Pirate RoE: According To Tribunals

Recommended Posts

Consider recent Tribunals, apparently the Pirate Rules of Engagement have finally been defined.

  • Pirates can join both sides of a battle. - obvious mechanic
  • Pirate's own clan mates can choose both sides of a battle. - again obvious mechanic
  • This mechanic does allow for the raising of BR to allow for more Pirates to join the opposing side of the battle. - seen in multiple Tribunals as a legal mechanic
  •  Pirates joining the side of the battle they wanted to raise BR on can leave the battle without firing on opposing Pirate side. - seen in multiple Tribunals as not punishable

However,

  • No one on any side is allowed to fire on anyone from their same side: No Green on Green firing. - as seen by Ink's Response Here
  • If anyone is seen firing on teammates from their side then they are considered a target by that side and can be destroyed by the side they joined.

TLDR: The Pirate RoE is defined as being allowed to join the enemy's side of the battle to raise BR, but cannot fire on the side they join, AND can escape as soon as possible without any Tribunal worthy punishment.

Devs and mods can correct this if it is incorrect, but recent Tribunals over the last few months seem to correspond to my statements.

How I believe Pirate RoE should work:

  • Open World Battles
    • Only Pirates can join both sides of a battle.
    • Pirate clanmates MUST join same side.
    • Pirates can be targeted by the enemy side AND by any nation joining on the Pirate side. - All verse Pirates on any side
  • Pirate vs Pirate Battles
    • Pirates should be able to tag and attack other Pirates not in their clan.
    • Pirate clanmates MUST join same side.
    • All nations can join the Pirate vs Pirate Battle
    • Anyone from one Nation must join the same side as others from that Nation
  • Pirate Port Battles
    • Pirate Clans should be able to attack other Pirate Clan Ports.

Dumbass. The pirates can always have better ships if they game it right.

Join a first rate on the enemy side to open the BR for their side. Join a first rate there. Rinse and repeat till the pirate side has 10000 Br and the enemy side has 500 BR cause the first rates left as soon as they 'fixed' the BR

Pirates should be Pirates not nation Black. If you want to gank, sail SOL and RVR join a nation. Simple.

It would be a good to see some dev proposals on this and run a poll as they did for Alliances.

There are a host of changes that could be made but it's pointless to post a more detailed list as they will just be ignored anyway and not considered.

we already know most of the players that play pirates wouldnt vote on changing working mechanics, only ones who would vote on that idea are those that are annoyed with pirates

They would be even more annoyed if we had some proper mechanics. NA has more than enough nations, one that is different would be good for the game.

the pirate mechanics have been around for over 2 years at this point changing them to suit other nations agenda's would not be better for the pirate nation. if were going with a tribunal, about joining both sides would not using an alt account achieve the exact same things, example brit and dutch in battle say brit LGV tagged by dutch trinc, well dutch uses sweed nearby connie to join brit side to open up dutch side to add more ships then sweed leaves battle on brit side. is that not the same mechanic ur complaining about the difference is the pirates have always been able to join both sides of a battle and other nations have adopted using alt accounts in other nations to do that same.

Wow ur really dense arent you? Its obvious the mechanics for pirates dont work and are open to alot of abuse as you can see in the tribunal section.

only reason people complain about it to tribunal is because pirate nation have an exclusive mechanic that fits being a pirate. we dont play fair hence why this mechanic exists.

and another point if u had an issue with pirate mechanics should have brought it up during the early access rather then after release if the devs dont feel these mechanics need to change then its rather moot to try and get them to change it.  as admins have said pirate mechanics are working as intended in tribunals over this very topic

What I'd suggest is: Remove the pirate nation, make pirates be pirates.

In a perfect world (for me), Pirates would not be a nation.  They would be restricted to 4th rate and below.  They would be able to attack anyone not in their clan.  They would be able to build a shipyard (lvl 2 max) and purchase buildings in any enemy port as if they were on the friendly clan list.  This would be accomplished, because they would be flying any nation's flag that they choose.  They would not be able to attack enemies under a national flag and would have a 5 minute timer for switching to their (proper) pirate flag.  In effect, this would mean they could do eco under a national flag, but must make a conscious switch and suffer a timer if they want to get "Piratey"

what? so if i get tagged say in a gold santissima with full mods 1v3 also 3 gold santissimas pirates, 2 friends of those 3 pirates join my side in 2 santissimas so the BR is even 2700vs2700, the 2 pirates that entered my side now leaves without fighting I am supposed to bring a better ship?

Are you high or something?

Wtf are you on? it was stated over 10 times how the pirates have flaws in their mechanics with several tribunals people joining without fighting, without the devs giving a flying crap about it. No offence, but are you serious about this?

If the devs had some kind of logic sense in what they were doing when they wanted to fix the RoE they would screw the 2 sides join, have it as free for all inside the battle where the flags and nation would tell the teams.

It really doesent need to be more complicated then this.

maybe all nationals should agree to kill pirates on sight ;).

but in all seriousness, the pirate RoE mechanic allowing them to join all sides without limitations causes a lot of problems and can clearly be used in abusive situations. A change is sorely needed. Pirates and even some nation players did the same thing with outlaw battles and abused that system as well.

The easiest change would be to block pirates from joining both sides, and have the same restrictions as a player in a nation. We can work out what pirates should actually be in the game now and hopefully convince the devs to do the same "soon."

Idiots trying to have the only redeeming pirate feature removed. Once it is removed restrict pirates from sailing more than 6th rates and remove all their ports with the exception of mortimer.

they tried that already with limiting what pirates could make however they cant limit what pirates could sail. or capture. alts come into play here when acquiring what they cant make under pirates by using alts in other nations to build 1st rates
