Question about tagging

Recommended Posts

So, I was in the La Mona PZ this morning and saw to bigger ships. They started to chase me and I saw a friendly 1st rate, so I went in that zone. They tagged me and it was only 2 players. Before I went into battle I looked around and there was no one on the horizon. As soon as the battle started 5 more joined. How was this possible, when no one was around?

That's why its called the gank zone.  They can call up their friends on chat or comms and everyone can pile in.  Very broken ROE IMHO.  Not the case in Solo PZ, and you must be the same rate. I have hidden there in the past with a bunch circling me.

So they can teleport to the tagged area and jump in? You have to understand, there was noone else on the horizon when I was tagged

Or else they were just out of sight and had good wind.  There is a timer at battle start which gives them 30 seconds.  It really doesn't matter.  Multiple ships can join your battle and the standard is to join the overpowering side.  Unless you are in the solo zone, I would advise staying out of PZ if you're alone.

My only explanation is indeed they logged off and at the time you were tagged logged in again. But then it was pure random that they were that close they could join from the very beginning.

TBF the Patrol Zone is made for PvP! i alway go in a throw away Ship into the Patrol Zone and fight until i sink.  its not broken at all. it the hello kittying PATROL(PvP) Zone. Ive you cang fight in there were else shoud you?!?

In Nassau Patrol  we usually go to Nassau knowing the Britts will outnumber us 2:1 in a matter of 10 mins. But thats waht PvP Zone is for right?

I did bring a throw away, Oak/Crew Essex but Im not mad about losing the ship. There is an obvious issue with these individuals and doesnt smell right. Im sure the devs will find the issue and deal with it

I experienced the same yesterday in patrol. I was attacked by one and 3-4 that were not there entered the battle within a short time.

But it was no cheating. They were a part of the same group. But 3-4 had entered another battle that had just ended when i came by. The 3-4 jumped out of their battle just after their friend had  attacked me.

I know that it was like that because my alt followed their chat in their nation chat.

These things happen quite often. Especially when there are lots of players in the patrol zone. I have experienced it several times. And the reason is most often that they are in another battle.

As a matter of fact, i have been in battle too when a friend outside the battle shouts that there are new enemies in the OW. Once i jumped out of a boring battle just to get to the new one.

Yesbut there is a wait timer...they wouldn't have appeared right when the game started. Thats what you guys are not getting

This is what I was wondering about. Does the join timer not work in the PZ?

If they popped out of battle and were in a battle group, they’d get pulled in with the tag, assuming that their cannot attack/be attacked timers were up. At least, that’s how it works with normal OW ROE. I don’t think that ROE is any different for the patrol zone, in that regard.

You said you looked around before the tag. Is it possible that they could have been under invisibility while you were looking around? The timer difference between cannot attack and invisibility isn’t very long, it’s quite easy to drag your whole fleet in this way.

At any rate, patrol zones are for getting ganked. I avoid them at all cost unless I’m with the fleet that’s doing the ganking and can fill the BR limit.

This sounds plausible.
