short of crew for fleets

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

when going to battle bigger fleets( like 7 victorys )

my options are i have a ocean with 1100 crew

to engage bigger fleets i want to  have  more ships in fleet

lets say 3 other oceans in fleet

the only possibility is a  4 rate for 400 crew

therefore i am short of 3300 crew

is it possible to have 3300 crew extra ?? to make a competitive fleet to engage bigger fleets sailing around in ow

perhaps more ranks ?

perhaps a different rank scale ?

the perk extra fleet does not give extra crew ...is it possible to give 1100 crew extra for every extra  fleet perk ???

i have enough new  eggar crew waiting to board ship at the marine recruiting office @admin

I'm trying to think of a reason to say it's ridiculous to have all of that extra crew and the only thing I can think of is that it would give us some monster trader escorts.  Imagine tagging a trader in a 5th rate and finding yourself facing a pair of Vics!  Not sure how I feel about this...

3 players are 3300 crew, actually maybe even more. isn't 1400 with the additional rank now ? So... 4200 crew.

It really was on topic.  The currently accepted means of attacking larger fleets is to do it as a group (you don't actually have to be friends).  Devs encourage this and want more players in OW doing these things.  Do they want one player in four 1st rates or do they want 4 players?  I'd guess the latter.

agree

but like i said i have no friends but still see big privateers as a single player.., it thoughts/hits   many issues

i still believe the possibilities for the higher upcoming ranks and crew needs to have a discussion

The players on the Peace server routinely attack large AI fleets by themselves.  Perhaps they can advise you on these AI tactics?  PVE experts??   Anyone?

well i am a noob in those things (pvp/pve) (i have a huge problem myself in a trinc fighting a other  trinc soo...!

i do not know if the pve server has the same dynamic (i just don't know)

and  as single player in the pve server attacks 7 victorys i make a deep bow and want him in my clan for doing pvp/pve ,but that's not everyday's player i guess.

but it is also a question about the fleet crew and also the fleet perk (and ranks)

and not som much a question how we should behave in a single  battle (on your own or with other members)

I spent a ton of loki's after it was introduced, spent all my cash and stockpile them, and i'll tell you that in roughly 50 battles i invaded, only 1, only ONE, the player was facing a stronger AI ( not by much but was stronger model).

All the others were tremendously one sided.

Make no mistake of thinking others are awesome. Loki is a excellent way to thermometer how much risk players are willing to take, and generally speaking is close to 95% chances of victory or no dice.

So, definitely NOT a everyday captain that one. Not at all.

Understood.  Right now, a full Admiral can crew 4 Indiamen.  You want him to be able to crew 4 Victorys.  I don't actually have a problem with that. Most of us would find it easier to face one player with four, over four players (sucks for PVP battles).  I'm still trying to get my head around escorting your traders with a pair of L'Oceans.  Just another obstacle to overcome, I guess.

we actually were considering adding more ranks and increasing the crew allowance and are not against this

(were against before under pressure of some players with #nofleets desires but later changed the mind, as the majority plays the game differently)

If you are going to do it, can you change the rule about killing a player more than once as it applies to missions?  If I kill the player and let his bots go, I should be able to re-tag him in OW and kill him again for credit on my missions.  Otherwise, he's kinda getting a free pass.

if you play other online games where you want to do harder content you usually have to do them in group. You can try to solo, but would most likely fail. In other words its an online game, not a single player game.

one idea though, maybe hire officers? and they can have their own ranks where you can place squadrons, and if these officers die? they die?

When Loki was introduced,

I attacked ai  5x1st rates with my Ocean, later my friend joined with a 2nd rate.

AI was ripping us apart with very accurate stern rakes. Then I noticed 2 ai oceans shooting my sails, 2 loki oceans in my battle, they were not yet damaged :)

We sank them all but I lost a purple ocean. I hated loki that day, all my loki experience was having command of already sinking ships.

I would tag 6-7 npc ships by myself in the past, but never after Loki.

I do not know what loki added to this game.

sorry for off topic.

I am against increasing crew number in war server, 1400 ish is more than enough. It may be increased on peace server.

I've never had an issue with the Loki runes, but ...  It is very cruel that  we allow them in Capital zones where a Newbie may be fighting an expected AI, but it is actually a veteran who will tear the Newbie to shreds.  Just mean spirited and unsportsmanlike.

Sorry also for the off topic.

With all the high crew rated ships that are 3-400 increase crew would be nice. I would like to sail Leopard with a couple Indiaman and a Herc fully crewed or different combinations. People have their own unique play styles, it would not hurt the game only improve it to have bigger crew. There is no downside that I can see.

P..S. (off topic) please please please make it to where we can manage books in open world at sea

Im against more Crew. The Problem is fleetship gives an advantage in battle almost without risk.

Why almost without risk? Every PvP-Player just ignores fleetships because its a waste of time to sink em (no doubs).

I don't think so.
Fleet ships will still be there causing damage if ignored. In the end it is a competition who can sink ships faster or cause cripling damage = out dpm or out kill
