Feedback on port mission raids - Just not worth it

Recommended Posts

Hi

I had never done a mission raid on a port before and new stuff is always exciting (and this was a key feature I was really looking forward to). So I a managed to trick 3 other players to joining a raid on Gasparilla. Gasparilla had 3KK in tax profit yesterday, so it's not the most profitable port in the game but it is a money maker no doubt!
So our hope was high for a decent payout..

After fighting buffed AI in front of the towers and forts, then capturing a Indiaman our epic reward was around 100K reals and 500 doubloons that spawned from the chest. Bringing out 3x 1. rates and a 5. rate for that "reward" when we had to divide it by 4 is actually just stupid..!

IMO Raid missions need a serious reward buff. Should at the very least 10% of the daily tax income of the port (300K in the Gasparilla example). It would be awesome if the raids where connected to the tax profitt of the port it self. So it would be a kinda of economic warfare thing, stealing profit from the clan owning it. Also giving a massive incentive to the port owners to actually try and intercept the raiders.

This has been raised before and the response was that you can all take the raid mission, so in your case your group of 4 could have done the mission 4 times for 4 times the reward.

So because we can repeat it as much as we want, rewards are shit. How about limiting it and make it count? I can't belive that is feature is used repeatedly by anyone. Would be a waste of time imo.

That is AI that attack ports, as in "AI port battles". I'm whining about players that take the mission to go the nearest  capital port.

I did not say I agreed with it, but that was the response we got from the Devs. They also suggested that you could take an Indiaman with you to the battle to take the loot but did not say how you were supposed to get it into the battle as fleet ships cannot enter. There was also no answer to the fact that if you did multiple battles that the chest from the first battle would probably have expired by the time you finished the last battle or before you returned to port.

At the mission you can hover over the chest to show what you actually get out of the chest. Didnt need to try that, good mission give you ~18k dubs and a few combat marks

Its really not a port raid though, in theory you're attacking a treasure fleet leaving the said port right after undocking.

A port raid would make alot more sense that you could engage any port without restrictions, you would have to stay within a small circle at the end of the harbour to fill up your ship with contraband from the port. Beating fort would be the way to go if there is any (encourages fort placement mechanic? ).

Same chests could be dropped over time. Also the same as enemy can join to intercept the raid from the Sea.

Also bringing frigates to do this with would be more favourable because the lineships are literally so easy to replace so everyone sails them anyway

I never hoovered over the chest to see what it actually would give/payout. We captured the Indiman and brought it back to port. So out of old habit I opened the chest in the hold of the Indiaman. Only thing that appeared in the hold was 500 doubloons.

If it spawned combat medals and Victory marks, that would spawn in the hold together with the doubloons right? 😅

The rewards are indicated on the raid chest when you look at the mission and depend on the enemy port. If you do not like the reward do not take the raid.
You can skip it if it gives low rewards and find another one - or find out enemy rich raids and raid the raiders (they are happening daily)

Just like the real life raiding minor towns is useless and if your city does not have rich cities in the vicinity you wont see any good rewards from agents in that city.
Capture a base near enemy rich ports.

We can reconsider some rewards and % of it. But raids should not be never a main source of income. They are mostly for small groups and small clans to get victory marks, some combat marks and doubloons. Some raids though can be very profitable. You just have to find them. They are not available from every port and require search

problem is that you're required to have 1st rates of which would probably get sunk after a raid becasue enemy players usually wait for after the battle to intercept, instead of joining the already existing raid battle. Required 3rd rates and up would require you to be max rank, and i think the majority of the community would think it was like a "pirate raid" with frigates etc, quick in quick out engagement, and run as fast as possible away from the sacked city without getting noticed.

Much like a bank heist in a much larger portion

People cannot join the raid battle against you as the battle does not show up in OW. If they see you going into a battle they can only wait till you exit.

It would be so nice if you increased the rewards! No-one is willing to do port raids, they keep saying "it is a long sail old man, also it is quite risky to do a mission in front of a crowded port and the rewards are meh".

I miss so much doing activities with more people. Sometimes, I feel so lonely.
