NPC Port Battles Explained. War server and Peace server information

Recommended Posts

Instead of forcing it on ports at random, make it a mission that anyone can request!   If a clan WANTS to defend their port, an officer can go to the port they want to defend and pull the mission.  Put rare materials and mods on the ships and a cash bonus if you win, so there's an incentive to do it...  and then anyone from any nation that WANTS to play this part of the game can, and everyone else can safely ignore it.

NO life traders?  What exactly are you than?  Sorry this is an open world MMO and there are many ways to play this game.  Some it's trading.  Some it's sinking AI. Others it's sinking only players.  So saying some one has no life cause they pick a different play style than your own shows your prob the one that doesn't have much of a life.....they are just doing what they enjoy.  Some of us like all the above (hint why I'm on War not Peace).

Not counting the 20 or more that were screening? You might want to actually check your facts before it makes you look stupid. Speaking of looking stupid, i counted 21 dutch first rates in the PB.................... so good job checking your..... facts.

Sorry for misunderstanding what you were saying. I read that as you thought the russians did not have over 20 1st rates. If what you said was true that they also had 20 outside then it seems the russians have a fleet that is rather huge because if they have that much on the east side of the map and what i have seen on the west side it is a scary thought of what they could do if they use the raid mechanics to weaken potential targets. I dont have any real access to what the dutch are up to besides the occasional one that shows up to destroy traders. So my appologies as my view is that while britain may have a population near what russia does, i have yet to see anything that would stand against the proposed fleet size of this ai raiding fleet.

No i was talking about the dutch. I thought you were dutch because you brought up the carta pb from the other day... either way if GB cant muster 20 PvE 1st rates i would be absolutely shocked.....and infinitely amused when they lose their crafting ports after talking so much trash about penalizing russia for having too many players.

I dont know about any trash talking regarding crafting, I know there has been a lot of upset players due to some entire clans switching to Dutch and coming back to the british ports to raid traders and such. My concern is that this idea will not pan out the way the devs think it will and I don't agree with the admin's thoughts that the 3 largest nations have sufficient forces to combat the fleets that the AI will be sending. I agree with the previous idea that initially the fleets should have been 5th rates to test with before dropping a mass of 1st rates in an area.

I dont know if it has been asked or answered just yet, but how exactly will the AI Raid work. Does a port battle show up on the list a few hours before the window or do they just sail in during the time window with little to no warning? How far out from the port will they spawn?

Captains

NPC have gathered all pain they experienced since launch and decided to fight back.
Here is some information on the NPC port battle raids that will help you prepare so you dont lose ports on first events.

War Server

Battle

  1. Raider fleet usually will consist of 16-20 Lineships(escort) and 4-6 indiaman (transports) and will split into 2 groups attacking from 2 directions

For Peace Server

  1. Raiders will attack random ports turning them neutral
  2. Hostility will be enabled for neutral ports so clans can capture the ports for themselves
  3. Raiders will also attack developed ports from time to time
  4. This will achieve the following amazing outcome for the Peace server
    1. Both PVE port defense and attacks become possible
    2. Port investments become possible (including port bonuses)
    3. Port clan control and taxation becomes possible

- is this also the same amount of ships / rank on the peace server? because this statement is set under "War Server" and not as info for both

> if yes, how should the PvE playerbase defend against it? i don't think we get enough players together  every time to defend  against it

> if no, what can we expect the fleet to be consisting of?

There is no competition on the Peace server - you can already enter any port of any nation and build anything there.  Some friendly effort related (not kill related) competition for tax rights will only improve the server.

so if I understand you correctly regarding the PvE Server

1. there is NO downside to all other players if whatever clan owns a specific Port (access, building rights etc...except taxes)

2. the only reason to capture it on Peace Server is Taxes

3. due to the reason that we can enter and build in any port, we also won't lose anything no matter which nation the port has

right so far...or wrong? thanks in advance

Raiders will attack most developed ports of top 3 nations.
This means they wont use any frontline mechanics

so the idea is to trash the large nations and kill off the remaining server population to a port battle by AI that dont show up on the map as an incoming fleet rather just materialize when the battle starts

Do I understand this correctly? You cannot screen, AI will suddenly appear in port and start the battle?

I understood that everything is done on war server to increase pvp (even this 20min timer), now we are forced to fight ai. I understand that you want to keep the big nation busy, to take some pressure from the smaller, but I don't think it is the right way to turn ports neutral when loosing the battle. If its a raid, AI should take half of all players items in the warehouses and from clan warehouse, but never capture the port.

We will see how it works....

It will be an event only for the vet players, that have big ships and can crew them.

that would just have people moving their items to useless ports that have nothing in them tax or investment wise to prevent what u suggested

Somehow it is correct

3 raids per weekend in total: 1 per top nation.

why top why not make it random between all nations otherwise ur just pushing away the largest portion of the server player base

Assets lost to bugs have full return guarantee

We are not best players and could defend the port internally in testing.  I am sure the nation with a full bonuses port can field a top class fleet to defend it and will defend it. But if so happens that someone will lose - it would happen because of bad choice of ships or because they did not read our first post with our amazing tips on strategy.

  • We understand that losing a 55 point full invested port is bad and will piss off some players, but please do not forget that losing a full invested port to NPCs will also ENTERTAIN the rest of the server which is a lot more people.
  • Large strong nations have strong hardcore veterans. We know that hardened veterans who built those ports by pvping and conquering and will never lose a port to NPCs unless other nations unite and screen them out.

u dont seem to realize whats at stake here.
1. your risking what remains of the player population on a major update.
2. if this backfires the game wont have many players left to salvage it.

3. loss of larger ports especially to large nations like RUS, GB, Dutch it will likely force players to quit. could easily loose hundreds of players to this.

4. why arent the smaller nations being targeted this type of feature should put every nation at risk not just the large nations,

5. these raid should abide by the game mechanics which include the frontline system.
6. why not just turn war server into a pve server with a pvp flag system. thats basicly what ur turning it into.

I can’t really see that happend.

- One thing those that do RvR have in common, is a basic hate for PvE interfiering with RvR and PvP.

- Those few that actually would do, wont sail the distance to do it. Take a look at your most likely target port and look at free towns. For most it will be a to long sail.

But will be fun to see how it goes. But personally I for sure am happy not to be in a top 3 nation.

most crafting ports are so far removed from the frontlines that this is just going to turn into which clan in the top nations want what port under their clan tag.

NPC aggression was promised long ago and will happen. I got sick and tired of this wax museum of bending NPCs with hostility switched off by requests of players who do not play.
NPCs will attack ports and unlike players will attach richest biggest ports.
NPCs will relentlessly pursue and **** everyone up near capital waters and on dangerous routes (especially in deep waters)
Getting to KPR if you are not a BRIT will be similar to getting to Stormwind as a horde.

u do realize getting to stormwind as horde is rediculously easy

Sorry I miscounted, there are only 19 1st rates there.

So before you accuse someone of something, you might want to actually check your facts before it makes you look stupid.

What. The first port to take is the regional capitol, witch to my knowledge is the port with most points, witch make it to the port you want to upgrade your shipyard in.

but the mechanic they are adding in doesnt specify that it will only attack regional capitals, and it will bypass the frontline system.

Sealclubbing will become WAAAAY harder indeed. I am very glad you appreciated this minor detail.

I just came back to the game after a couple of years hiatus and tried to log into the PVP server as a Brit on the weekend, only to find myself getting smashed over and over again (in a cutter) by huge ships.

Guess what? The "PVPers" who claim that the game is dying and players aren't joining are EXACTLY the ones to cause this exodus.

Thanks to this, it'll now be possible for new players to join the PVP server and actually sail their cutter, level up and eventually, you guessed it, actually be able to PVP properly and not just serve as meat for "brave" sealclubbers fighting Cutters with their 4th rates (or higher).

Thanks DEVs!!

This. This is hope for new player retention right there.

However, don't forget that there has to be a way to keep PvP alive. Fair PvP needs to exist, don't kill it with PvE.

Yes! See my previous post.

Hoping that this becomes a thing soon, so I can actually log into the PVP server and enjoy the content.
