There is no indication to suggest this will be true. If anything these devs could be criticised for prolonging the development time. They could have put a bow on what we got now and called it a release and sell it as a full product. Instead they are taking great pains to keep working on the game to bring it to a finished state. Saying that the game will be released in an unfinished state is pure and unfounded speculation.

It's true, that's just my feeling.

A game of the Caribbean Sea without national politics, without international politics, without a realistic economy, only focused on combat ... evidently it is not a finished game, nobody creates a giant map and then make an exclusively combat game. For me the project has been half done.

I appreciate the work and the new contents that will be included in the game but I think it is insufficient to make the players really feel like navigating the Caribbean of the 18th century.

There is no need for a bigger world. The goal is to provide good enough entertainment over the typical play session of a busy working player (with kids). Adding millions of square KM to it does not solve the problems for the average player.

NA is an indie game done by a very small team. Impossible to compete with 100+ mln us dollar behemoths like Fallout 76 or star citizen in terms of content or quality.

If it was same game on just a new map it would just have been nice not to start all over again. Just to lazy. Do also think most EU player will be there and not in the caribbean.

Thought you maybe had an idea to sell each nation as a seperate dlc and only let nations in to it, so it could be the PvE safe place and then make the Caribbean and  Mediterranean hot spots for RvR and PvP.

Your examples of what you are missing to call this a completed game are ridiculous. This game HAS national politics. It HAS international politics. This is the parts of the game that players generate in a sandbox multiplayer game like this. In no way would I want the game to do these things for us. If you don't take part in the politics that is your own fault. This is not a single player game. I've been taking part in politics in this game since day one.

And the economy is also in the game already. It still needs some improvements, and what devs have stated about in this topic constitutes a major leap forward.

A "realistic economy" in a game is a misnomer. It's not going to work unless some players are the winners and others are the loosers in the economy, and the loosers would just stop playing. We could do with a better economy, yeah. And we are getting it as devs are continuously working on improvements, as examplified in this very topic.

Really happy to know there will be one !!!

Now, the questions that certainly won't be answered today 😉 : will it be MMO/single-player ? during the same  timeframe as NA 1 ? with/without combat instance ? will it be like NA 1 (sailing a ship) or like  Ultimate Admiral (managing a fleet) ? ... ?... ?

European coast line is very long. Even if you do not include North Sea with Norway coast line, we still have entire Baltic coast line and to sail to the Mediterranean Sea it would take ages. Not idea if you plan to add entire GB coast with north side and Ireland... Also double instance game will bring the same issues that NA brings and I don't think you managed to find a fix for speed and distance time compression?

If I ain't mistaken, the Mediterranean Sea and the Caribbean Sea have about the same surface area (between 2,500,000 - 2,754,000 km2).

Moreover, I guess that kind of cutting is possible (or even smaller) :

d1ampDC.png

one can also make the in-game distances smaller than IRL or OW speed faster...

Or maybe several zones/areas (the Channel, around Trafalgar...)

Or the Mediterranean in NA2 and North Europe in NA 3.

btw, is it off-topic ? No ! 😁

@Sella22 this time, I kept a bit of Greece on the map... 😁

No. Nobody forget anything. Thats why we always are careful with promises and I will insist that you are spreading wrong info based on your assumptions without any connection to  reality and facts.

All what was promised in early access when we started pre-orders was this
JCcWof6.png

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=259130636

Our webpage mentions limited number of ships and content. www.navalaction.com

What we are selling is all on written on the steam store page. I would strongly suggest you read the steam official store page and steam green light page before making false confusing statements that might influence people who come here.

We delivered on all our store facing promises. You should not expect ANYTHING beyond what is on steam green light and steam page to be added ever. Everything EXTRA is comes either from a desire to deliver more for free or we will have to charge for it to even make it.

ps. exploration was started to be implemented in form of fishing. We have realistic fishing habitats and real caribbean fish. But exploration was abandoned because no-one ever said thank you for spending time on fishing and people honestly  fish to get bottles. Thus there will be no exploration until it can be made interesting. But the key point remains. Exploration was only discussed. it was never promised on the official store pages.

Not true: patch 9.9 was one of more complimented ones. Just few examples:

https://forum.game-labs.net/topic/15050-congratulation-to-the-dev-team-on-a-success-of-a-patch/

I even made an map (with my previous forum’s banned account)with all fishing spots (link is broken by now), including the fauna.

The main problem is that fishing has no economic value right now on trading. Maybe if you implement some contracts type missions to deliver certain kind of species, PAYING WELL FOR THE EFFORT...so, sure, right now, fishing is only interesting for get bottles.

Maybe they will add nations that never sailed the time in that region.  You know to be historical and all.

Depending time period mediterraneb sea could be fun as a Barbers Corsair.

That’s true. But, you just forgot exploration, which could bring a lot of new content to game, to focus in balance the fighting issues. Im not blaming you cuz you need to have your priorities instead to listen whining people, but it’s is not fair to blame the community for abandoned ideas and saying that you abandoned them just to not been complimented for the good ones. Please be fair.

My opinion is different. The game has to integrate mechanisms to implement political agreements in game. Now we are at war, all against all.

The economy simply does not exist, it is just a group of products that you have to take from one port to another to obtain a benefit. There is no system of production and consumption, we can not control anything. The economy is focused on the construction of ships. Summary of the economy:

- Materials to build ships

- Materials to build upgrades for the ships

- Products to get money to buy things for the ships.

A more complex economic system would give a new perspective to the game. Economic war, blockade of cities ...

Sigh, I’d say most of us have rewarded you plenty with buying extra alt accounts, DLC, and indeed praise when it’s warranted (see my first post in the dev. plans thread)... But to abandon an entire line of game content that might attract and retain just the kind of casual and new players this game desperately needs, after implementing what amounts to completely meaningless backdrop just because you didn’t get your “pat on the back” is pretty sad.

I think you misread language again.
You do not determine a good feature with a pat on the back. You see usage in data. Exploration was dropped, crafting was simplified for a simple reason. It either should be done well and work well, or should be abandoned. There will be no exploration in NA because good exploration is impossible without map resets and /or finite resources a-la SWG.

... or land exploration a la Sid Meier's Pirates to find treasure (nice kind of exploration on a known/realistic map such as the Caribbean)

Besides, look at the Explo thread : there's been only 15 new posts since June 2016. And before, we were only 2-5 ppl discussing about that feature for months. We could also mention only a very few other threads about Explo. It has never been a very popular feature. That's an old discussion. Maybe this thread about Explo gameplay should have been closed a long time ago with a nice disclaimer about the abandonment of this feature in NA (1) for everybody to know it.

That may be your opinion on how politics would suit you better in a game, but that doesn't mean we don't have politics now. The game doesn't have to hardcode diplomacy. That put's too much restraint on players in my view, and most people didn't like it back when we did have hardcoded diplomacy.

This is an MMO, but it is also and RPG, and that means we make the world come alive ourselves, by adding content to it. We used to have people make newspapers, video reports and captain's logbook-entries on the forum. It doesn't have to just be pew-pew and competitiveness. We can pour a little of our own creativity and fantasy into it.

The economy is more than you give it credit for. But it is not perfect. Hopefully devs will keep working on the improvements they have announced. Personally I don't care if it's dynamic and "realistic". Implementing distances in trade and making it less based on nation capitals will be a big step forward in my view. And you can't have everything. Fortunately this is a combat and sailing game first and foremost, not a trading-game. There are some great single-player trading-games on the market. Naval Action doesn't need to compete with those.

Thanks for this cosmetic patch ! I like the concept (even if

I still regret the form you use for these dlc, i think you could be much more successfull  if each dlc was costing few cents  to few $  and then offering one of those flags, one nation change item, one name change item, one ship note, etc..  All still untradables

where are the storms?

Storms battles existed when the game wasnt even on steam. I don't think its possible to be done now that we have the OW because the calculation for waves has to be changed for the whole server. Or something along those lines is what admin has stated in the past.

But @admin I will provide you with a suggestion about storm battles. What if battles that start in a part of the OW where its raining, spawn storm instances. Is that possible?
