Rattlessssssnake. Need more smaller ships and more ships for traders (my 2nd vote would have gone for the "Amsterdam").

Not a big fan of the behemoths, I like my ships versatile and this little ship would suit me well in Open World.

Hard to choose but like some others it will be the Rattelsnake for now, a big merchant ship armed is really tempting with today's announcement about the incoming features but i don't like much the look of the Amsterdam to be honest, so it will be the Rattlesnake that fits my style more.

I urge everyone to vote for either Hermione or Bonhomme Richard.

In the first place, modeling currently extant vessels such as Hermione makes it easier for the devs to accurately portray the ship in question. If anything is wrong, it is easy for the community to post high-res pictures and correct them.

In the second place, the game badly needs ships that are capable of portraying both naval and merchant vessels. Bonhomme Richard was built as an indiaman, and fits this bill perfectly.

Bonhomme Richard is tempting indeed, a versatile ship, but I'm a bit afraid of having a ship average in both merchant and fighting domains.

I'm not a specialist at all but last time i checked some of the ships to see what they looked like for the first vote i read those ships were considered as slow if i recall correctly, at least the first ones having nice poop decks like this one seems to have, not sure if I'm wrong or not, i am by no means a specialist so feel free to correct me.

I rather trade space and armament for merchandises and cannons if i got the speed and maneuverability for me with the incoming open world, and with this one I'm not too confident in those possibilities, i might be wrong and would think twice about my vote if i am shown it's no something to worry about for this ship, but that's one of the reasons i choose the rattlesnake for now.

I like the Indiaman concept. You only have to spend money to maintain one ship, one crew, and one set of supplies as well as buying one set of guns and only manage one ship in comparison to one merchant and one frigate. I'm betting on them making good clan flagships at least for the smaller clans, the Amsterdamn would make a good light indiaman and Bonhomme being the heavy version. The crew size seems pretty massive too which would be good for boarding parties. I'm very excited to use them in the open world.

Amsterdam: East Indiaman or VOC retour ship; Length: 48 m; 1,110 displacement tons; Comp.: 215, Armament: 8x12pdr, 16x8pdr, 8x4pdr, 10 swivel guns; Amsterdam, Netherlands; 1748

Bonhomme Richard: USS Bonhomme Richard; East Indiaman; Length: 152 ft; Beam: 40 ft; Draft: 19 ft; 998 tons; Comp. 380; Armament: 6x18pdr, 28x12pdr, 8x9pdr; France; 1775

Why vote for the Independence?  She wasn't a Razee until after the time period of this game, and during this time period she wasn't used in battle at all...the Christian VII or another 2nd rate would be much better.

Vote had to go to Rattlesnake for the sake of being a corvette and a ship smaller than a line ship.

Prater I completely missed your post haha...double tap ;)

Having her ingame either in the 90 gun SoL or 54 gun Razee version is pointless IMHO considering first her poor carrier and flawed design as a SoL and secondly the time at which she was razeed is too far forward for the timeframe of this game.

In short the USS Independence simply ought not be ingame. There are plenty of other US ships, such as the Rattlesnake, that a vote would be much better cast upon :)

Your image of Indefatigable is quite an abomination, not sure what the people who created the model were drinking?  Would be good to have a better image. She was a beautiful ship!

Thanks, I've been looking for better pictures for hours. Do you have an image with more rigging visible ?

If anyone got a better model of Amazon-class and Agamemnon, or better descriptions of Wasa and Christian VII btw...

Hey Barberouge, she's not finished quite yet.  This one shows the overall size, no yards yet. Added also a side view.

Word of warning about the Amsterdam though,

my dad used to work at the Scheepvaart Museum, where her 'replica' can be seen.

However, everyone working there just called her the 'Pancakeboat' because she's very inaccurately build.

I believe all the decks have been raised for tourists to easily and comfortably walk around in her. In my opinion this really shows. She looks way too high. If you think about how free they were with her dimensions, everything else should perhaps also be taken with a grain of salt.

The original Amsterdam won't do you much good either, seeing as there is so little left:

'replica': so true...!

Anyhow, might your dad be able to pull real plans of the ship? Seeing that he worked there and that the ship has a fair chance of making it into the game...

Ughh!!  So many good ships to choose from, and only one choice...

I thought that the PayPal dilemma was bad enough!

And waiting on Bis18marck70's competition to see if I won...  (which is preventing me from buying the game right now)

Okay... I've narrowed it down to two.

Heads or Tails?

That's why I kind of think it's funny when people reference replica's as to what the original must have looked like, most sailing or static full size replica's are quite different from the original for a variety of reasons:

1. Accessibility regulations, most people are over 4 ft 8

2. Provisions for an engine, a must-have to get the tourists back by 4PM

3. Weight distribution

4. Modern amenities

5. Safety

6. Materials

7. Money  To do things right costs money, lots of it. Most replica projects fail or get compromised simply because the lack of it.

The Amsterdam was indeed built solely for tourists, not to create a faithful replica of a Dutch East-Indiaman.
