NPC Port Battles Explained. War server and Peace server information

Are there any plans for PvP raids in the future - say if a small faction wanted to raid a large faction without so much warning?

Yes please.

this post is about NPC attacks on ports

I think most of us thought raids were intended for PvP raids to just steal resources and such, not flip ports. And I think most of us thought the NPC port flips would not be related to NPC raids, but simply just revolts via NPC Port Battles.

However, this will be interesting to see....especially see which nations actually have the population. Which on population...is this including all the dead accounts of players not returning to game, or just those active in the last month or since release?

Due the broken economy in the game meaning we get NO tax in most ports, does this now mean we have to put timmers on all our big ports and lose more money?

Why do this on the PvP server?

Raiders will attack most developed ports of top 3 nations.
This means they wont use any frontline mechanics

what happened to the original idea for Raids where players can attack/plunder another player held port?

@admin, I'm surprised updates of this magnitude hasn't been tested on the open test server, the game status is "released" after all! It would be very bad if problems were to upset the players, cause a rollback etc.

As a Noobie.

I feel there is enough to get my head round as it is.

Don’t get me wrong. I knew what to expect and I am enjoying it.

But this sounds drastic. But I am speaking as a noobie

I like the (in battle) mechanics, sounds interesting

I don't like the fact that instead of positive reinforcement by buffing smaller nations a punishment for big nations is introduced. A 'keep your ports alive' PvE tax .. they now have an appointment every week to defend their ports, or lose them.
I genuinely hope this works out and doesn't kill the fun for everyone. No nation had top dog status forever, so this can affect smaller nations, too.

Unfortunately NA - since two years - has been developed with the "stick instead of carrot" mindset (and that's maybe why the game struggles in retaining players).

@adminI dont like this simply because this is not PVP raids, but I'm excited to test new PB battle mechanic.
However my VERY strong suggestion will be that you first try this on NPC attacking SMALL ports that are satellites of the 55 point ports. Reason behind that is that your mechanic was never tested. It will be buggy. It will need balancing. Players loosing 55 port with full bonuses investments due to a bug or a bad mechanic gonna cost you and us more players getting pissed off and leave.
Lets test on smaller towns first

Assets lost to bugs have full return guarantee

We are not best players and could defend the port internally in testing.  I am sure the nation with a full bonuses port can field a top class fleet to defend it and will defend it. But if so happens that someone will lose - it would happen because of bad choice of ships or because they did not read our first post with our amazing tips on strategy.

+

  • We understand that losing a 55 point full invested port is bad and will piss off some players, but please do not forget that losing a full invested port to NPCs will also ENTERTAIN the rest of the server which is a lot more people.
  • Large strong nations have strong hardcore veterans. We know that hardened veterans who built those ports by pvping and conquering and will never lose a port to NPCs unless other nations unite and screen them out.

This is the punishment for all players who left their small factions and went to the most powerful faction to sleep at night ...
I think it's a great idea

I actually see this more a way to keep folks from port timer dodging by putting important ports in silly timers....now they have to still defend it if it makes the mark to get raided.    This could be used as a way for smaller nations to attack bigger nations too.  hit them when they are being raided on another port and they have to pick which to defend.

PVE: Very interested in what will happen to things in our warehouse/ships that are docked etc. in ports that are turned neutral or neutral ports that are captured by another nation in PVE, just nice to know if I should get my stuff out of a port that's going to be attacked etc. or if it's safe. :)

Not sure how the Peace server will do it, but for War we keep all stuff, just can't use your crafting buildings.  You can't telport in, but if you come in a trade ship you can leave with any ship and fleet.  If it's neutral you can still craft and do things, so that should stay the same (Peace server use to basicly treat all ports nuetral).  If it becomes another nation port you should be effected as above where you can't craft or telport in,, but all your sttuff is safe until you remove it.  You might want to hold onto the port in case it trade hands back to where you can use it again.

  1. Raider fleet usually will consist of 16-20 Lineships(escort) and 4-6 indiaman (transports) and will split into 2 groups attacking from 2 directions 16-20 linships is a lot of ships and what would the make up be, all 1st rates?  Would it keep to port BR limits?  If these are elite ships that is a large heavy elite fleet when we have folks struggle doing 6 elite ships in epic missions and you want folks to fight a fleet or them?
  2. To win the battle raiders will need to gain 1000 points
  3. Raiders get the points by controlling the control points AND by reaching the control points
  4. Transports get A LOT of points for reaching the circle - currently 250-300Is this per ship?   That is a lot of points all of a sudden taht 4-6 ships can end the battle.  Maybe make it first ship of the group gives points, but on some maps with wind you might not be able to get the second circle in time.
  5. Escort get some points for reaching the circle - currently 25-50
  6. All Raiders also get standard points for staying in the circle
  7. Raiders will not fire at forts Butt will Forts fire on raiders other wise what the point having the?
  8. Points cannot go down but you can slow down the point generation or avoid it by stopping the ships trying to reach the control points So they don't go down from sinking ships?   There needs to be some way to remove points when you have 250-300 points per ship and 25-50 auto gained on top of cap points.  This seems like it will be a very fast flip like when the Forts gave 250 points you could have a port flipped before any one could defend a circle.  Specially on certain maps where you have to go around coves/harbours to get to one or both circles.
  9.

My main concern is the point system and if the ships are going to be cracked out ELITE ships that are all 1st rates and such?  Remember not ever one is on every night so it's not that you have to have a fleet of 25 ships to defend it, you have to have 25 person per might that can be free from other things and defend the port.

If elite PvPers do not want to deal with getting raided, they can always shift to one of the factions that is not the top three.  Assuming Russia, the United Provinces, and Great Britain are the three largest that leaves:

France, Poland, Sweden, Denmark, Pirates, United States, Spain, and Prussia.  That's a lot of cool flags to pick from.

So in essence we get to raid our own ports with Alts, and we have to turn up every weekend to defend against an AI fleet which after the first Port Battle will probably attack in the same way it did last time apart from MAYBE a different set-up of fleet composition. Not only forcing more PVE on players sick of PVE but robbing those players of probably the only time they might get to do the only thing they log on for PvP.

Im really trying to get my head round the thought process.

Guess, you're not talking about Britain and Pirates the other two big nations besides Russia. Even the Netherlands are not such a threat for anybody than Russia is. And in Russia we are not talking about BF or NN, the owners of the other developed 55point ports. We are talking only about Vera Cruz and REDS.

I don't understand what you are talking about. Whats up with Vera Cruz? Why did you decide that its all about you and your clan?
NPC aggression was promised long ago and will happen. I got sick and tired of this wax museum of bending NPCs with hostility switched off by requests of players who do not play.
NPCs will attack ports and unlike players will attach richest biggest ports.
NPCs will relentlessly pursue and **** everyone up near capital waters and on dangerous routes (especially in deep waters)
Getting to KPR if you are not a BRIT will be similar to getting to Stormwind as a horde.

Tac…Tac.. Tac...
You know you are contradicting yourself and are just posting this to rage or whatever.
Sick of PVE  AND Log In to PVP? These two now go together? Dont make me laugh.
You can't login to pvp AND get sick of PVE at the same time during this session. Especially if it is just one pve battle. And its not every weekend.
Same port cannot be attacked every weekend its impossible. But richest ports will be checked by Neutrals from time to time. Just in case. What if they are lucky and you are complacent.

@Sir Texas Sir is correct in his post - map shake up will be supported by one of the first 4 nations existed since 2015. Neutrals. They never run, they dont complain, they do not abuse you in chat, they cannot be negotiated with. We can rely on them. You can too.
Set the night timer for the very rich port as a strong nation? Expect guests during the timer or do not set the timer when you have no people online. Or recruit clans from other timezones.

This ship sails - there is no hesitation.
If you login to pvp go pvp.. If want to own the ports - Defend them.

Yep think this would be a good thing for any important ports that try to dodge timers.  Just wish it raided other ports too.  If you where to reduce the sub ports maintenance for timers I bet we see a lot more ports suddenly get timers.

people need to stop judging features before they are even implemented. Yes it may be mostly a PVE feature, but it will create pvp with it, And as it has been proven many times in the past, Creating a solely pvp event to try and force people into pvp doesnt work, and has repeatedly failed. Look for instance at most patrol zones, you can go into that and find a fleet of 10 russians clubbing anyone they come across, so a lot of players dont even use the zone anymore. You all complain of lack of new content, but when new content gets added and you all bitch and moan about it without even giving it a chance..

What @admin said is correct, if you want to go pvp, then go pvp.  If you want to own a port to build your pvp ships out of, then defend the port or befriend a clan that can defend the port. Cant be expected to hold a valuable port and have no consequences.

It could opens the way to speed up conquest or allow recapture of hostile or bad timer ports (but only for top 3 nations during initial stages of testing this feature).
Raise the tax or investment or a combination of both to a certain level.
It will get on the list of target ports for the Neutrals commander.
They will try to raid it and if they win the port will turn neutral for recapture.

Maybe later mission can be introduced where you can just pay for such diversionary attacks.
