Patch 32: Elite NPC Admirals, New Ranks and other changes

In case you are talking about the new elite NPC, they are clearly veteran player's 'endgame content'. You as a beginner (if you are such, or even medium advanced) should keep your hands off them and feast on regular NPC alone. Good advice.

And a friend and I just killed a Elite NPC Bellona yesterday, no big difference between regular and Elite, only 3400 doublons. I think that you don't know what you're talking about went you say ''they are clearly veteran player's 'endgame content'", that is just guess. I KNOW WHAT I AM TAKING ABOUT. Thanks for condescension.

No. On Monday we found an Elite 3rd Rate that only dropped 1400 dubs and a module (I forget which one, nothing special though).

Elite Surprise dropped either Iron Knees or Diagonal Riders (I don’t remember which: it was a useless one) and 700ish doubloons.

There’s two ways to approach this.

Either there should be a bunch of Elites (like IMO there are now) and it stays with smaller chances of a really valuable drop.

Or

Fewer Elites on the water and chances go way up.

There are so many rumors flying around that the people need to know.

1) yes. port points will encourage specialization (2-3 bonuses max)
2) With map wipe or pre-release wipe - everyone knows they are OP but we need to wipe progress when there is a real need only
3) no.. if ports are wiped they will be wiped completely (with other resets to do final tests before the release)
4) yes - port bonuses and upgrade bonuses will be lower
5) current ship bonuses will remain (unless all ships are removed) but their stats will be lower.. so bonus Gunnery 4 will remain Gunnery 4 (but bonuses will be lower)
6) same answer as above - ships already made will keep the bonuses but the stats will be different
7) soon - patch will happen soon

@AeRoTR Ideas were also considered long time ago, but previously all attempts to change progression behind tasks or certain requirements (for example unlocking the previous ship to move on to the next) were always met with resistance from the community.

thats because you have probably 20% of players that dont want to lift a finger to get to max rank with little to no effort. Im completely sure if you run a poll on it on the login screen you would see that its actually alot more players that would love this suggestion other than avoid it. We need content and sense of achievement in this game or else its just gonna be a flat and shallow game.

Because you locked it to grinding out all ships. If you lock it behind activities you will get a better result because players can still use their favorite ship whatever the activity.

Also you give new players some target to achieve and it is or can be in a way a open world tutorial

Well I am one of those lazy ones. I understand why they delete rank. But if I could redeem my rank, lets say after 2 month, I proberbly would just wait playing until then.

Anyway admin its not always about the end content, one famous quote is by Ralph Waldo Emerson "Its the not the destination, Its the journey" and I believe if you follow that script from you create your character to the end game RvR you would have a much better game where the retention rate is much higher

What was your build and port bonus of your L’Ocean?  

AI should not be scaled to maxed out buffed ships.  They should be scaled to oak/oak builds.  Unless said AI is an Elite than they should be scaled against a stronger elite build ship.  

Im going to bet that wasn’t some average built L’Ocean you where using.

yes. totally agree
but like with teleports once simple easy to use features are seen its impossible to unsee them (teleports were never planned in this game and was a developer feature to help testers find pvp faster during early testing)

Well if you dont like teleport, just remove it. Ppl also survived the lose of Tow. They will also survive the lose of teleport. Do tho think it will give some issues. Maybe limited it to freetowns.

Maybe tp is not needed when server has a larger population, but when we are bellow 1000 player imo it is needed.

a question in general: was there a change in books  (removed or added or renamed or abanded recently) on pve and pvp server?

imo tp isnt the problem, you see other mmo's with options to fast travel with portals or flight paths, so i dont think thats where the issue is.

You must have a very selective memory. When we did not have tow or tp, pvp just ground to a complete halt because nobody who was interested in pvp wanted to spend 90% of their playing time on a shippng company simulator just to get their ships or character into a pvp hub from the other side of the map.

Just no, NO to even more pointless time sinks taking away from the part of the game that's actually good!

But I did not surgest the stop of teleport, I said maybe limited it to freeports. Just something wrong imo, that you can teleport ships to a port you want to defend/ attack in RvR.

It's like we learned nothing from the Austerity patch days. The game shouldn't require 8 hours of active preparation for a 1.5 hour battle. e.g. sailing from FR to Navasse every time a ship needs to be brought up to the front lines. It's not preventing or hindering combat or game-play in its current state, so there is no need to change it. 

Regardless of the Admin teams original vision of not originally including a teleport, I'm sure there are many initial things that we have today as not being a part of the vision. The game has evolved since the initial planning stages.

There is nothing wrong with not wasting your players time doing mundane tasks that eat time like a cancer.
