Development Priority of Naval Action.

Recommended Posts

From what I have seen, Game-Labs has a pretty full plate. Developing three games concurrently must have a toll on the overall development team working at the studio and what worries me the most is how development is divided/distributed between games. These are the current games under development:

Understandably, the development team is very ambitious and whilst I applaud their efforts and await the results (Of Age of Sail) it worries me knowing how Naval Action was released in a rather ''unpolished'' state. Forgive me for assuming, but I would not not want to see Game-Labs put Naval Action on the low-end of development prioritisation and would much rather see it be at the top.

This is by no means an attack of any kind, I understand how consuming game development is (to an extent) and the developers are free to pursue whatever course they feel necessary. However, at the end of the day much of what has been promised for Naval Action has yet to be delivered. And, what I fear as a result is alienating an even greater portion of the player-base. I am a fan of Naval Action and love it greatly, its a game that has great potential.

I am aware as to what the developers plan for Naval Action, I keep track of the roadmap as often as I can.

It would be a shame to see the population and potential dwindle further.

Thank you for your time. I hope the developers respond with news that would otherwise put this thread to shame.

I would not use "promised". Because they over delivered already to be fair

However why not just look at this?

Its confirmation from the developers that I want to hear the most, if they are able to deliver good content for Naval Action then I have little need to worry. The ''Development Plans'' are what I have been keeping in mind, however. It's still better for the developers to be transparent with the community and respond to general concern.

That's your oppinion, tbh they give us the plans already and according to the last plans they deliver them aswell so why you wanna hear a marketing bullshit like

"We value your oppinion and your concern a lot. Naval Action is a important game for us and you can follow our plans in the development plans post"

''Marketing bullshit'' - Hmm, not really. From the responses the Admins/Developers on the forums give they aren't the equivalent of a premade post ready to be copy & pasted from a word document (At least from what I have witnessed mostly). Not to mention I want an actual response regarding the development plans and how they intend on proceeding with Naval Action.

Game is released, just play and enjoy. What need do you have to know what's coming? is it going to change how u enjoy the game or how much you play?

Can't you simply enjoy what you have and be nicely surprised in when an update comes around?

You guys are always complaining, it is tiresome.

Devs:  Here's the roadmap for the second half of 2019...  It shows what we're working on and ROUGHLY when you can expect it....

Certain NA Players:  This is nuts!!  Why dont the devs ever let us know what is happening?!?!?  Game is dead!!!   Worst devs EVER!!!!

Devs:  But....  But....   We've posted the roadmap to the forum so that everyone can see what our plans are....

Certain NA Players:  BUT THATS NOT WHAT I WANTED!!!!!!  GO MAKE YOUR INDIAN GAME!!!  GAME IS DEADDDDDDD!!!!!!!

Ah, yes. Of course you'd respond in such a manner. People have their own opinion regarding how the developers are treating the game, not to mention how the developers in-general respond to the community. Some believe they are transparent, others believe they are harder to see through than a brick-wall. However, at the end of the day whilst I am pleased enough to play the game for a ''questionable'' amount of hours.

You must realise that in my opinion the lack of clarity in the road-map and updates stated in certain areas of the forum justifies my right to at least ask for some form of clarification. You can make jokes all you want, I'm not here to bash people for merely wanting to see a change in transparency. It does not make you funny.

''Certain NA Players:  BUT THATS NOT WHAT I WANTED!!!!!!  GO MAKE YOUR INDIAN GAME!!!  GAME IS DEADDDDDDD!!!!!!!'' - I don't even get what this is in reference to, I look forward to the other game(s) they are making. Not to mention I believe NA's population has increased since release...

think the point is that the devs dont do anything about their game which is in decline on the playerbase because they dont do the best decisions and prioritize 3 new games instead of making their main game with insane potential better.

Others try to make the best out of the game and accept it for what it is, while other guys see the potential and can predict the fate of the game in a few months based on the devs decisions. E.g BR change, no economy, simplified crafting etc.

This is a good example. I'm glad you've seen the light. I do not mind them focusing on other games, but I felt as if Naval Action being the most popular of them all deserved most development priority in comparison to the rest. Especially since it's the best game of its genre/field.

Who's decided that NA is their "main game"?...

But regardless, you guys can keep up with your "insane potential" wishes...  The game is what it is.  You can either choose to play it or not.

What the game could've been and what the game released as is two different subjects.

Curtail any and all expectations and you will not be disappointed when lied to, or promises broken. I for one will not purchase another game from GameLabs or any of its contractors as things stand.

And you are certainly not getting tired of telling us :-)

It's sad that "certain NA players" are satisfied with what they got, this game could have much more potential. Well, maybe we must wait for a NA2 to see that happen.

I still say like many others that the game still has potential. I don't know, hopefully the updates in the ''road-map'' pull through. I'd like to see more regarding ''NPC Aggression'' and the new ranking system for veterans.

Personally I can't wait to see the raids implemented.

For the players count in my time zone I can say I have witnessed a decline since last week. Until then we had about 500 players in my prime time of playing (Eastern US) now we reach very often 360.

The lack of enemies makes it harder for people to stay.

Maybe we should organize pvp nights for the US players :)

Ultimate General is pretty popular as well so not sure about that.

Besides that would you keep investing in a game which you are working on 3+ years already and which is released (so like 99% of sales are done)? When would you stop investing? Its business after all.

FFS all the bitchers about "what this game culd have been" need to shut their shitholes and make their own hello kittying game already. I'm so goddamn sick and tired of all the "potentialists". Do you spam the hello kitty out of all the other game forums with your potential bs? I mean ffs, just hello kittying leave already and design your own shitty game that will fall short of some other potentialists expectations.

If you walk yourself over to the Paradox forums you';ll see constantly people lamenting how the games are dead upon arrival.

Don't take too much stock in what is said :P.

But lets not be blind to the fact that a population decline has happened...I believe there are still enough folks out there wanting to "do things" that it really doesn't seem like a noticeable difference in terms of pvp activities.

1k EU pop is now consistently 800-900

the 500  US pop (EST) is now usually 400-450.

How can you not be satisfied? We're post release, at the point where the economy has settled, playerbase has held steady at almost double what it was, and we have a huge roadmap outlined for the end of the year, 10+ large content patches coming starting any week now. NA is in a great state

what economy? do you mean the 25 fleet of first rates which makes 3rd rates obsolete in RvR and only usable in OW, or do you mean the cargo missions thats so much more worth doing other then trading parisian furniture?

I am incredibly familiar with Paradox Products, having totalled over 2,300 hours in total (I'm also including Crusader Kings 2) - And can say products upon release are not finished. They rely heavily on DLC to keep the playerbase alive by implementing features which (should) supposedly be part of the game at release. Their PR is terrible.

That is slightly off-topic. I love PVP in Naval Action, unfortunately the circumstances I find myself in when I am participating in anything PVP related find me fighting almost alone. Regardless, I am persistent and refuse to give up.
