Slow down points accumulation in PBs

Recommended Posts

Forts now give only 1 point. Something which seems like a bug. They may have given too many points previously, and in some ports worked as an advantage to attackers. So they should maybe be worth less points than before.

PBs are already skewed too much in favour of defenders, and points from towers and forts were one way to give attackers a chance to slow down the accumulation of points for defenders and give them time to engage.

PBs are currently ended too quickly on mere points accumulation alone. Frequently there is not enough time for a serious engagement or any substantial amount of ships to sink.

Therefore I propose to slow down the accumulation of points, especially for defenders. Since all the have to do to win is to prevent  attackers from getting 1000 points.

I think points accumulation for holding circles should be slowed down somewhat, particularly for defenders - maybe more than for attackers - and on the other hand kills should give more points in PBs than they do now. To increase the importance of engaging and sinking the enemy, rather than kiting.

Circles should also be somewhat reduced in size to lessen the chances for small ships to kite on the edges of a circle to prevent points without actually fighting for control of the circle.

Want to see much things changed in this game, but PB wasn't one of it. I can't see too much kiting. Maybe some nations come with heavy ships only into PB and wonder why they are slower than the enemy. And i really dont want back to Mono fleets with brawl only PBs. Let the speed be a factor and give it a tactical depth like it is now. I think the problem is: One side haven't ships to catch up the enemy small ones. With the new damage model it is hard enough to sail a small ships between or close to the line ships. Dont rob them the abality to be part of PBs completely.

port battles are fine .... the advantage should always be with the defender .

the onus should always be on the attacker to sink the defenders,  all you have to do is put a ship in all 3 circles and the points accumalation stops

would you be making the same post if you had won at nassau .. i think not

Some of us actually care about this game and make suggestions based on what we think would advantage the game, not just our own side. This post has absolutely nothing to do with Nassau, and nothing I mentioned here would have affected the outcome at Nassau, in fact we would have lost bigger, and with less ships surviving if any of my suggestions were applied. Please stop making insinuations about other peoples' motives when you have no insight whatsoever

No need to call names - staff.

Like it matters if you win or lose at this stage of TESTING. Conquest will be reset with the wipe. Nothing matters now. Better change things now than after testing.

I love it when ppl that only wants to brawl complain when the opponent uses tactics other than hammering the anvil.. And then say the other side were "kiting"..

But there is a valid point. If is to hard to win a port as attacker, ppl will stop. So we need to make it easier to win.

Control the circle is the highest priority in a port battle.

With that you can certainly always win.

Port battles are fine the way they are now.

Personally I am ok with thing as they are now. But the issue is valid, if you can’t win a Pb as attacker, ppl will stop doing so, with the port patch comming, the problem might be even bigger.

Running *should not be a valid tactic for defending your port.

Ofc it is. It is in the game mechanic.

plenty of port battleshave been won .. make the changes as suggested ..smaller nations have no chance of defending their ports sometimes due to lack of numbers  or ships racking up the points is the only way they can  win sometimes

slowing the points down just means those in biggest ships win

this game has suffered enough from players with most experience , biggest ships and alll the books and mods  encouraging the devs to remove any chance for anyone else to win

Small Nations can’t  defend there port now, so basicly the same. But devs don’t want a balanced game. They want all for the few, so there idea is fine in Line with there ideas for this game.

the motivation idea, that it is  based on is Sound.

Punishment vs rewards. You play the game we want, you get all those nice things, if not Well, then you get notning. So yes attacking should be buffed and defender nerfed.

How about controlling the circles? - It's not like they're large, so basically - take two circles, herd the enemy either out of them or kill them and then you win the PB.. It isn't exactly difficult.
