DLC ships in Portbattles?

73 members have voted

  1. 1. Should DLC ships be allowed to enter Portbattles?

As long as their BR makes them slightly unfavourable choices I am fine with it. Like it is now.

How do you balance, within the game something that you acquire outside of it? (gameplay wise)
A person who gets a free 4th rate every day for RVR is going to have a substantial advantage over someone who has to craft one every day.
If you have to nerf the ships then you've sort of messed up, because your nerfing something people bought.
But if you leave it the way it is, then DLC holders will have a much bigger advantage.
I voted no.

Simply if ship does not outperform crafted then its balanced

No.

or rather, I would agree with @Anolytic that their BR should encourage players not to bring them in if they want the most efficient choices.

They should not. Not in current state of DLC ships as not craftable gifts. If you had to craft them, than sure no problem. But the fact you could just throw them daily, waiting for defences to use up their ships makes them broken as hello kitty.

I've been anti DLC ships in PBs since the very start.  It's maddening that they were allowed....but they needed to sell DLCs I guess.

Allowing DLC ships into PBs would force the devs to balance them and change the stats after the fact.  Which is exactly what happened with the le rekt and the Herc.  Altering DLC ships after you purchase them seems to be a slippery slope IMO.  The le rekt was ruining port battles for the better part of a year.  I'm fine with DLC ships being a little OP on the open water, there needs to be reasons why people should purchase them.  The can be countered by numbers, speed or whatever.  However you cannot do the same within the confines of a PB.

Pay 2 win, which is what these ships are, should not be allowed in this games only form of "end game" content.  End of story.

If DLCs were just re-skins of other ships which are accessible by playing and with the exact same hard stats, then yes. Otherwise no - hercs and requins in PBs back when they were the Kings of shallow should have shown us well enough that pay only content isnt healthy for the competetive aspect of the game.

no part of this discussion but I can't fathom why a DLC ship cannot be crafted!

If I remember correctly, the DLCs were supposed to be for players who didn't have time to craft or play for hours on hand. Instead DLCs became P2W exclusive ships and a non-DLC owner can't even craft them. The disparity is appalling.

the rest of your reasons the devs already shat themselves

Yes , but then what's the point selling them as DLC's ?

Because they'd be unique ships that are not craftable in game....and the biggest thing is...they require no resources and no time but 1 click to make.

I think it's the wrong question.

The problem is not, that DLC ships break PBs. This can easily be fixed with a craftable ship with equal stats or with higher BR. The problem is that crafting equal ships became so unbelievable time consuming and almost impossible without multiple alts.

To compete with those few clans, which managed to get enough access to WO, LO and Teak DLCs are a must have, or players lose because of subprime ships they have to use.

Well since DLC ships are alway 3/5 Upgrades, they are usually weaker then fully upgraded Crafted ships

Edit: Apparantly ive been Wrong.

@Meraun please do not talk without proper knowledge.

DLC ships can be purple or gold ! They are not weaker, you can always redeem them with best wood and everyday. I have purple Le Rekt and purple Herc.

There will be No RVR if there are no servers. This will be very unbalanced.

DLC pay for the servers.
All Massively multiplayer games (that do not have billions of users allowing to rely purely on cosmetics) have gated content behind paywalls. TESO is one example.

There will be DLC ships (promised as early as 2013) and there could be even 3rd rates
(stated here in 2015 https://forum.game-labs.net/topic/4668-open-world-prototype-rules-of-engagement-ship-loss-and-spawning/page/11/?tab=comments#comment-91605

Most DLC ships will also be available for combat medals in the admiralty as teasers or in events like Hercules for exams (this will happen once prices for combat medals stabilize). Remember that there is always a better crafted ship or better player.

We understand the position of people who do not like ships for money, but there is nothing that can be done to find compromise.

As a result there is no point to discuss this over and over again as we are interested in feedback on trading and crafting and combat.
