I'm just lost for words what has happened to this game

Recommended Posts

It happened to me I don't know how much of a setup it was but the lgv I tagged was only ever interested in chaining my sails and running to where his endy joined 5-10 mins later.. And tbh it was easy to setup and if I wanted to be a arse I could easily do myself with a clan member and just rinse and repeat all day.

I hunt mostly solo and the 20 min join timer is just too long too extreme again... I could afk sail for 20 mins before engaging anything but probably won't find anything there. I know there is pz 1v1 thing but

A: you got to get there in 1 piece..

B:I like the ow chase, no artificial ring of death. Etc.

Solo PvP was hard now it verges on suicidal...

Ganking just got easier....

I would love it if the ROE could go back to what it used to be - but maybe the new system just needs to be tweaked (I'm not sure that can fix it though).

An LGV should not be able to get reinfrocements if attacked by a frigate, but I can see why a Brig would need reinforcemnts when attacked by a SotL. The problem as I see it is that currently a small fast ship ship can tag a frigate and keep it in battle untill he's reinforced by his mate's fir/fir Bellona.

EDIT: I forgot to ask.. what ship were you in?

If you were in a Ship of the Line my experience is that the Endymion would be very easily demasted with the new system thus enabling you to get two kills instead of one. :)

Trading now pointless, New damage Patch is just stupid, one broadside into stern and im on survival lol. What are you guys doing to this game!! Ill come check it out once you release it but once again another patch which seems one step forward and many more backwards.

I consider this OP to ba a rant, but i disagree so much I actually had to write a reply.

Trading makes sense now to me. No more 1M reals from 10 min sail, making it harder to become extremely rich very fast doing the meta trading ;)
There probably is still many loopholes, but I hope we report them in sted of exploit them so we can calm down the never ending reals inflation.

I personally love the new damage model. Large ships are powerful, focus fire is back i group fights, but if you got raked by a large line ship in a much smaller ship then maybe I understand what you on about. Game is more realistic now, much harder for small ships to engage and defeat a larger ship. And this is how it should be, the old way where players in line ships where losing to solo players in Snow's and Le Requin's was broken!

Herc V Herc

While not the Herc I did find out in testbed when I was grinding out with the Victory.  That bow/aft mods in the PvP shop made a big difference and so did Angelino hits.  Something I know you know how to do, but a lot of folks got so use to tanking now and stern hits it’s showing now when they get hit.  Our fighting styles have to be adjusted a bit with the new damage model.  Can’t just go in and tank against equal or larger ships and it does depend one your builds.  Some woods splinter way easy and do other damage.  Some allow for over pen and will do damage to structure and armor.

Nothibg wrong with taking a break too.  A lot of new games have came out and I stepped away to play them and not be burned out on this one.

Trading is now awesome. Every port now can make tax revenue.

New missions are fun. New delivery missions make long sails more meaningful.

The new damage model is the only thing that needs work, but for some reason because it's not to people's liking it means this whole patch is a failure.

I think folks who are upset need to take a break. I know I did a while back and I came back with a different attitude and the game is so much more enjoyable.

As i said in another topic already or maybe i adjust my statement: people whine to much or way to fast.

The damage model is a new mechanic that got added to the game and it needs testing. if its to much devs can tune it. i agree the damage seems to much right now (carros for sure), but that can be tuned easily. keep in mind that the different damage numbers of cannons give devs a new way to adjust the game.

People have the right to complain, lets just imagine the time spent to get the resources, not just for the ship but the upgrades as well. To then get into a battle where after 3 broadsides, one into my stern which took me under half core structure, and  survival, results in less crew to reload and slower sailing = quick death... didnt realise it would be one more broadside. I can just picture all the new players now going through all that time to finally get into a battle and be sunk after just a few broadsides lol

whats up with trading? i have different stories

If i buy something for 2000 and want to sell it for double, you have to sail over 500k to make this happen. If someone is going to make that sail there needs to be a higher profit.

Is it intended to separate the dedicated traders fom the non-trader crowd?

you need to go out of your comfort zone, get used to new changes.

shorter battles means more battles, more attention to mistakes during fight (before was boring broadsides vs broadsides 1st rate vs 5th rate with 5th rate just in reload shock but still perfectly moving and figthing).

now you must learn how to correctly play, avoiding stern rake more than bow rake, learning how to pproperly angling the ship during incoming fire...and yes...carronades must be deadly in short range battle! they was built with that purpose

so if you die in battle, is only your fault

Great advice here for all the new players about to enter the game lmao.....

I agree that the larger ships should make the smaller ships fear them, I'm on about a teak/white oak herc against another herc. 3 broadsides and the battle is over, 2 of which we both put eachother in reload shock. This is the main issue im bringing up, first broadside we went side to side, 2nd i went for mast he went into my stern, now im in survival with no speed.... game over!! One broadside into stern, if thats not OP im not sure what is.

cheap goods - modest profit for short journeys - same profit for long journeys
expensive goods - great profit for long journey - loss for short journeys

I know I have and I made sure I can use that time wisely when on route by catching up with some reading. One of the big reasons I still play this game is the down time that comes with this type of MMO. Plus, doing the long runs I can commit a day of the week to it and make enough profit to sustain past a week since the clan I am apart of functions properly maintaining a steady flow of resources and material.

This is a nice summary of the idea behind the trading in game. Thx!
