So we see the 25% combat news report for hostility on Pasaje, i make my way there in a bellona, checking the port and then i get chased by a Privateer fleet to to the above location where it tags me. This needs to be reduced and balanced better. Once tagged there is no chance of getting out, i cant even put a defensive tag on due to BR difference. Due to this ive got 1st rates who are all able to shoot 1 broadside into me, i start a repair but it doesnt matter. 2mins 30 secs and im sunk. Either change the range, speed of them or at least make it so we have some kind of chance of getting out. This is closer to a swedish port then the capital.

Ships with BR under 100 dont get tagged by privateers. Common, you are Havoc! Fight back the hostility in pandoras !

😁

Nah of course you are right ... think only possibility is to reduce roaming range of them, because If you make em less deadly they wont be able to protect the Capital waters ...

Had a fight vs pirates at baracoa. Was a fun fight after that back to windward channel and than choose. Towards British water or LT. Ohhh damn. Privateer Fleet incoming. I am not entirely sure how they work. As far as I know from farming them and doing other stuff it works like this. You go deep into there zone. Nobody appears. Finally one fleet showing up. You grind and fight them. After that you sail back. You have to fight 2-3 more fleets!  So if you tag something in the zone it looks like they won't let you go back or out.  This is ridiculous and complete stupid.  Some cover for new players. Yes great. But their range is beyond every expection.

Btw.   The spanish ai fleet will tag you when you go out of key west and standing afk in front of the port.  The range is very high and with that no ship can go from let's say Isla towards the gulf of Mexico. They will get tagged

The privateer fleets are home water protection, this is a port right next to their capital. So I'm not saying it is brilliant for attackers, but the Privateer fleets are working as intended. They do attack enemies in the close vicinity of their capital port 🤣

I wonder why every single AI needs to have the 'prepared' perk. They don't get enough buffs already and perks already?

Maybe if they didn't have that you might get  chance to escape them.

The fleets are a response to groups of people parking 2nd 3rd etc rates outside capitals and sitting there fishing.

In due time there will be a similar response to people doing the same with snows, princes and what not.

Most changes in this game are a response to people's behavior in the game.

That said....  there should be a mechanic that allows you to reach the zone to deal with the hostility. On crude thought, consider a hostility flag. When hostility is raised eligible clans/nations get a mission they pick which gives them fleet immunity in the area where the hostility is in. that immunity remains for the duration of the event +10 minutes to allow you to bail out after. caveat is during this time, people with the hostility flag cannot tag *anything*. you cannot attack *anyone* *anywhere* or be  drawn into battle either, so you dont get to exploit it. you can ofc fight if somebody else tags you. basically basic cutter approach.

well tbf, all ships should have the prepared perk. Since you can see the ships from so far away you would expect the ship to be ready for combat when a ship gets close.

The only time it wouldn't be expected is if a ship sails false flag towards a "friendly" ship, say a pirate ship sails a british flag towards a british tradeship (insert Black Flag Scene) then it wouldnt be strange if the tradeship wasnt already read to fight.

Sounds like this is a consequence of taking ports close to capital waters.  Clearly it wasn't an issue taking the port.

Yes becuase back when we took it this system was not in place. So now how is it fair that DK and sweden have 40 point ports protected by AI, while all other nations don't have any real benefit from the fleets in terms of protected ports.

I like the idea of these fleets with protecting new players arround their capitals but I feel like they are far to limiting to map movements with the big range they have. On top of that they are an amazing defence against PBs/Flipping Ports for some nations.

So. Remove Privateer fleets entirely and thus the protection of Oranjestadt?

I'm in favor of that. How do u propose to protect PvE'ers?

I said I like the idea of these fleets but they do too much for certain nations becuase of how the ports are set up.

I am not saying they should be removed but maybe the areas they cover should be changed for certain nations. It is hard to balance them the right way as in GB they cover an area of them map where only beginners are while in Sweden or DK they cover areas which can be used for crafting.

I mean it prolly comes as no surprise that the privateer fleets were most likely coded into the game with the least amount of effort as possible and appear to operate under the “Roam until x amount of distance from capital”.  Logic and a little bit of pre-planning should have gone into their paths in the game.

That said you are relatively close to the capital.  There are also ways to mitigate the fleets going to tag you.  Send out a sacrifice or something.  The benefits of the fleets far outweighs the negatives of losing a Bellona.  Population is up because... surprise surprise.... capitals are finally safe and trading is profitable.

How about reducing the circle they patrol to the cap zones and make all missions taken in the capital drop inside the capzone.. that way the PvE'ers can be happy and someone can finally make host on Phillipsburg.

I'd say pop is up because trading is more profitable.. I didn't see a pop increase as they introduced the privateer fleets.. alas I wasn't much active at the time so I can't say for certain.
