So....the 1%

Nope. the current storage of doubloons players have can provide for 1500 live oak/white oak first rates. (even if they stop doing any missions and looting).
But as i said we will see, and change prices accordingly.

@admin When will be the full wipe?

I'd love to see how much time it will take to get f.e. 20 clans reaching 1 million doubloons if they'll have to craft every ship again.

The general statistic is too misleading here. 50% of real world wealth is in the hands of 1% of people. The all dollars in the world might look impressive, but we don't see Ferrari at every second garage. I doubt Naval Action is different here.

And to make RvR fun, we need there as much people as possible. Not just small elite percantage

Also, maybe the little switch to make a 3rd rate a better (br effective) ship than 1st rate would be a good bypass of this problem?

You quoted an absolutely ridiculous number of 45 million.  Or do you mean 45 million is "the current storage of doubloons" for all clans combined?

We answer questions honestly and directly and you attacking us for this?
We do not know where the prices will stabilize as we increased supply of doubloons. Currently we think theyare ok as clans have so much doublooons that they wont spend them in a year

If you continue posting your way i will remove you from here.

I wasnt really trying to insult you - least of all for providing information.

Back to the topic at hand:

Basing prices of the amount of doubloons currently in the system is imho the wrong approach - one might think that basing prices on the amount of doubloons/resources generated might yield better results (-> existing doubloons need to be wiped).
In other words:
 - making doubloons more relevant to the economy (by making them a requirement for sourcing the special woods)
 - wiping all materials to be able to see how the new economy turns out (in the next patch)
 - while keeping all the doubloons
seems to be an odd choice to me because it doesnt really allow you to see what is going on because the market is still flooded with doubloons.

Rephrasing the question to decouple it from the doubloon mess. How much time should in your opinion be required for a player to build a

- 1st rate

- 3rd rate

- 5th rate

out of a) oak/oak and b) special wood/special wood.

We can not be all day attacking npc traders just to see if they have rare woods. Most people dont have the time for that

True. They’ll probably need to buy from those that do have the time. Or sail the lesser woods.

I’m not saying that this “new” system is going to work, but there’s no reason to think that in this game one should be able to do everything himself and still be able to participate in all activities effectively.

Ideally a good balance would be achieved and it would be too expensive for a clan/nation to risk 25 LO/WO ships. A fleet might have a few with the rest being Cag/Sab or some other less expensive option.

What if the Clan Missions are not solely based on doubloons but also on

- XXX amount of Stone Blocks - XXX amount of Provisions - XXX amount of Passengers delivery ( must find passengers willing to go there ofc, so based on the missions, but all passengers delivered there by anyone will count )

while reducing the doubloon amount.

( colonies require construction, supplies and colonists )

And here I am; struggling to maintain 10k dubs for a rainy day...

I'm blown away, I don't even have a point to make.

If working as intended means a dead RVR system with no incentives and using 1st rates to gank AI ships in capital zones...then yes.

I miss the days when we have multiple full first rate battles and folks didnt have to worry about replacing them.  Just go have fun.  But for some reason that wasn’t immersive enough

Now 1st rates will be hard to get, easy to lose and the PB BR system still heavily favors bringing the biggest ship you can.  What a well thought out system...

I feel for you, I have no bright ideas.

"How to make a system that motivates people to fight on top of a system that is built around discouraging people from risking anything?"

You know what I want...

The thing is with the new pax and letter delivery missions you can easily accumulate 50k doubloons in a couple of days of average play of 3 hours. Maybe if you are a PvP'er you may find this too boring, but PvP'ers will get combat medals and I am sure economy people will be willing to trade doubloons for combat medals. In reality things have almost gone back to the way it was before doubloons. Reals = old gold, Doubloons = old combat marks and Combat medals = old PvP marks.

“Tell me what you what, what you really really want...”

Heres a bright idea.

Keep damage model the same, add more than 1 live oak port, increase the number of cag/sab ports and make the costs cheaper to make alternative (but not quite as good) ship builds.  Then you decrease the amount of port battles that 1st rates can get into turning RVR into a more level playing ground that isn’t 1st rate spams.  One would also have to adjust hostility missions so they are a little easier attack and less grindy to set.

I can’t for the life of me figure out why RVR is made less accessible via fancy wood ports and line ships are easier to lose and harder to get.  The sum of all 3 variables does not add up to a more fun experience overall.

RVR was most active during the fine woods days when we’d have multiple 25 man battles + screening usually everyday.  Sometimes 5-6 over a weekend.  Ships were easy to lose and easy to make.  More folks were involved in the process and the server pop was far more healthy.  Ports mattered because of the regional bonuses.  We’ve since done a complete 180 from this mindset and RVR has been far more less active.

As you can understand, that is too time consuming and potentially frustrating (because of luck) for a playerbase which doesnt think of a game as a second job.

It may be a good way of playing for some roleplaying rovers of the sea though.

@admin should not forget that his target should be the average player with 2-3 hours every day. And the fact that rvr fuels pvp.

F.uck rvr and the other related activities will drop too. I believe the drop on population after patch 27 proved enough my point.

Lets not repeat past mistakes, again.

His target is not the average man. He wants a game for Pvp/RvR players. Why do you think every pacth favores those groups. Average Joe only have one role in this game. Be killed.

Have I said average joe wouldnt? just said his basic function in this game is to be killed.  But lets talk in a couple of month. Nobody have yeth felt the impact of the new direction the game is going. Not even to after the first wipe. All have plenty of ships. When they are gone, and first then we will see the impact.

Then stop being such a negative nancy because you do not know either. Or do you just like complaining and pulling assumptions out of your buttocks just sending negative waves every which direction because you are not getting your way?

I can't actually see I am negative. I stated what I think the games will bee with the changes that devs are putting it and how i think they will continue. For some it will be god(PvP/RvR ppl) for avarage joe harder.  But Devs have before changes what he wants, so you are right, nobody can know, neither can I. But for now the changes that made is for a more hardcore war server, admin allready stated he wanted to put war in to the war server.

But lets see.                                  PvP/RvR        Avrage Joe

Clan restrich wood                      Good               Negative

Shipsnote Combat medalion     Good              Negative

New RoE                                       Good              both good and bad

New damage model                  Favor              disadvantage

Permits for ships                       Favor              Disadvantage

Change in PZ                             Equal               Negativ

Do you disagree with any of the above. Btw what is my way. I for now only play casual, redeem my herc, when it is gone I log off. maybe once a week, I go in a smal hunting group for some Ow PvP.  So I am I guess a guy that neither benefits ore lose much. It is a Meh patch for me. Wont bring me back for real, neither push me out of the game. If you have read a bit of my post you actually would read I think those changes put in by devs is in sync with the gameplay they want. i can disagree with the way they go ore agree, but I think it is nice to see a clear direction. And imo it is a gameplay thats favor the PvP/RvR players at the cost of avrage joe. But that dosent have to be negative ore bad.

Updated my calculator for current method...

During updates, also realised that the blueprints changed - with 1st rates requiring much more materials (both regular and for frame). Only planking remained at same level.

64.000 Doubloons for a single LO/WO...
49.000 for T/WO...

Crazy.

Im deeply disappointed with @admin.

Why? The plan always was to get Sol’s to be expensive, to have them out of OW. With the new damage model and clan restriction, if you want just some balance in OW, Sol have to be expensive, so only used for important pb’s.  But I do think @admin made a mistanke that part. First of all they are still cheap enough so you will see full fleets, Second with Bellona and Wasa being bought rather cheap for CM, we will see an OW for the best and one for avarage joe.

Probably around 32000 for a buc.

Around 19000 for a bellona.

There is no way we can have a healthy rvr with such prices.

Yes and no. If the price is very high, it can go 2 ways. those that have are just seal clubbing the rest, ore they only will be used in the really important ports. we proberbly will see fewer in ow. Then we will have a RvR fights for ports from 2600-5000, where 1 rates proberbly wont be. The shallow might also be an hotspot to. But what happens depends on how ppl react.  Personally I think oure biggest problem is that even for small unimportant ports have ppl been screened out, smaller nations on a constant treath from losing ports just next to there capitol, so they try to do nothing to fly under the radar.

Every time I think about this I end up in conflict with my self. One part of me like this is a war server, then the other part of me think abouth average Joe. Honnest to god, I have no idea how to balance so both parts can be happy.
