NPC Port Battles Explained. War server and Peace server information

Recommended Posts

PVP raids with high profit if raiding is successful, and low destruction in port for preventing clans to make the effort or repair that port wasting time again and again in that, i think that will be a interesting and a funny mechanics, but PVE raids is a joke, imho.

Don't be too hasty to dump this offering. PVE crafting clans holding ports behind Frontlines and building high value port bonus first rates may get a bit of a shock. On the down side  stripping some players of assets and ports is unlikely to boost player numbers is it?

God help the first Nation to loose a port to this mechanic. I can see the meme's now.

if the boredom of a PVE port battle that may destroy their will to live is going to happen we need to know when to take our medication

or you could just avoid the things which force you to take it!

Port Battle against NPC thanks all you who play on Peace Server to bring this bullshit feature to War Scerver.

What players of PvE server have to do  with decisions of devs to bring new content to your server?

And the changes for us are good ones.

Control your aggressions better, mate.

the most hilarious thing to come from this is the thought that all nations will now try their hardest to "not" be the 3 top nations that the NPCs target :P.

And i thought raids would be that a group of players got some random raid assigned to attack/raid a port without capturing it..i guess i was wrong..

This is not a raid, this is cheating AI capping ports aka a pve portbattle..

@admin what will happen with te pb when a port gets capped? Will they be back if we take it back?

I swear if my crafting port gets taken by cheating AI, im not gonna retake and rebuild it im just gonna quit the game.

As will a lot of players, takes ages to fully up crafting ports, if people lose it most wont wanna invest all that time and effort again, they will just quit, and so will i

My guess is that once the port is captured it loses one level of each improvement, this will drop that port from the highest developed port position until it is recaptured and built back up again. While this idea sounds interesting, fielding 2 large groups of first rates to do it might be a bit much for some to be able to defend against, this is compounded by inviting hostile nations to participate by preventing the defenders from being able to engage the raiders. GB for instance is already losing ground due to the constant daily raids and now we have to worry that a fleet of 20 1st rates are going to sail in and take the port making it open for anyone to capture it during the night. I don't think this new feature was fully thought out on just how it will impact some nations.

This is no content in PvP server. Content in PvP server is a new PvP mechanic, not more PvE headaches. Im in PvP server for making PvP, not for waste my time in VC waiting for NPCs.

He said line ships, not 1st rates.  I suspect it will be a mix of 1st - 3rd rates.

Making the pvp server on pve server, i think is not a good idea. Make a mechanic that allows players make raiders is a interesting idea, but NPCs? I think that this will not work and will be so bored.

there is no pvp on the pve server. all raids, defenses and recaptures and hostility on the Peace server will be pve vs neutral nation

Smaller nations can attack other ports during the raid times and take them undefended

No. Just we can do hostilitiy missions at same time ... Because we need two mechanisms to take a port (hostility and port battle)

No, on both. You just have  to leave your "immersive ganking" bubble  for a moment. PvE content has been on your server for years. Is it really possible you missed this fact for so long?

In PvP server we have not mandatory PvE content. I dont make PvE if i dont like me, i can choose. But this new mechanic is mandatory PvE mechanic in a PvP server. Totally wrong in my opinion.

Captains

NPC have gathered all pain they experienced since launch and decided to fight back.
Here is some information on the NPC port battle raids that will help you prepare so you dont lose ports on first events.

War Server

Preparation

  1. Raiders will only attack on weekends
  2. Raiders will only attack most developed ports of top 3 nations (mix of investments and tax rate)
  3. Raiders will ignore all other nations
  4. Raiders will only attack within the timer (if no timer is present they will attack at random time)
  5. Raider attacks for today will be indicated on map tool in port battle list
  6. Raiders will always pick the proper wind for attack
  7. Raiders know how to fit the ships and will be very combat worthy
  8. If raiders win the battle port becomes neutral.

Battle

  1. Raider fleet usually will consist of 16-20 Lineships(escort) and 4-6 indiaman (transports) and will split into 2 groups attacking from 2 directions
  2. To win the battle raiders will need to gain 1000 points
  3. Raiders get the points by controlling the control points AND by reaching the control points
  4. Transports get A LOT of points for reaching the circle - currently 250-300
  5. Escort get some points for reaching the circle - currently 25-50
  6. All Raiders also get standard points for staying in the circle
  7. Raiders will not fire at forts
  8. Points cannot go down but you can slow down the point generation or avoid it by stopping the ships trying to reach the control points
  9. Optimal strategy in internal testing was found to be the following
    1. Destroy Indiamans as soon as possible and slow down the escorts later destroying them with focus fire one by one
    2. Create two groups (and maybe one in reserve) as if one raider group reaches the control zone intact they will win the raid
    3. Main Groups should prefer to join the raid far at sea (far from pier) because if groups join from pier they sometimes will NOT have enough time to stop the raiders from reaching the control points
      1. having said that joining from pier is also possible but not in all scenarios (depend on port)
    4. Reserve group can join from pier and provide support at danger points.
    5. Joining far at sea has risks of its own because of potential enemy screens

Defending the raids could become an interesting logistical and organizational task if enemy is present (meta)

Meta gameplay

  1. Smaller nations (especially acting together) can completely stop defenders from joining the raid by screening forcing them to lose invested ports (david vs goliaf scenarios)
  2. Smaller nations can attack other ports during the raid times and take them undefended

For Peace Server

  1. Raiders will attack random ports turning them neutral
  2. Hostility will be enabled for neutral ports so clans can capture the ports for themselves
  3. Raiders will also attack developed ports from time to time
  4. This will achieve the following amazing outcome for the Peace server
    1. Both PVE port defense and attacks become possible
    2. Port investments become possible (including port bonuses)
    3. Port clan control and taxation becomes possible

Really bad idea... I must say is a big shit.

We have real life at weekends....

I’m glad SOMEBODY finally figured out what this mechanic was all about....

Correct me if I’m wrong, but don’t most games, especially MMOs, have decay mechanics?

Hell, even in DayZ, your loot decays steadily and anything you bury is deleted if you don’t use it after like 3 weeks.

This feature wouldn’t even be a big deal if it were part of a previous patch and we weren’t waiting for PVP raids.
