Zeeland (adopted 1949, I know it's outside of the era but it's a really good flag and the Dutch could use some love)

If possible, flags should've been way bigger and longer than they are right now in-game. Flags were huge, specially in bigger ships, because all the sails usually went in front of it and you couldn't see the ships colors from the bow, as the sails would get in the way, so the flags usually were longer and bigger so even if you were from afar, you could spot the colors from a vessel and potentially identify her nationality and intentions (pennants). Other thing that I've been saying aswell is the flag texture is not exactly spot-on when you zoom-in on the stern of your ship, so I really would love to see some retexture on them, make them more battle worn aswell, a little bit more grey'd out and not so goddamn vivid colored as they are right now.

Here is a reminder of flags (main or top mast) possible for France.
some have already been suggested by other players.

  • Flag of Martinique and St-Lucie (1766)

All the owners of vessels, ships, schooners and boats of Martinique and Saint Lucia will provide their ships with a blue flag with a cross which will share the flag in four; in each blue square, and in the middle of the square, there will be the figure of a snake in white, so that there will be four snakes in white in the said flag, which will be recognized henceforth for that of Martinique and St. Lucia.

here the missing flag  ( ^^^) ostend company  nation VP  (17 or 7 provinces ? ) 7 is from a later time frame

@admin  also send a pm about it months ago.

more different ones : (flags)

https://www.datnarrenschip.nl/collections/landkaarten-nederland-17-en-7-provincien/products/17-provincien-h-de-leth-1749

260px-1815-VerenigdKoninkrijkNederlanden

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belgian_Revolution

the 7 provinces became after 1830

what means the vp has actually 17 provinces what actually means that the southern part of the VP are forgotten in the NA game .

and the emphasis is on the contemporary northern part of the current state of the Netherlands  what is not entirely correct.

edit removed habsburg flag (inapropriate)

As an Austrian ( and monarchist) I can tell you that this is the small coat of arms of (Archduke of) Austria ( from 1915) and you can be sure that we wont hoist that type of flag on a ship.

You must differ here between Archduke of Austria (as a part from the HRE) and the Habsburg Empire.

The (so called until present day) Seeflagge from Austria is red-white-red as shown later by the K.u.K Kriegsmarine. The Habsburg flag ist black-yellow and the Navy Flag (before the Austrian Flag was hoist) was yellow with the black Habsburg Eagle (in different Variants).

The Founder from the Ostende Trading Company was Charles VI and therefore Habsburg.

I wish we would only suggest flags that were actually used around the West-Indies, tho.

but than certain nations would not exist in the first place.

perhaps we need all the nations of the world from that era to exist in the game.    even the shineese, even a sanpan.... in this game.... :)

flags and nations should be historical as the game itself ( even the DEVs says that the game is historical(?!) based).

But I would be happy when the actual flags we have are used in a correct way and that we can see the flags also in the OW.

A big Bonus would be the availability of CLAN Flags (hoist as the National Flag).
