloons is also dishearteningly miserly for such a mission. But honestly, most rewards in this game are just too stingy, and give little incentive to keep playing.
  • Generosity of loot: change proposal
    There have been some recent tweaks to the generosity of loot and rewards, but massive improvement is still needed. If there was a higher probability that we find something of real value in mission chests and silver chests, and in sealed bottle wrecks and loot from AI ships, it would make the game vastly more worthwhile.

Open World NPC Ships and Fleet settings

Well i am not sure, but i think Open world fits in this categorie or?

 

I would love to see NPC Traders with escort ships.

Sure there should be some traders without as well, but the really good booty should be in smaller fleets

1 - 2+ Trader and 1 - 8+ escorts of the same or one higher rank?!

 

The Traders will run, and the escort will stop you from getting them, which makes it very interesting to group pve at the open world

 

The more escorts the higher the Trading good values in the Traders!

quality of life improvements


it is all about infos stats and what you can do on see, minor things which annoy newbies after they found out how it works exactly


- let us all our storages ships stats and blueprints (all of them) and and be viewed anytime on sea, just make the journy to the next Port more interessting with all the stuff to look at

it is very annyoing that i cant look at the placed guns, upgrades and books at see, why not i am on the ship, i should be able to see that

the 2 different stat windows of ships is very annoing, ship in fleet window stats needed repair ammount, ship stats at fitting window does not show this anymore (and the needed RUM for crew is missing completly!)
for pros or ppl which do nothing else, as this game it might be ok... but pls let us see this infos more and better

- in the fleet window i need some better ways to look at my mighty ships, like filter them or at least sort them by rank and and, in additon let us set flags (like favorites on the ships, with a little Notes mousover, where i could wirte personla info like PVP fitting speed!)

- at the ports to buy ships ist just ugly... let us see all or at least the first 50 ships which are for sell, newbies like me struggel a lot, i thougth the game is dead after my comback 2 years later, because i did not find a singel ship to buy....
if i want to know whats the cheapest ship overall its almost impossible because ill need to set som sort of filter, and never can see or compare all ships costs!...

i think there are many more minor easy to do Improvements, which spped up and help make this game very enjoyable ! please devs make it much better infos/stats on all of the important stuff and make it easier to manage the stuff i have ingame all over the places!!!

Easy module/upgrades comparison

By this I mean that when you are in port and try to fit in new module/refit/upgrade for your ship you can see in bracket () new value of stats. When you are in window with upgrades when you place mouse cursor on upgrade you can see change in ship stats, maybe numbers in bracket of different colour e.g. (+0.12).  I know that old sea dogs know by heart all equipment stats and changes in ship stats but for new player it is not so oblivious.

Coastline artwork customisation.

Introduce customised coastline artwork that better reflects the geography and vegetation of the real world areas and regions reflected on the map.

In the current implementation, coastline geography and vegetation is monolithic and lacking diversity across the map and therefore relatively bland and uninteresting; integral to the game as a feature (you can’t sail on land) but not adding value from an immersion point of view. 

Develop differing coastline geography and vegetation that better reflects real-world locations. This would add immersion and appeal while sailing within visual distance of coastline as well as providing broad visual navigational cues from region to region and as you transition between regions.

It’s not integral to the playing of the game (other than the minor navigational benefit above) so is a pure artwork request in that sense.

Battle Commander's interface.

Naval action, apart from solo/small PvP battles, also has it's obvious, RvR and/or large PvP battles, which can't be performed without proper commanding officer. That officer has a very difficult job today, due to lacking interface. 

My suggestion is therefore to add a new feature to Battle Instance interface, where a commander could see the status of each ship under his command. The interface would be triggered with a hotkey. The information about each ships would be as follows:

Hull/structure status

Sail position

Sail status (HP and how much of the sails is set + info about depower).

Ship's speed

Ship's heading

Ship leak status

Ships gun load status.

I'm not a UI designer, but I was thinking about it to look something like that (example of 25 ship group):

I'm not sure, if the above is the best way to design it - perhaps there are other ways of showing the same data in a less cluttered way, or maybe have another hotkey, that would hide certain details, starting from the very basic hull info, then adding the course and sail info after another key press, up to full info including guns loading status and then back to the basic hull info, so that commander could chose the desired level of detail.

On top of that, clicking on any of those status boxes, would move Your camera directly to that ship, just like You can do, after You sink. 

If You could move those boxes around and add ships do different, maybe color-coded groups, then that would be even greater addition.

I think this would significantly improve possibilities for battle management, and perhaps, add another level to it.

Allow scuttling of a ship in an outpost to which we cant teleport anymore and following that, enable outpost warehouse check to determine if deleting an outopst wont cause us to loose valuable assets.

Group Kill Mission

So far we have one Group Kill Mission for up to 6 Players.

Is it possible also to have it for:

up to 4 Players.

up to 8 Players.

and up to 10 Players.

So that more people can join a Mission, because sometimes you have one too much and or less players online which then can't play.

Hi !

For some of us the problem of the patrol zone is  that is a gank  place.

I suggest a new specific patrol place in addition of the other Pz where  the belonging of a nation does not matter.

It could be called FFA patrol zone. 

The captains would join a battle side A vs side B. But for exemple if a russian join the battle in  circle A, an other russian can still join  circle B.

I suggest that every captain entering in the PZ is anonymous and without flag 

It could solve the excessive number of russians in the patrol zone and make PZ more exciting.

Navy signals (new Perk) 3points?

Enables the players on the group of the Navy signal Perk Player to see his protractor and waypoints on the map and on the OW compass.

Ship events every day all around the map in a form of solo AI ships, with obtainable ship notes allowing to choose type of wood but also permit drops for crafters.  50-50 chance for any of those.

Includes: Le Requin, Hercules, L'Hermione, Santa Cecylia, Diana, Indiaman, Rotterdam, Rattvisan, Leopard, Bellona, Le Redoutable, De Ruyter, Montanes, Victory DLC, Santissima Trinidad.

I like both of these ideas. At least in open world allow the countries navy flag to be flown and also would be great to walk around your ship inside and out, allow upgrades to things to help boost crew moral and to your cabin making it more like home!
