Sealed bottle - loot tables

Recommended Posts

So a few days ago I got my first sealed bottle. Very exciting! I don't run the fishing perk and this was my very first one. It turned out to be a Belle Poule to the N of Atwood so off I set with dreams of a hold full of riches. skill books or some copper plating esque upgrades.

What I actually got was... well not to put a finer point on it but it was a little limp. Some artifacts, some almonds, some wool... all sold to npc trader for about 60k total.

Under the old adage when it rain it pours my clanmate then found another one yesterday.

It was an Agamemnon.

This time the sail was quite far away (from Atwood to north of Marsh Harbour) all told about 50 minutes there and about the same back. Again we set off. Me in a trusty escort Hercules and my clanmate in his Indiaman. Oooh an Agamemnon we thought... 4th rate.... that's gotta be worth a fair bit right? Worth having that as the days sailing.... Well not exactly.... 50 min later we arrived to get... wait for it... pretty much the same thing. Some wool, those damn almonds again and an almighty 143 doubloonians. 50min back and time to for bed

All told considering the rarity of these things and the sail involved I found both drops to be a little underwhelming.

What are other captains experiences of sealed bottles? My data set of two is obviously tiny and I'm interested to see what other captains think. Have you been lucky? Are you happy with the drop rate and the associated loot? Have we been unlucky or is this the norm?

Kind Regards

Captain Ahab

60k is like the price of first rate.
please remember that trading prices are not finalized (generating too much money) and overall 60k reals means you just got the cost (in resources) of the aircraft carrier funded.

But we plan to add back something rare to bottles (books and upgrade materials) soon. So they indeed feel like treasure finds from time to time.

The ships they list is random and has nothing to do with the cargo your getting from what I seen.

Where are you getting 60K is the price of a first rate, that wouldn't even cover most of the Doubloons not to mention the other resources and permits.

Vicotory is 7791 Doublons

Santi is 8745

L' Ocean is 9166

Charleston they are going for 100 reals per doubloons so that is like 70,0000-90,000 just for the Doublons and not counting the permits witch is another 3K.  Than you add in what ever the mats cost.

Plz make it with frequent finding statistics, for a few weeks, as a test. It might give a boost to players activity. (which is the main today's focus i guess).

Or program it like "special treasure days" or "Xmas treasure week"  8))

45=55k reals cost of materials for an oak oak first rate. Doubloons are free to get from traders, patrols, NPC ships etc. Permits are irrelevant as if you captured ports you have permits from the government.

Thanks for your response Admin and to hear that you'll look into adding books and upgrades is great.

NPC trader goods always help but we can easily get these from capping traders and we have multiple streams of revenue for reals.

Our assumption was indeed that these were "treasure" wrecks. This assumption stemmed from their rarity and the sail distances involved

Ok so that is around 1.1 to 1.5 million for a first rate doing your cost and no one makes Oak/Oak first rates....that still isn't a first rate for 60K.  Honestly that 1-1.5 million is about what I expect one to cost to make (cost not what it actually sold for) and I assume that is getting every thing dirt cheap too.

oh and killed 5 traders yesterday....not a single doubloon....lol  I did get some Cedar and other trade goods, but no DOublooons.

You've got some karma biting you in the ass!  RNG hates you.  I got over 12k Doubloons yesterday from a couple of PVP kills and some AI TBrigs.  Biggest AI haul is 6700 and biggest PVP haul (not counting the ones that go to your chest is 2600.

@admin the problem is we cant really test it properly without economy and resource wipe because when people sits with mountains of resources and infinite amount of reals they dont care about the cost of stuff, you can see in LT shop people are setting up buy contracts for 50k + for only modules, allthough really good one they still dont sell, because other players know that 1. the module is insane and a one of a kind and 2. they know people have more to offer.

This would also escalate to the insurance for the ship, people dont care about the ships themselves, but its the goddamn expensive mods on the ships :)

You can test the new economy mechanics all you want, but it wont be a "realistic" test before you do the resource wipe or maybe

Dude you got no ideal, I swear the RNG gods hate me.  We even joked that Devs had it coded to make sure I don't get good drops (disclaimer they contacted me and told me they don't)....  I'm the guy that gets a bunch of basic mods and sail repairs while every one is getting rare drops in battle.  With my crappy work schedule right now (12's on 3rd shift) I haven't been on much in times when I could PvP so I been popping on after work and hitting a few AI to grind out the Cerberus a bit to get ready for shallows next week (i already got slots on Surprise and Reno on chars.)  Though good thing I do get some from when I do the sink the ships missions in the shallows.  I done circles around the northern Bahamas sinking 6th rates before and got some, but that was mainly the 50-75 mission pay outs lol
