Make 'Flatts' a freeport

Recommended Posts

Bermuda is too far away, now there is no open world tow. It just gets taken by a nation (prob Russia) and then ends up being almost always unvisited by enemy players (it was today for the first time I can remember in a year, which is what made me think of it). I have NEVER seen enemy AI there, not once since the OW UI patch.

Make one of those ports a freeport (spawning some random nation AI) and perhaps even have a PZ up there? Atm the whole area is a waste of space and once taken it is extremely difficult to attack. Making it a PvE, PvP and RvR free zone. With the trading changes it's distance makes it extremely profitable for afk trading and almost risk free. It's simply out of kilter with the rest of the map.

Making Flatts a Freeport would solve all this.

Well most of the ocean is wasted space to be fair and making that another pvp area would only force people to have more outposts. The best way to get people together is to have a pvp area around as few ports as possible.

That's such a waste though. Remove the outpost limit, add some type of tax bracket for people with more than 10 outpost, more than 20 etc. Please stop pigeonholing our progress, your limits on what players can have is a real damper on conquest. You can't branch out with so few ports.

If someone else had suggested this, few months ago, when you played for russia, then you would probably have refused it.

Hula , i think you should be quiet becouse in Bermudas we see enemy players hunting for russian traders and stuff . Making Flatts a free port will be a bad move becouse we Russians don't have even a single reinforcements zone or capital zone . Yesterday i saw a Pirate Agamemnon (player).

You are also a hardcore nation and don’t get a zone.

I think if players want to go up there and hunt they need to coordinate and go take the ports to island hop their way up.  Rubli and WO did it.  I would agree however that there needs to be a Freetown up on the US coast (maybe Little River) that can provide quicker access to Bermuda in general.

Look in combat news, mate. You will find that Jon Silver was sinking a US-guy and a Swede at Sumerset only in one day. Problem of Bermuda is not, that it is too far away but that Russia defends its waters against enemies which wanna destroy our income source.

Traders from all over the world are welcome and can pass. Hunters are not. Anyway. You're invited to try. But don't complain that you might not have to sail home anymore after.

I call BS on the traders will pass, ,one of the RUS guys sunk my Indie last weekend when I was there to check out some econ, pick up cedar and see if it was a profitable run.   Well the trade goods where mostly on the other two ships, but the cedar wasn't and now that run was useless.  This was after I even let his trade ship go past me and didn't touch a russian AKF 3 ship trader too.   So saying Traders can pass is BS some of you hunt traders too.  Which is BAD FOR YOUR ECON.  I made some one good money in there port buying up goods.  Maybe need to police your own a bit too or folks won't make that run to help your econ.

Yes. As I said, that was what made me think of it, it is the ONLY time I have ever heard of an enemy warship in Bermuda since the removal of OW tow.

I have no ulterior motive, whoever takes it at release, I will have an alt of that nation with a clan warehouse and a shipyard. With Admiralty connection you have every single resource you need in just 3 Ports. I will do all my ship building there, all paid for by the the almost risk free afk trade run from Bermuda to San Juan which is a huge distance (so very profitable with new trading system) yet all in open sea so actually with very little chance of hostiles. I just think something needs to be done so that it is not so outrageously convenient and profitable, even removing some of the resource drops would help a bit. It's much too cosy up there.

That whole North East section of that map has no Freeport, Shroud Cay is the closest and shallow.

When the Brits held Bermuda there were constant calls for there to be a freeport in that area, but since the Russians have had it this is the first time I have seen anyone ask for it.

And now it is proposed.... by a brit!

No, traders from other nations are not free to pass, there is no such agreement in russian nation! Expect to be hunted down.
