Patch 30: General feedback

we once considered removing global chat - maybe its time to remove it on War server.
I have heard it turned very negative and in these turbulent polarizing times in the world - we dont need negativity in games and forums.

Yes, I spent the entire evening there last night. There indeed is a lot of misinformed sperging spurred by the misguided crusades certain players have embarked upon.

Please don't decide right now as a lot of good stuff will be lost if global goes bye-bye.

A few bad apples spoil the fruit bowl.

I personally would rather keep Global because:

  • it is a useful way to buy/sell rare materials and resources. Without it you are restricted to your nation, or contracts.
  • New players sometimes ask in there (instead of help) and having a spread of people who can assist is useful
  • People will move this same banter to the help channel (Bad apples will be bad apples anywhere they can be).
  • the VAST majority of the chat is rather friendly in there.
  • With the time/distance involved in sailing in the OW, it gives you something to do.

In my opinion, the only reason global has taken a turn for the worst recently is due to uncertainty/decisions made regarding wipes/resets and release. I'm sure post-release, it will still have some smack talk but again it will serve as a useful communication tool for assisting players in the game as well as just chatting about in-game and out-of-game stuff across nations. A lot of people have built up respect and created friendships for certain players in other nations, and with the inability to add players from other nations into the friends list, this would remove one of the only communication channels available to them.

In an ideal world, people would hug it out. But I personally think the benefits offered from a General chat far outweigh the issues caused by a few bad apples (swift moderation should deal with the problem, possible that there are too few in-game moderators).

So you are misguided if you disagree. Funny that bashing players that disagree is allowed. Thought admin clearly have stated that ppl should stay on fact and not on players. Those that couldnt respect that would get banned.

Well I most have gotten that wrong.

It's just my opinion. Their opinion is probably that they're on a mission from God, or something.

I even like some of the players who are fussing, but I still think their crusade is misguided. It is possible to keep two thoughts in your head at the same time.

Sigh... Oh, please!

Satire is a tool that can lighten up a discussion. I do it a lot, but it's not always the best idea.

You may turn the satire on me all you like, It's not a one-way street. Just leave forced big words like "toxicity" out... please?

Noooooo,  pls we have ignore and like 3 other tabs, if you don't like what's being said in global just bring up help chat or nation or something. Besides the trolls usually end up getting trolled out themselves anyway.

Theoretically you could all meet on Discord, no matter what nation 😉

Hunt and Search missions are rebalanced.

  • As they are encouraging player to hunt in the open world they now provide combat medals for their fulfillment.

Finally the difference between hunt mission and OW ship hunting makes sense. Thanks. +1

I guess the bitterness derives by the fact that the perception of a part of the community is that satire in this game is allowed and widely used just on one side of the discussion, while on the other side censorship strikes hard as soon as some irony shows up.

Irony, sarcasm and other speech artifices are masks often used by anarchists. Keep tight and test the game or else wait for release.

How you say it is way more important than what you say.

Last ban I requested from mods was for the guy who started to teach us that I must not talk to Trafalgar Gun Company and must not  arrange a real gun salute on game launch release, as I HAVE better things to do. Some might say it was harsh. But we do not need an anonymous armchair project managers to tell us what to do and how to do it in harsh tones.

We do not ban for satire but for asshatery and overall toxic behaviour. We always give toxic posters multiple second chances but if after all those chances the person tries to use satire in the wrong place and wrong time he gets banned. To the person like you it might seem he was banned for satire. but its not the case. In 100% of cases its a chain of previous offenses OR siding with people actively with such offenses.  They do not give us second chances - why should we?

Spring cleaning will continue. This forum must become useful friendly and helpful.

I do not want to enter in a discussion on it (since it would be a bit off topic), but the concept of "asshattery" or "toxicity" is very subjective (and TBH satire is always someway disturbing, otherwise it's not satire).

Maybe it's just that your standard of "toxicity" is different from the average standars of other developers and games. That would explain why some of the banned testers feel so triggered, as it appears from what they write on reddit or in steam reviews.

I have noted, anyway, that there are some forum users that attack and flame other users that express negative comments on the game, and I was wondering if they also would be considered asshats or toxic players according to your definition of such terms.

Anyway, as I told, there's no reason to discuss on it: this forum is yours so you make what you want on it. But the image of the game (and also of Game Labs) on steam still is important for the future sales of this game and of the others that you may develop in the future.

Ps: maybe open a section of the forum "asshattery and toxicity" and tell people that they can tell what they want, but just there (just joking)

😳I wonder how, through many games that these people don't get banned ,It takes a lot to develop and design these boats , As an Architect myself it is not easy and I started with just a pencil , A lot of respect for the DEVS for this game and the the Multiplyer MMO format, that's what I buy.thats what I play.

this won't solve anything, the dev team needs to realise that you cant remove all dissent about the game.
