Seal clubbing outside KPR or Typical day as a Brit

make requin unable to sail deep water. Seal clubing drops by 90%.

problem solved.

Or just tell players to go downwind. If Requin is the ship responsible for 90% of seal clubbing then players need to take 5 minutes and studie the sailing profile of the ship of doom.

https://sites.google.com/view/speedtrials,

at 180 degrees from the wind (straight into the wind) the only ships slower then a Requin are Yacht and Trader's cutter.

Requin can take down trade ships and maybe pandora (even skill I doubt it). Even a herc will destroy a Requin. And certainly no deep-water ship has anything to fear from a Requin.

this will change soon(tm)  we will post roadmap within a week. On the roadmap there will be limited NPC agression both on PVP and PVE server which will help with the seal clubbing a lot.

I was just at KPR and saw a dutch Rattvisan jump a British l'Hermione. I jumped in on the Brit side and sunk the Ratt. KPR isn't just somewhere to go to hunt helpless British, it's also somewhere to h

Games amazing:

Want to get a port battle? - Grind AI

Want some levels? - Grind AI

Want some books/mods? - Grind AI

Want some money? - and this is the best part by far - Watch your pixel ship sail for 30 mins from A to B

(Soon) Want to PVP? - Grind AI because players are gonna be hiding behind them

Meanwhile patrol zone still has shitty RoE and seals cry 'If ya want PVP go to Patrol Zone'

Everything I enjoy is being taken away and replaced with 'Grind AI' and 'Watch your ship sail'.

All I can do so far is to chase unarmed Russian traders in the gulf or try to catch some lone wanderer around PB (or get zerged)

Considering that grinding AI constitutes the majority of content atm, PvP hunting is still a bit of a stretch with long hours wasted for nothing, then what you're really suggesting is: stop playing the game..

That's just not true.  I kill players every day.  Some of that is clubbing seals to be sure, but you have to travel to dangerous places even for that and the risk and resulting battles can be fun.  Loading up some cargo mission and ESCORTING them can be very exciting as the wolves are out for blood.  Don't stop playing the game....find a way to make the game great again (for you).

This will have negative effect muchly outweighing anything positive about it.

You cant hold players hands forever. Who said that newbs needs to be safe?? Where people got this idea from? There is peace server already if they want to learn the ropes peacefully. How are they going to learn the game otherwise? Its Ok to sink in pvp game. This teaches people. Danger makes people to communicate. Take action. Get involved. Interact with other players. Danger is what making the game fun, enjoyable, engaging.

You can bring more mechanics to save traders or newbs and we will think on more ways to hunt them. Because you are gods, eventually you will succeed denying us any possibility to hunt them (yes just like before) and we will leave again (yes just like before). And with us leaving, newbs will get bored and game will die... rather fast. Again. I honestly don't want that. My old clan members start coming back to give it another go. We have 40+ in 4 days.

Newbs MUST sink. Traders MUST sink. PVPers MUST sink. Everyone MUST sink for this game to work. And NOT from AI. From PVP.
Bring on ganks, duels in OW capitals, balance hostility jumping issues (same BR balancing rules dont work for hostility?), bring on Flags as raid mechanic
Let players find ways to survive, make friends etc.
Yes some will leave because they dont like it being sunk. But those 5 snowflakes who left will be replaced by 50 new players who are green newbs and who were attracted by the dangers of the Caribbean waters. They will stay and create wonderful player base.

I want to see Naval Action doing 20 fully maxed PVP servers. Isn't THAT should be the goal of the development? You have got a wonderful game. All it needs is the right mentality and few tweaks.

As AI following me everywhere tagging me it will annoy the crap out of me. What, am I not gonna be able to sail across them map AFK anymore?
The ONLY way to bring AI attacking players mechanic is through temporary Criminal tag. But thats opening another can of worms that you probably dont want to touch

Also on another topic you have mention the strength of AI you said they are like that to make them challenging. Ok, but right now Im more afraid of AI than players lol.
If you want them to be challenging, why not double their HP, but reduce their pen and gun accuracy, crazy angles and damage dealing. So they dont penetrate LO/WO like its a fir/fir ship. It will take longer to kill them (means you still have to grind for your XP), but not as dangerous as it is now.

P.S. I still have positive steam review on this game because I really want it to succeed... Please! You have all the tools. Just do it.
I offered back in the day to make Global server as PVP Hardcore test server. I mean hardcore. It is pitty we didnt have opportunity to try it. Server went down anyway, but it could make a very valuable point

I do agree with you that agressive AI is a Terrible idea and forcing ppl to be always watching at the screen , running away from some random ai all the time not what i'm looking for when i go out for PvP nor do i want to be fihting the AI. I also want this game to have 5k+ players and succeed but i think your logic here is flawed

I don't know if you have the ability to look in Brit nation chat . There may not be a "noob" problem in your nation but in order to know what's happening with the new players you  need to constantly watch brit nation chat as the vast majority of new players pick GB

Well there is a repeating theme going on since long time but especially since release . A lot of new players are complaining and quitting the game because of the current situation . Everyone must sink i agree but not in the manner it's happening . Now the new players don't have any possibility to avoid it no chance of fighting back and it does not help them in any way . You may think it's ok but most people die in 3 minutes . I tried joining a few battles and usually by the time i join , set sails and get some speed it's all over for the poor guy and the enemy is running away.
Being repeatedly sunk in 3-5 minutes is not going to teach those players how to play. In order to learn something you must fight someone SLIGHTLY better than you not someone who kills you so fast that you don't even know what went wrong.
Most players will spend all their money to buy some crappy cag/crew space 6th rate or 5th rate of some sort as soon as they can afford it ,money that took a lot of effort and time for them to earn (coz they don't know the "easy" ways yet). And just as they're about to enjoy the fruit of their labor someone comes and smashes it all to bits without them being able to do a damn thing about it. This is enought to make most ppl quit or atleast stop playing for a few days. Some will try again and have the same thing happen so same result , they quit . And only a FRACTION of the players will actually do research and familiarize themselves with the game before playing it . Unfortunately those players are rare and not enough to keep it going . We need the noobs . And this is something you all don't seem to understand . If you think about what you're doing you'll realize that you're fishing them to extinction .

You rely on killing clueless people who most of the time don't even know how to get out of irons . Seriously what is the satisfaction in that? Killing someone who can't fight back what's the fun in that? Do you have a need to feel superior? I was hunting the french a while back and i have to say for me after the first couple kills it felt pretty wrong when i attack someone and see that he can't really play the game , there were people that i gave back the ship to and even gave advice and money if they were nice .
For me it was much more entertaining when it was a close battle with a challenge like if we were outnumbered or i was close to dying yet managed to survive

The smart thing to do is to NOT kill the noobs  Just like fish in a tank you should instead let them breed and multiply so there is progressievely more of them . Let the server population grow and then you'll have people to kill everywhere , They would have learned the game by then and atleast present some challenge .

Killing noobs all the time will only make 99% of them quit and whoever thinks that this remaining 1% is enough , is stupid

If this sitation continues we will always have the same stable 1000 players we've had for the past 2 years + their alts and there will be not much pvp coz those players know how to stay safe .

That's why we need the old green zone . In the past the main issue with it was that even old players who didn't wanna be attacked used it but now there is no reason for them to be there since capital ports are totaly useless with the new ship-building RNG and (especially) port bonuses

So i would say bring back the green zone and make it so that you can't attack anyone in it nor join battles on the AI . Make all the missions spawn inside it and limit it to 5th rate missions max so only noobs have interest in it . For everyone else it would be a total waste of time and no point even being in the zone but if you're still worried about players always staying in the zone then maybe put a limitation that it only protects players up to flag captain (or something), problem solved

Nerf delivery mission so that it's a way to get you out of a rough spot if you're broke but not how it is now OP which makes the current trading totally obsolete . Trading should be VERY profitable so that all those noobs as soon as they level up in peace and get some cash go out and trade,  preferably LONG distance trade so we can kill them

I really think guys aren't even trying to trade.  Every time I have an empty hull I put something in it.  Back in the day you got maybe 100-1K profit from this.  So far I made 50% off anything I bought and brought back to a capital region.  This is side money cause I do make more on a normal run with dilivery but that is cause I stack them into two indmans.  Now lets say I do this with trade goods.  I put the same goods in the trade ships only, I still can make 40-50K a run from a port or two away if I feel like it.  Way more than than that if I take it far away.  Trade goods aren't worthless, folks just expect bigger profits.  This example was me just moving cocounts, maize and beans from one port to another that is only a port or two away.  It's not the large profits items and it wasn't me taking them a long distance either but I was still making profits off them.  Just old school rule of thumb, never go with an empty load.

I'm a big fan of simply tripling the size of the Capitol zone.  They already spawn foreign AI for noobs to kill and if you want more you have to leave.

Yeah only problem with that i think is that it lets you attack enemy players in it which none other enemies can join if that feature would be removed then all good

The British nation is weak. Imo this is not good for the game. The biggest influx of new players is in the British nation or Pirate, both of this nations are weak and under pressure.

This is why GB is weak even though they have one of the largest number of players. Many new players join GB and while they are learning the game get farmed by more experienced players around KPR. The smart ones move away from there and many of the better ones eventually move to other nations and when they need combat medals they know where to return to to farm them. GB is actually one of the harder nations to play because everyone believes they should be a strong nation due to the number of players but really they are a nation of mainly sheep there for other nations to farm.

The game has to many nations, if the devs would make sense it would be brits v spanish v french v dutch, and pirates would be total outlaw able to go full Free for all, like probably 80 % of the rest of player base thinks as well is my bet

It is incredibly irritating hearing people mention GB as the ''Strongest'' nation yet fail to realise how plagued the faction is with inexperienced players without coordination/teamwork experience. The total amount of players on a faction means very little, especially when the majority of those players don't actively participate in helping the faction but rather remain on their own. Which as a whole weakens the entire faction because they lack the means to do anything effective on their own.
