Hotfix for Privateer zones - Advance patchnotes for tomorrow.

Captains

Privateer defensive fleets zones of operation were slightly change (number of ships and their composition will not)

  • Mortimer town is slightly smaller and moved a bit north to unlock Windward channel
  • Spain zone moved slightly north to cover the gap below key west islands
  • France zone moved slightly south
  • Denmark and Sweden zones slightly reduced to open gaps between the areas
  • US zone moved slightly more to sea (was too much inland due to Charleston location)

Structure changes

  • Structure repair now takes the same time as planking (for some reason it was 2x faster before)
  • Very damaged ships (very low structure) now lose speed slightly faster, 0 structure affect ship speed much stronger (10% speed left compared to 20% previously)

 

 

2 changes for privateers are still in development and will be deployed within a month or two.

  • Privateer types - there will be 3 types of privateers 
    • War server only
      • capital zone fleets - will have strong large fleets - zones will be slightly smaller in the future
        • up to 20-25 ships (with chance for reinforcements if necessary)
      • key bases (naval bases) - controlling the town will give the zone small size privateer fleets - which will operate in the area and harass the enemy shipping
        • Medium size fleets
    • All servers
      • Pirates and privateers 
        • Free patrol privateers operating across the map and in patrol areas
          • Fleet size - solo or 1-2 vessels

1. I like the idea of privateer fleets!

2. Aren’t 20-25 ships a bit too strong? Might need some testing and tweaking (maybe reduced speed for them?).

3. What do you mean with reinforcements?

- Will the AI or players be able to call reinforcements?

- If so, under which circumstances?

Nice patch :) does this mean that Russia, poland and prussia will get Privateer fleets aswell? 

And what is the definition of a "Key Base"? 

Is it determined by income? By upgrade defenses? Or is it extra protection that the owner clan can hire these Privateer to roam their waters around the port to protect people from PvP?

@admin Might want to reconsider the BR limit, I can sail a Prince without consequence to any Capital cap a Indiaman and sail out. I expected the Indiaman in fleet to increase overall BR causing Priv Fleet to attack. 

Also can you adjust Priv Fleet speed in OW to only increase once they are trying to tag as they look rather comical speeding around like jetskis.

Welcome those smaller Privateer (groups). Do they still carry the special loot of the "seasoned wood" kind? Hope so.

Agressive NPCs all over the map sounds like a bad idea at the first look.. Around capitals they got a reason to be a thing, protect noobs - but on a pvp server, being attacked by npcs all over the map? I dont know. Will have to test

It's one thing for a trader to be attacked by a solo pirate that might of spent hours searching.  It's quite another to lose trade ships and cargo to a bot. 

Just when the server is seeing a little population boost and activity around trading, this is inherently a bad idea, if you must then save it for the PVE server as there is already enough hunters on the PVP server.

i hope you will nerf OW privateers speed. if they go at normal speed they will be a good implementation into servers

If you nerf their speed fast windboosted ships can just avoid em and attack players ... but it doesnt matter much ... gankers at Kpr already adapted ... they make now group ganking in 6th rates ...

I'm worried, Sir.

Over the last few days I have been doing a trade route between cities owned by enemy nations.

Those new fleets will kill me on sight! I'm so happy when I drop the cargo into the port, my enemies should be also happy with the money coming from the taxes of my cargo.

Means that also for example Islet will has her privateer fleet but more little?

yeah, this is a problem.  nerfing the speed of Privateer fleet  a trader can move to avoid them in a fair OW sailing competition and enter in port, he will have some problems being chased by Fleet but he has the chance to escape till the harbor.   if the speed stay as it is now , it's insta-death for every trader.  

imo, actual privateer fleet size is perfect to defend capital area...you should not introduce this 25 monster privateer fleet.

a correct number is : 11 ships for capital (as now, mixed ships fleet), 4 ships for minor port, 1-2 OW random privateer...i also suggest to introduce a cost for minor port Fleet that you have to pay from port management for every day of service like port timer, if the Clan ask for it.  250k timer + 100k privateer fleet (1 fleet) of 4 ships (normal OW speed, normal bot inside battle istance...they have to be a challenge, not a boring impossible battle vs over-crewed jetsky 1st rate Privateer Fleet).

This is the best update in a long time...if "free" means they are neutral, thus can be attacked by all nations and if they have wood chests for loot :)

basically it is a very fast response to what players (including myself) have been asking for a long time, last eg here:

Yes for PVE can understand why you'd want it since it must be boring as hello kitty there. But forced PVE isn't wanted on PVP server.

its so boring that we have a continuing movement of pvpers into pve.....:) (prime time player number has increased from 200 to 350, according to chat its mostly ex or part time pvp players)

Maybe PvP is even more boring atm ?

 You do know it's not a PVP only server, War server is PvE and PvP.  Peace server is PvE only.   I guess you can't be raiding coast lines in your little ship so safely now?

There is a difference between PVE on the War server of choice e.g carebears and PVE that is forced onto players which should belong only on the Peace Server, Raiders 

I don't recall many if anyone asking for forced PVE raids and battles on the PVP server over the past few years. 

Raiding coast lines in your little ship? Solo Pirate! What would you prefer I use a WASA?  Not exactly a Pirate ship, but a 6th rate is so that shouldn't concern you so much unless you've never read a book on the subject.
